Not sure if that means Dota pros are just braver to experiment on the main stage or if that shit is actually balanced. The reason most zets are shit in pubs is that they've got the "build x do y" mentality from other heroes. There are at least 10 - 15 items that I go to regularly build as my first 2 after midas alone, and that's just for playing him as a carry hero.

You also have to understand how to efficiently use his clone to it's full potential for splitpushing and fighting and so on.

If you want to learn to play him, actually research games on dotabuff to see all the different builds and playstyles.
