I've noticed there are holes in the ground in many places, as in, if you look from a certain angle you can see water under the ground. I think hitting those is the main cause of these strange accidents. Could be that it's worse at low quality settings having less polygons.

I never got why this wasn't a thing. The road trips in shitty cars were always the best Top Gear episodes. Roadkill got pretty popular doing pretty much the same thing. The part of car culture that isn't ogling supercars you'll never have is huge, but nearly unrepresented in games. It kinda used to be, though. Older racing games would start you in a shitty car you could improve.

Why is buying replacement items not a feature?

Is it normal for the Satsuma to blow steam into the windshield just from running it pretty hard in the top of the range for a while, or is it indicative of me screwing up some aspect of building it/tuning it?
I have the belt on just tight enough that it stops squealing, I have the carburetor screw turned just enough that it turns from blackish to light-colored exhaust, and I have the valves as loose as they can go without clicking.

I've never built the car and got the steering square enough to actually give it a hard run at high RPM before I crashed, so I don't know if the steam is normal or not.

Seems normal for every stock build I've had. Run the stock shitbox hard enough and it will start to eject coolant at high RPM.

Temps never got high enough to damage the engine and it only loses a small quantity of coolant so I usually ignore it until I've upgraded the radiator.

I wondered about this. There is an engine/transmission in the repair shop and those assets aren't reused anywhere else. It's also in a bit too much detail for me to think it was just decoration, especially considering the rest of the decoration.

Do you think we'll eventually be able to order replacement parts for stuff like pistons or the block? It'd be fun to fix those yourself but realistically you'd need a milling machine or lathe to do that kind of rework

No. A lot of things are simplified. The "Rocker Arms" are a whole ton of individual parts and don't even include installing the valves in the head. There are no gaskets other than the head gasket, and the "gearbox" is actually a ton of parts.

The game is pretty personal, I think. Editing a car game down to owning one project car and some other boring vehicles that make an income is also kinda the opposite of what car games have been doing for years. The decreasing realism as you get further from the project car (like how the forest just turns into blocks of trees) is something that no pro developer I can think of would do. These decisions required a clear vision, and I think a lot of credit is owed to the dev for what he *didn't* do as well as what he did. I think it required this particular Finn, but I hope people are paying attention to this game. I think there is a lot to learn here.
