for variety and cosmetic reasons. theyre pushing cosmetics a lot so i dont see why not. if its not hard for them to design new models, or at least parts of new models(robit feet for instance) then i think that would be a nice addition that a lot of people would like.
i like the robots for the most part, but sometimes id love to use the holopilot character model while still being able to use stim for example.

guys what are good weapons to use

I tried playing with all the beginner weapons and I"m awful at all of them. Literally every other player I run across blows me the fuck out

the only way I can get points is by equipping the mgl and shooting at distracted titans. My mgl is lvl 15 and all my other weapons are like lvl 4 or 5

I've been working on regenning every weapon so I don't really have "a" build, but here are some general guidelines I work with for all of them.

OPINIONS INCOMING

>Tactical Abilities
Stim, Pulse Blade and Phase Shift are always going to be useful. Stim is my favorite, but Pulse Blade gets pulled out on objective game modes or if the enemy team is full of Cloak players. Phase Shift is fucking ridiculous on CTF (you can run flags with it). A-Wall gets an honorable mention for how strong it can be in objective game-modes. Grapple and Cloak fall under "not 'meta' but still fun", while Holo Pilot is funny but horrible.

I've only really extensively used Arc Grenades and Firestars. I much prefer Firestars. They come out faster than a grenade and do a not-insignificant amount of damage to Titans. If you hit a Titan in the crit spot with a Firestar, your Titan Meter gets a pretty solid boost.

Generally I'll run Power Cell until I unlock Tactikill on a given weapon, then I'll run Fast Regen. Phase Embark is required for Last Titan Standing.

Low Profile. Buy it. Buy it now and never use anything else.

Regardless of the weapon, you're going to run Tactikill. Know what's better than Stim? Stimming every ten goddamn seconds. Know what's better than throwing a Pulse Blade in a building? Throwing a Pulse Blade in a building, killing everyone in it, then having it up to throw in the next one. It's great. After that, the attachments kind of depend on personal preference and the gun.

Anti-Titan weapons are going to be more useful than pistols in most cases, but ultimately this is your call. Of the AT weapons, the MGL is my favorite by a huge margin. That thing shreds Titans.

I didn't really like the tech test back in August, I disliked how weak the titans felt and how rarely you got to use them, the grappling hook class was the only fun one, every match felt too repetitive, what's been improved since then?
How long does progression last, will I keep unlocking new shit for quite a while or will I quickly get bored grinding for cosmetics?
I'm pretty much only interested in it for the mecha..

The tech test had like 5% of the full game in it, it's not a good representation. There were only two maps, two titans, and just a handful of weapons and abilities available, so of course it felt repetitive.

Also you get your titan very often in gamemodes that aren't Bounty Hunt. I probably spend more time in my titan than in titanfall 1.

Speaking of Titan executions, are the new ones tied to the Prime skins? Like, could we use the new Ion execution with the default Ion skin?

My idea of fixing volt/devotion, since they are electric based, make them weaker on gruns,pilots but stronger on titans,sentries and anything mechanical. Also ffs faster projectile speed for everything like Mozambique, Mastiff.

When the bar goes black and yellow striped they're "doomed" and can be executed unless they get a battery which gives a shield. Their health also cannot go higher than the doomed state no matter how many batteries they get. You cannot execute a doomed titan if it has a shield from a battery still up.

Originally, all of the titans were going to have melee weapons. There's a picture of Scorch with an Assassin's Creed wrist blade in the art book, along with a short discussion of how the devs intended to implement them (they wanted a system where the blade would "dull" and you'd have to swap it out, essentially meaning you'd need to "reload" your melee weapons).

It never got off the ground, and Ronin's the only titan who ended up keeping their melee weapon. Probably for the best.

Anyway, that's likely where that art is from.

What are some rookie mistakes to avoid?

is it just me, or different game modes hold players of different skill levels? Bounty Hunt is baby tier, attrition is your standard cod folk, and I just got absolutely raped in mixtape, so I'm guessing that's where the actually decent players at?

Get off the ground as often as possible.Being on a roof or a wall not only makes it less likely the bad guys will immediately see you when entering an area, it also (in the case of wall-running) increases your movement speed, making it the best way to get around a level as well.

The movement system is hugely important in this game, it's worth getting to know it.

CTF is probably the hardest to carry. Even in other objective game modes like Hard Point and Bounty Hunt, you can at least score points by yourself. CTF requires that your flag be at your base and that somebody goes to get their flag. You need to rely on your team at least a little, and that's always a recipe for disaster.
