Hakumans with both Mugen and OD (which is possible) is going to get ridiculous damage even in a live match. Other characters can do more damage in training mode but I think he's got the highest live-match-viable damage.

Terumi definitely does better on delivering high damage with relative ease though. The kind of high damage Hakumen players will get every once in a while is the kind that Terumi shits out every round.

It was hinted she had something special going for her by Nine in Tao's arcade but as we know now arcades aren't canon at all sadly, and her surprising Rachel at sensing Death incarnate in CP didn't amount to anything. Relius says she is a ''decent copy'', for whatever that's worth. and if you're including gag reels for some reason then she apparently has a superb body that could contain Hazama's soul.

At most she is pretty weak but has insane potential but is too dumb to unleash that potential strength currently. Maybe in the next game if she shows up we'll see her become stronger.

Let me not just say it, but elaborate on it and perhaps spark some discussion. So Tao and Hibiki both have to out maneuver their opponent, Hibiki wants to hit a whiffed button with J.C and Tao wants...well anything. Tao has actually movement options for this, an extra jump or air dash while Hibiki has....clones. They kinda fucking suck but I'll get into that later.

So while Hibiki has one specific option he's gonna be fishing for Tao has multiple, and actual good ground neutral buttons at that, notably 2B, and 6C for a counter poke with lots of reward. Hibiki has 5C but if you say, counter hit a person out of it by hitting their hurtbox with a normal, you might not even be able to combo off it if they're too far. Tao doesn't have to worry about that since she gets at least -something- off all her buttons no matter the distance.

Now, about the subject of drives. They both use them in similar ways however Tao has a lot more freedom with hers. Her drive has a LOT less commitment(you can brake) and has a lot more options in its use, allows her to cover great distances quickly. Hibiki has 3D but it has an insane drawback-only projectile invul during the startup. The only character I can think of that having that property would be useful against is well..another Hibiki because he has the slowest goddamn projectile in the game(outside of Mai charging spear I guess, or Tao charging the bowling ball). This leads to situations where you'll try to punish a projectile on reaction, but by the time you teleport they'll have already recovered, and you'll get punished because it's unsafe on block. It's honestly super bad with it's only redeeming quality is that it fatals. Hibiki's movement drives (6D J.3D) also have to be conditioned to be used, since your drive loses to attacks and is reactable, the other person loses nothing mashing say a 5A or 2A when they see you doing it, and gain a counter hit combo if you tried to 6/J.3d. cont

While you can argue that almost every character has something you need to condition the opponent to work, I feel something as vital as that for Hibiki requires too much set up and doesn't give enough reward for landing it(on say a blocking opponent). On the flipside Tao's drive is not reactable, can crossup(on block) can be made safe, and be used in many different ways to continue pressure.

On the subject of pressure they're both similar in the sense they have a slow standing overhead, and command jump, but Tao's options at hers are a lot better than Hibiki's(slow overhead that's unsafe, knives which leave you at 0 and against certain characters flat out ends your turn without 50 meter, ass counter, and air command grab) Tao can use all her air options after hers, it automatically lets her cross up if you do nothing. You can do things slightly slower than Hibiki's after it (2 frames slower I believe) but you have a lot more options than him after your command jump. Hibiki has predictable gattlings, but Tao's ability to reverse beat her 5B into her 5A gives her more flexible pressure options with her normals. Hibiki's crossup special is also unsafe as fuck on block, while Tao's drive crossup is safe if blocked(if you get them to block a normal, I mean.)

All around Tao just beats Hibiki out in every category aside from HP, and....average damage? Tao has his stumped everywhere else however.

The big problem with Tao is her reward for pressure though, her damage is ass in this game, and in a game where many characters get MASSIVE damage off an RPS guess, not having a very good reward can gut you, especially given Tao's health.

There's a lot of problems with BBCF Tao, but it ain't damage. It isn't what it used to be, but it's very average damage for the game.

The main problems is Tao's gutted neutral game for the most part. Since after BBCSEX, she has had her drive's hitboxes not show up until next to the opponent, while her hurtboxes are still there. The reward from CH drives is also a lot lower in general. She has had 6C active frames drastically reduced, 2B made 2 times slower, with more range and recovery, her j.B and j.C completely replaced. Her new j.C is good, but her new j.B does not replace the function of her old j.B, and her confirms suffer a lot for it. Her new j.B has a good opponent-above-you hitbox, but it's difficult to convert it.

Tao does this too, but Tao does this better, Better movement options all her to play lame and move around the opponents options, and when the time is right strike. I don't understand what you mean by take risks since Tao has better buttons and has to take less risks(More options than J.C fishing, or trying to land a J.2D for knockdown). She has better ways of baiting the opponent for a whiff punish and is far better and getting the upper hand on projectile users with her drive.

Then we get to her pressure. First of all, she doesn't have anything to cover her C attacks, in an era of overdrive raid. That's where her main money was in terms of damage from pressure. Which brings me to another point, 236C(1) has more recovery it seems, and 5D is slower, making it not a true blockstring. That means you cannot easily do C attacks while baiting a DP without using 214D... which doesn't turn around as fast and goes too far now to be used in pressure well, or 5C JC, which is pretty early on. Her 5B jump cancel on block is gone. Her jump has more gravity, making it harder to jump cancel into a j.2B crossup. Most of what you'll be doing now is just doing 2AA5B(5A5B) with slight variation. Not a lot of creative potential without introducing serious risk. 2D~B j.C is shit too.

Now what's better about Tao right now is actual damage potential off standing confirms, and generally everything can do ~3-4k while putting the opponent in the corner on the ground. 2C/6C combos still do a good ~5k+.

tl;dr Tao is a worse Tao right now. It's really sad. All of her strengths have been downplayed, and what she does right now, several characters (including Hibiki) definitely does better.

A couple things to note:
>5B is a Short starter, like 2A. Some things will obviously be shorter.
>2B and j.C are Medium starters, making more normal combos possible.
>You're missing a couple inputs. There's a 6C before the 5D~A. And it's a super jump TK. And you're missing a bit at the end too.

j.C > (5B) > 5C > j.C > j.2D~B > 5B > 5C > 2D~5 > j.6D~6 > j.2D~B > 6C > 5D~A > 2B > 6A > sj9.236Bx5 > j.2D~B > 3C(3) > 236A~B or 214D or 236236D or OD 236236D is what you should be practicing.

If you want a bit more damage/style, you can do something like
j.C > (5B) > 5C > j.C > j.2D~6 > j.4D~B > j.6D~6 > j.2D~B > 2C > 6C > 5D~A > 2B > 6A > sj9.236Bx5 > j.2D~B > 3C(3) > 236A~B

If you do start with a Short starter, it's usually just going to be something like 2A > 2B > 5B > 3C (3) > 236A > 5D~B or 2A > 2B > 5B > 3C (3) > 236A > 6D~6 > j.D~B or 2A > 2B > 5B > j.A > j.2B > j.C > 66 > 5B reset potential or variations on that.

And of course, if the opponent is caught crouching and you confirm it, you use a completely different route instead, with 6C > 236CC > etc...

HOLY SHIT. Before you posted this I actually got it a few times but I couldn't get the 3C after the j.236B-2Da, still can't get the TK super jump after 6A consistently though. Didn't notice I missed some inputs either, thanks for pointing it out.

Oh fuck, I didn't know that, I always just assumed A's were always short, B's were always medium and C's were for the most part Heavy.
