Going to sperg a bit here, but the slabs in my house are pretty unusual just due to how old they are. Even though my family has lived here for ~20 years, we only uncovered the slabs a couple of years back since some weirdo in the 70s put down carpet over them (which is kind of lucky, since they're often just taken out and sold).
Because they've been there so long, they've gone smooth and shiny all over where people have walked and even have slight dips in the middle.
