>annalise MAY be of pthumerian blood
Maria is her direct blood relative and used blood AND fire magic, both of which are pretty much exclusive to Pthumerians. She's also NOT a Vileblood.
>yharnam was impregnated by oedon, the child of blood is analise's child
It's both. Annalise wants to have her OWN Child of Blood because she wants to be a proper successor to Yharnam.
>The first hunter of hunter being from the hamlet is likely
It's confirmed. They practice Sky Burial there.
>>
>>160987154
> Cainhurst is the remainder of Pthumuru

But that my theory! Give it back.

And it's barely even a theory, since so many Cainhurst things are found in chalice dungeons, and the paintings look like slightly more humanised Pthumerian Descendant/Elder.

> Logarious is Pthumerian

Nah, he's not weak to Arcane and he doesn't do fire magic. He's just a super stronk human, probably lots of blood treatments but managed to avoid Beasthood. Similar to Church Giants (and even Doctors and Brick Trolls) being gigantic but they arnt Pthumerian or beasts. Personally I think based on Gilbert's "all kinds of blood" line, that tbe Church has countless strains of old blood and targeted application can achieve somewhat scientific results (EG making people huge).

> Loran was just another part of Labyrinth

This doesn't make sense, it was a land swallowed by the sands. There's no fucking desert near Yharnam, it's lake, forest or mountains depending on which direction you walk. Loran was a Pthumerian city or country or whatever, a substantial distance from Pthumuru Ihyll (the capital of thier civilisation) and also differed in culture, they had Blood based medical procedures and Loran Clerics imply some organised religion.

But Chalice dungeons are impossible to properly analyse in lore terms because unlike the main game we can't take what we see for granted. I highly doubt Pthumuru Ihyll (the fucking capital) looked identical to the shitty Hintertombs. Or that thier entire civilisation was based on formulaic 3 layer dungeons.

I honestly don't even know why Hintertomb is in the game.

> identical to Pthumru except it has the poison status on all dungeons (this can randomly happen to Pthumuru root dungeons), Madmen as the ONLY chest/lever guardian enemy (they appear in other dungeons anyway) and more dark rooms.

The pitiful loot (Uncanny hunters axe and some tier 1 Resistsnce runes) could have been added to Depths 1-3 Pthumuru, and the 3 unique bosses could have stopped annoying repeats in other dungeons.
> Forgotton madman replaces Watchers in Lower Pthumuru
> Cannon Giant replaces Keeper in defiled
> Elder replaces Descebant in Ihyll

The only reason it needs to exist as a different dungeon type is if you want decent triangle gems before Isz.
>>

Ashen Pants (Djura's) and looks like Starting Forigners garb.

But the best fucking ass in the game is Ashen Pants + Bone Ass Armour, the tight leather pants are obvious, but the armour's shape has a little "tail" if you call it that, which points into the butt-crack. Gives it mores definition and shape.

>NOT a vileblood
>direct blood relative to the VILEBLOOD QUEEN
also still, we don't know what the exact properties of the vileblood that came from byrgenwerth to cainhurst are. In your canon it has no effect because you claim maria's/annelise's special powers are from their ptumerian heritage - I think the vileblood queen became ptumerian because of the blood

also annalise HAD her own child of blood. It was used to beckon MP by Gherman and Laurence

>it's confirmed
explicitly where?
If sky burial alone is the "confirmation" then Hemwick is the origin of the HoH too.
Fishing hamlet has a stronger motif to spawn HoHs but I can't remember an explicit confirmation

???? I have never heard this before. I'm not sure I buy it, because I don't think there's any mention (or even implication) or her previously giving birth to a child of blood. She always speaks about it in future tense, something that will eventually happen.

>>160990315
- I think the vileblood queen became ptumerian because of the blood

That's what I think to, but the Pthumerian ancestors is still very much real. The Cainhurst way is of nostalgia and bombast, they were humans through and through, but could trace heritage back to Pthumuru and used this to legitimise thier nobility. They were hanging onto pride with no actual supernatural abilities. After someone gave them actual Pthunerian shit from the dungeons they could do stuff like become immortal and obtain the inhuman patience required to grind for 4 sets of perfect offshapes for thier 99 BLT build's.

I did that with dark souls 2 and let me tell you it's not worth it.

You can't just post there asking for co-op, especially not with a new account. You need to jump through all the damn hoops and "contribute" to their garbage. They'll think you're a shitter if your post count is low and won't even try to help you.
>>

>You need to jump through all the damn hoops and "contribute" to their garbage. They'll think you're a shitter if your post count is low and won't even try to help you

Not him but damn, that's really shitty
>>
>>160990992
It's good and obviously a lot of effort went into it, it has some good stuff I really found interesting and made some connections I hadn't, but there's also some bits I think have almost no support and border on fan fiction.

Which is fine, and inevitable in your own interpretation of the lore. But a problem arises when you put in so much effort writing a 100+ page document that no one else even bothers doing their own and critical discussion gets replaced with links to The Paleblood Hunt.

Just because it's famous and a product of extreme effort doesn't mean it's somehow better or more accurate than a 3 sentence shitpost, provided you can support it with evidence. Whatshisname put in lots of disclaimers saying "this is only my interpretation" but that doesn't stop people on reddit, /v/ and even bbg using it as a catch-all source of information to give to people asking lore questions.

I admire it, enjoy parts of it and loathe its monopoly on lore discussion that stunted widespread discourse about certain ideas, since any new idea gets filtered through TPBH to be judged on worthiness.

Welcome to Plebbit
>>
>>160992342
That's not true at all. You can't even tell post count without going to someone's profile, and I doubt people do that to every single person.

Don't ask for coop on /r/Bloodborne though, they do get pissy because there's a dedicated Bloodnorne coop reddit to stop the main one getting flooded with coop threads.

Everyone rightfully shits on reddit, but the Bloodnorne community over there is pretty good. Their meta is a hilariously high (and then they do gem less fightclubs to further reduce build variety) but mostly everyone is helpful and there's some interesting lore stuff and a few chalice enthusiasts and maths guys who figured out some stuff and made nice guides.

the amount of bbg crossposters isn't low either, there was a thread with a guy asking advice on a 98 build and said please don't ask me why I'm doing 98, and a whole bunch of bbg people came out of the woodwork. Also Lumpy became common knowledge there a few weeks after here, and I never posted about him on reddit.

All I wanted was ask for some Coop for Dark Beast Paarl, but in order to ask for helf, you have to adhere to special "codenames" for bosses so newbies don't get spoiled and you have to keep the boss' name spoilertags.

So if you post "Looking for help with Paarl" you get banned....this is no joke. You have to write "DBP" if you wanna talk about Paarl...

Same for Micolash, you can't call him Mico, or Micolash Cage or whatever - it's "MHotN"

Fuck them, seriously.

In contrast, here I just asked for help for some chalice dungeons, and people just helped out and were pretty cool to play with.

PvP with gems is akin to Street fighter where one hit causes an OHKO, any form of lag would ruin the experience and the entire metagame is just being retards and rushing in for an attack. Or you actually play properly but one mistake = death.

PvP without gems is similar to Street Fighter how it's meant to be played, where players utilize spacing and footsies to get in damage whenever they can via making reads and punishing misreads.

I simply cannot believe you're reaching that PvE = PvP somehow when they are both completely separate from one another. One is the focus of the game and the other is an afterthought of a side game

I can't find any weapon as fun as the saw cleaver. I know saw spear is better for 50/50 and has double serrated but I hate the transformed moveset. I know all the ins and outs of the Saw Cleaver. It's low stamina consumption and transformation combo keeps me using it playthrough after playthrough. It builds beasthood so fast. My absolute favorite weapon is the Stake Driver, but saw cleaver is just too damn fun to ever pass up.

I''ve yet to find any weapon in this game as fun as the saws or the driver and I've tried them all.

>And it's barely even a theory
Back when I spread my findings and evidence, I was rejected repeatedly. It took Maria's third phase to make people shut the fuck up and accept my idea.
> he's not weak to Arcane
He's not a Chalice dweller either though.
>he doesn't do fire magic
Yes but his blood magic is a thing and blood magic is 100% Pthumerian.
> He's just a super stronk human
With the same proportions and garb, Wielding a dagger and scythe which BOTH strongly resemble weapons found in the hands of Pthumerians in the dungeons. Not to mention is unnatural longevity and knowledge of how to use the Crown of Illusions to safeguard the throne room.
>This doesn't make sense
It's the only possible answer. We know the chalices are subterranean. We know they were built by Pthumerians. We know the network of tunnels is positively gargantuan. .
>, it was a land swallowed by the sands. There's no fucking desert near Yharnam
There doesn't have to be any desert. We already know for a fact that Loran is underground. Whatever happened with the sands must have also occurred underground. Probably some sort of arcane elder god fuckery.
>. Loran was a Pthumerian city or country or whatever, a substantial distance from Pthumuru Ihyll
I don't even fucking disagree with this. You just need to swallow the fact that the Pthumerians didn't live above ground at all until much much later when they founded Cainhurst.
>But Chalice dungeons are impossible to properly analyse in lore terms because unlike the main game we can't take what we see for granted
That's a pretty stupid argument.
>. I highly doubt Pthumuru Ihyll (the fucking capital) looked identical to the shitty Hintertombs. Or that thier entire civilisation was based on formulaic 3 layer dungeons.
Why not? They clearly employed some sort of interdimension cheatcodes to even fucking create the chalice dungeons. Why does it have to be varied?
>>
>>161005950
>his blood magic is a thing
His magic is closer to the executioner's glove than Pthumerian shit or I'm forgetting a spell somewhere
>>
>>161005574
When you go for min max just think of all the stats that you wont level up and pick an origin that has the least points put into them.
>>
>>161006372
That's true, but it's still obviously blood magic. And I'm pretty sure the gloves were poorly translated, because I consider them to be a Cainhurst relic, not something belonging to Logarius's Executioners. The reason it's the same as the magic in the wheel is because both the wheel and the gloves were soaked in the blood of the subjects of Castle Cainhurst and it's Queen.
>>
>>161006527
>it's still obviously blood magic
Why

>not something belonging to Logarius's Executioners
Why makes you say that ? You even acknowledge the fact that their wheels does the same shit, it's perfectly logical to assume they managed to create some sort of magic using cainhurst blood or whatever, but the only ones who are seen using this form of magic are related to the executioners.

So why would you say it's pthumerian when we never see any boss use this kind of spell ?
>>
>>161006879
>Why
The color. It's red. I can't make it simpler than that.
> wheels does the same shit
Their wheel only does that because it got soaked in Cainhurst blood. Read the item description.
>but the only ones who are seen using this form of magic are related to the executioners.
Except for Queen Yharnam and Maria who both clearly have blood magic abilities too.
>So why would you say it's pthumerian
Because Pthumerians are the only ones with a real handle on how to use blood to generate magical effects.
>>
>>161007035
>It's red
Not the same red than real blood attacks, nor the same texture and appearance, see below

>Except for Queen Yharnam and Maria who both clearly have blood magic
Their attacks are clearly based on liquid blood, executionner's glove or wheel are not, the effects are not the same. Same shit with Logarius.

>Because Pthumerians are the only ones with a real handle on how to use blood to generate magical effects
And yet we never see them using those spells in the game. Pretty weird isn't it ?
>>
>>161007232
>>161007232
>Not the same red
Okay fine. Dark red is BLT, light red is ARC. You can't deny that both are blood based

>And yet we never see them using those spells in the game
So?

Look. I'll simplify this for you:
>It is said that the nobles found immeasurable delight in the dances of these vengeful specters
Cainhurst Nobles were playing with this thing for shits and giggles well before Logarius rolled in and killed them all. Executioners are borrowing this same angry ghost magic when they spin up their wheel.
>>
THE LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORE
>>
>>161007834
To continue to elaborate on this idea, The gloves are found in a chest in a room inside the castle that also has the Knight's Garb Set. They're being stored by Cainhurst, for Cainhurst. Cainhurst invented this magic, the Executioners are merely borrowing it.

But where is the Cainhurst Blood for Logarius to abuse? His weapons don't appear blood-soaked. How is he generating those evil skulls and other effects? With his own blood. Because he's Pthumerian. I mean shit, his scythe is almost identical to Pthumerian Elder's staff and his dagger is the same as the daggers wielded by Chalice Watchers.
>>
>>161007834
>arc is blood based
We don't really know

>So?
Ok so you admit you just pull things out of your ass, based on nothing present in the game and just try to warp the elements to suit your theory ?

>Executioners are borrowing this same angry ghost magic when they spin up their wheel.

The wheel and gloves both prove that Exec managed to come up with a summoing magic, either from vilebloods spirits they've killed, or more ancient ones (glove)

No because the gloves could summon spirits before the execs came to contact with cainhurst. The description says so. From that it's safe to assume that the execs came up with this kind of summoning magic and could use like Logarius do. The wheels, soaked in vileblood, came up reinforced from the purge in that you're right

Except that your version ignores the Wheel. The wheel is an extremely important thing here.

If we know the wheel got it's powers through Cainhurst blood, we can EASILY assume the same of the gloves.
>>
>>161011356
We alreadt talked about that. Logarius, EG, the wheels, all use the same magic, and yet cainhurst and pthumerian don't. If the cainhurst nobles had mastered this magic we would see traces of it, and logarius or the execs wouldn't use it. Also the pthumerians don't use it either, so your theory relies upon literally nothing

So you're retarded. The catalyst mentions vengeful spirits from an ancient past older than cainhurst and from another place, and also vilebloods. The catalyst seems to be more blood of slain ennemies rather than vileblood only.

Also you can use the EG even when you're not a vileblood, using your own blood.

>come to /bbg/ to relax

>>161012075
>Because it's one of the most powerful tools in the game
So? The Cainhurst line is more focused on the value of their heritage. It makes sense that they'd abuse stuff deriving directly from their blood. BLT is more directly blood based. ARC seems to be more of a ritual/magic/great one deal. Most of the in-game magic is either accidentally and clumsily invoking the power of the cosmos or by appealing to great ones for assistance through rituals and tools. Did you know Labyrinth Ritekeepers wield a baby's skull as censer and a severed left hand with a wedding right as a catalyst? They're evoking eldritch anger at bastard children to cast their spells.

Oh right. Okay, I've got it worked out.

>Wheels and glove absorb the spirit of the vengeful foes they've killed and that's a property the executioners and logarius mastered
I was opposed to this for more than one reason. First of all, Gloves have no canonical connection to Logarius or his crew. I maintain that they're simply gloves that belonged to Cainhurst's Royal headsman/executioner. The other reason being that there's no evidence that the Wheel was developed for beasthunting or ever even conceived of before Logarius took it upon himself to cleanse Cainhurst or that Logarius can trap "souls". The way the descriptions and dialogue talks about it, there wasn't any sort of extended conflicted. Logarius raised a mob of disciples and went in and "slaughtered" them. The wheel description talks about Vileblood rage and manifesting that anger when you use it. It's clearly been given this ability by it's contact with Vileblood. Though I actually hold that it's Pthumerian heritage that's important to make your blood a good catalyst for arcane blood effects.

> First of all, Gloves have no canonical connection to Logarius or his crew
Except their abilities which are the same than Logarius'

>The other reason being that there's no evidence that the Wheel was developed for beasthunting or ever even conceived of before Logarius
It's called Logarius' wheel so yeah he probably invented it or made its use mainstream. And yeah it wasn't used for beasthunting but only to kille ennemies of the church

>The way the descriptions and dialogue talks about it, there wasn't any sort of extended conflicted
We know that it ended up in a church, but there was an extended conflict, which started when the nobles stole the vile blood and contested the hegemony of the church on blood

>Logarius raised a mob of disciples and went in and "slaughtered" them
That's how it ended yes

> The wheel description talks about Vileblood rage and manifesting that anger when you use it
Yes

>It's clearly been given this ability by it's contact with Vileblood
Not when you consider Logarius and the glove which don't rely on it

>Though I actually hold that it's Pthumerian heritage that's important to make your blood a good catalyst for arcane blood effects
I've given this some more thought and it doesn't hold up really. Scenaro wise, it would me more realistic and interesting if each faction had some special power or way to use blood or its side effects. Cainhurst is bloodtinge, choir is arcane and slug magic and its disciple, the execs would also have their own, the vengeful spirit magic. Your theory make the pthumerian all powerful and the cainhurst nobility possessing too many powers. And once again, we never see phtumerian nor vilebloods nor cainhurst nobles using this type of magic.

Do what you will with that now

>There's also no evidence of this Cainhurst executioner you speak
The gloves are a treasure of Cainhurst that the nobles played with for kicks. That doesn't really match up with the story of Logarius kicking down the door and killing literally everybody. How could the nobles play with the gloves for kicks if they're already dead and haunting them? Why are they stored in that library with the Knight's Set if they're supposedly something the Executioners used? Wouldn't the gloves be found somewhere Church related if they were something the Church used or owned in any capacity? They're fucking tidily tucked into a nice little chest in a well guarded corner of the castle.

>>
>>161018568
The gloves existed before Logarius and the nobles could have very well captured an exec using it or stealing it, and then playing with its magic for kicks. The fact that they find it exotic and of any worth tends to indicate it's foreign to them
>>
>>161018424
>Except their abilities which are the same than Logarius
Yes, which I reconcile by saying that Logarius uses his OWN blood to achieve these effects. Don't you see it? We're shown what's required to cause those red skulls and then we're shown somebody using red skulls. We can assume that he's using the same method. He dresses like them, controls their magic and uses their tools. He's a fucking Pthumerian and maybe even related to Cainhurst directly.
> he probably invented it

There's no reference to anything else. There's no begining, only an ending. That means it was one thing. One event.

>There's no begining, only an ending.

It could but it doesn't seem likely, given the old gloves and the long history between the church and cainhurst

It was a really really long time ago. Honestly, I find it hard to believe Alfred ever met Logarius in person. The Martyr seems pretty fucking decrepit and the events at the castle are long over too. Alfred doesn't even really speak like he was a witness to the purge of the Vileblood.

Not immediately no. It stands to reason there was a short time where they were merely aware of it and upset about it. >>161024185

the ps4s i see on there are usually way too cheap so i assume they are either stolen or the owner is lying about its functionality
>>
>>161024684
Not really. She is potentially only the 3rd boss, but more than that, you most likely have forgotten most of what you did or where you have been, and that will bite you in the ass.

If you had played before, you would be able to piece what you have already done through experience, but you won't have that if you haven't been through the game before.

>>161024829
Just make them prove that they work. Just remember that Gamestop tries to give people a 3rd of what they sell shit for, so if it is more than that price (i.e. more than a third of what GS sells them for) then it is probably legit.

Amelia is the third mandatory boss. Gasgoine and either Cleric or BSB must be killed to reach her.
>>
A second hand working ps4 (only ps4) is roughly 150 bucks worth. As long as it is no slim or pro it isn't stolen or so. Regarding the functionality, you have to see that for yourself.

So I've played through all of the Souls games and have finally picked up a PS4 and am going to play Bloodborne. A couple questions before I leave this thread until I've finished it.

1. Are there any stats that I should completely ignore (ie: Resistance in DaS)
2. Any weapons that seem good but are objectively shit and should be avoided?
3. Should I also pick up the dlc now or wait until I've completed the game once?
4. Any other, non-spoilery tips I should know beforehand?
>>
>>161025690
Gate key emblem comes from Sword Hunter badge, which is dropped by Cleric.
>>
>>161025690
Thats what I thought but you need the Sword Hunter Badge to buy the hunter emblem. So yeah, one of the two must also be beaten.

There is a doc in the OP with a spoiler free Q&A if you want to check it out but anyway
1. You don't need more than 15 endurance, 20 is the absolute maximum
2.No
3.The DLC is goat tier so if you're a souls player you should love it. Much recommended but that's your money

That's obvious, what I mean is that they didn't know the dungeons so they were exploring then. If they were of Pthumeme origin they would just walk around it

>Yeah, I never really liked that. It dilutes the lore. There's no explanation for those lickers.
Ignoring things you don't like will not make them go away. The explanation is that they are not so especial as you make them be and are just around places with much blood. Like a castle full of vampires

>Not THAT old. Holy shit. She'd have be hundred or thousands of years old to have witness the age of the great ones.
Like I said we have no way to measure it. She's at least old enough to be born at the time of Burgertown when that scholar came with special blood wich means she might have heard or even seen stuff from dungeons.

>>161025786
1) Endurance is no where near as important as Dark Souls. Level until you are comfortable with your stamina, but don't just assume you need 40, anything over 20 is usually overkill.

2) All weapons are good, but I suggest sticking with physical damage weapons for first playthrough, because doing a BLT or ARC build blind is really hard. You need to know where specific things are in order to be viable.

3) do DLC before NG+, you'll thank me later.

4) ARC only affects Fire/Bolt/Arcane damage types. Weapons say they have ARC scaling but if they are dealing 0 elemental damage then the scaling is multiplying by zero, it won't help physical damage at all.

Gems are important.

Large bosses can be crippled by targeting specific body parts repeatably. EG hitting a left leg over and over. This causes stagger and eventually 1.5x damage multiplier against that location once it breaks. Crippling heads of large bosses lets you do a visceral (riposte).

Charge R2s are your Backstabs. Not abusable like souls. But opportunities for stealth are more common.

so i'm thinking i'm retarded.

how does the damage work in these games?
say i got my saw cleaver, says physical 171 (+242)
is it 242 dmg? 413 dmg? I know the 242 scales with stats, some say it scales up to 50 or so in str/skl? Arc goes higher?

something like moonlight sword, that scales with Arcana. Does Arc also increase physical damage or only tweak its arcane damage?

also most weapons seem to have 250 dur and are nearly indestructible but as soon as you throw a -52 dur gem, it breaks every half an hour. what gives?
>>
>>161030465
It's 413, there is the base damage and the scaling damage.

Stat cap is 50 but arcane goes nice until 70, yes

Moonlight sword is quality arc.

>Does Arc also increase physical damage or only tweak its arcane damage
You need to convert a weapon to arcane or elemental damage so it scales on your arc stat

>as soon as you throw a -52 dur gem, it breaks every half an hour
I don't know I was thinking about the same thing earlier
>>
>>161030639
so the Arc stat only scales blood arcane fire and bolt damage?
the moonlight comes by default with physical and arcane damage. the physical is affected by str/skl (B/C) and the arcane by arc (A)?
>>
>>161030465
Your Cleaver's damage is 171 + 242 = 413.
The 171 is the base damage of the weapon, and the 242 is showing you what damage you gain as a result of the scaling and saturation. The game's just breaking up the numbers for you.
>some say it scales up to 50 or so in str/skl? Arc goes higher?
Yeah, that 242 is just a result of the damage calculation. You meet a cap at 25, and another at 50. Hunter Tools scale well past 50, though.

Not blood, that's blt. Only bolt fire and arc

>the moonlight comes by default with physical and arcane damage. the physical is affected by str/skl (B/C) and the arcane by arc (A)?
Yes. untricked is mostly physical and scales more on str and skl, and tricked is a mish mash that no one really knows how it scales, but the sure thing is that beams scale on arc
>>
>>161030768
Arc scales with fire, bolt, and arcane, not blood--that's Bloodtinge. You can convert weapons by slotting in elemental gems, which completely cancel out the physical damage of the weapon so that it now only scales by Arcane. Not all weapons can be converted, though.
There's a pastebin in the OP you can check out for more information on how AR is calculated.
>>
>>161030443
dude you suck mang
>>
>>161030465
413 damage, the first number is the base damage of the weapon the +XX is how much extra damage gems and scaling are giving you.

STR/SKL increase physical damage, ARC increases elemental damage and BLT increases Blood damage. No exceptions. Technically they scale up to 99, but at 25 you've gotten 50% of the total gains possible and at 50 you have 85% of total gains. So spending an extra 49 points for the final 15% of potential damage isn't worth it. The exception is Arcane spells (NOT WEAPONS) which do scale well all the way to 99.

- Durability curses are wweird, they don't lower total durability they just increase how much gets lost each hit. I don't know what the number means.

The orange represents Blunt damage, thus Physical. The blue represents Arcane damage, thus Arcane.

Notice how the attack modifier for the untricked's Arcane is always half of the Physical modifier. And notice how the Arcane attack modifier in the tricked version is 70% of the Physical modifier.

For each thing you hit during an atack, it reduces a number of the weapon's durability, when you hit enough stuff it goes from, say, 250 to 249. With dura down gems the numbers go down faster but it doesn't stack with other dura down curses. I can't explain for shit but it's safe to use more than one dura down gems since it's the same as using one.

Only got this game for about two weeks so dont know too much about the weapons yet, but are saws the easy mode in this game? Im watching some guy do a first blind playthrough and he is wrecking every single boss first try just mashing R1. Even guys like Ebrietas went down in seconds. Am I doing something wrong, I have been using the cane so far and it was never that easy.

Pump SKL and keep the cane as it's also a saw in whip mode. Keep playing blind and only come back once you finish. The game is too good to be spoilered.

Do Sinister Bell Maidens appear in regular FRC Ihyll dungeons? I entered a random shared glyph, and there was no sinister bell ringing in Layer 1, but the moment I arrived in Layer 2, a Sinister Bell Maiden appeared.

Does this only happen in shared glyphs or something? I know for a fact this particular dungeon wasn't Sinister, so I'm wondering how the bell maiden appeared. This was my first time doing a shared FRC from that list of public dungeons, since I didn't have the rite materials to create my own FRC to spelunk.

Go fight NG+7 Laurence with an unupgraded Cane if you want some le epic challenge. Let people play how they want.

Besides, most "casual" or first time players gravitate toward Ludwig's, due to the perceived high damage and stagger, I know I fucking did on my first playthrough.

Pleb detected.

When I'm SRRCing on my STR/ARC Amydgalan Arm character, I greet people with "Make Contact" for a couple reasons.

1: It's appropriate for my character and I enjoy using character appropriate gestures
2: It gives the other player a chance to respond with the same gesture. Players who respond to "Make Contact" by mimicking the gesture are almost always bros and a pleasure to play with.

50/25 str/skl, use one of the Saws until you get to layer two of Ailing Loran.

Beast Claw builds are super annoying to set up if you intend to run the game with them, because if you want to be a reasonable level you have to suffer through depth four chalices at BL30 or some shit, and then if you want to use Beast's Embrace you have to kill Laurence as soon as possible too.

It's fun though, all that aside. One of my favorite weapons.

50/25 is the "ideal" build, but if you dont want to level too much then a basic Str build works too with 13 to 25 skill (Claw only req 12 Skil but 13 lets you use Cannon)

Just use Saw Cleaver until then.

For PVE, 40+ primary stats with a +10 weapon and DLC gems will destroy everything in the game.

If you want to be tryhard PvP then you can think about whether you wanna be 50/25 or not.

Patch 10.0 when?
>>
>>161057364
>Immune to frenzy

Fucking no. Being able to mash Bloodletter L2 should never ever be a thing.

Just make it so you get an extra insight whenever you naturally gain it, like by finding/killing a boss.

Anybody up to giving me a hand with NG++ Ludwig? I'll be ringing at the gate, pass is "powkeg"

I'm a mite busy right now, but I'll be with you in a bit. Don't wait up if you get other help though.

Thanks dude, nobody else yet so far, so I'll hang out here

What's a good level for the DLC? Prima says 65, or should I wait until about after Mergo?
>>
>>161058293
About around Mergo is my recommendation. It's about endgame difficulty

>>161058015
Alright, with that out of the way, I'm on my way now.
>>
Shit, my bad. I dodged into his main head like a dolt and got stuck.
>>
>>161058595
I was unaware him putting his hand back on the floor had a hitbox.
>>
tfw still can't think of a name for my BLT build
Names for all of my other builds came to me so naturally. Now I'm completely and utterly stuck.
>>
Alright, it was enough to get him down to phase 2, where I almost had him. Phase 1 seems to be the real problem for me
>>
Many thanks dude, I appreciate it. He's always given me a hard time
>>
>>161059269
Yeah dude, no problem.

For future coop, by the way, please don't use Fire Paper when your coop is an arc build. Oil Urns work wonders with a fully gemmed fire weapon, especially with the serration bonus against beasts. 2500+ damage running R2s are nutso powerful, and Fire Paper eats the oil debuff with way less impact.
>>
>>161059373
Oh whoops, my bad. I didn't even think about that. I'll keep that in mind. Thanks again though.
>>
So i just made a pretty easy dungeon with keeper, hotdog, and headless, each layer switch is exact same, go up elevator infront of lamp, run around top and pull lever

The kicker is, this is the glyph code:

ratdjapz
>>
>>161061653
That sounds boring.
What we really need is a 4-layer CRF dungeon that starts off with roaming Descendants and Abhorrent Beasts, with the side room having three Witches in it. Naturally, the rest of the floors would also have roaming Abhorrent Beasts, Hotdogs and other nastiness in it.
The bosses would be two Descendants at once on floor 1, a Headless Bloodletting Beast on floor 2, an Amygdala backed up by a Celestial Emissary on floor 3 and a single Brainsucker on floor 4.
>>
>>161062531
Not even One Reborn, but every corpse is replaced with a bell maiden spawning red spiders? It's like you're not even trying.
>>
>>161063465
Why not throw in a roaming Laurence in an oil pit.
>>
>>161063465
Haha, holy shit. That's monstrous.

Okay, I've had a hard week at work, so tomorrow (GMT) I'm starting a new character and I'd love to have someone reliable to Co-op the game with me all day. Anyone available?
>>
Been farming 5pwu Izs Watchers for 2 hours now and the only arcane they dropped was a 25%. Is that the usual drop rate of these things?
>>
>start BLT build
>accidentally put a point into instead of BLT
>tfw not realising it until I go to level up again
Gonna kill myself, BRB
>>
>>161065585
Try to have high insight, I think the drop rate for arc or elemental slightly increases
>>
>>161065585
And as soon as I post this I get a MOTHERFUCKING 27.2% WITH FUCKING ATACK DOWN FUCK YOU TOO RNG

>>161065609
Oh, thanks will try that.
>>
>>161065594
Where did tou put it? Maybe it's not so bad.

>>161065745

I put it into ARC so now I've got 7.
EVERYTHING'S RUINED MY HUNTING CAREER IS OVER
SOMEONE GIVE ME A SKY BURIAL
>>
>>161065694
I don't have any evidence besides my anectodal experience for the insight thing, but I remember dropping a shitload of arcane gems on my str character farming watchers, and when I reduced my insight to 20 I started to get almost only physicals.

I rarely dropped arcane gems on my arc characters until now tho despite having +80 insights, but I got a lot of elementals. Didn't farm as much on this character yet either
>>
>>161065609
I'm sure that's bullshit, but I also feel it kind of work and I get more rare items with high insight.

Souls RNG is really fucking streaky as well. If you get nothing but crap I suggest fully restarting the application. Who knows what they use to seed the RNG, time/date is common because it changes every second. But From might have just made a whacky formula that includes insight as a variable.

If we could organise 100 people to kill something 100 times with each person at a different level of insight (0-99) and record results. Lumpy would be a good target, Ritual Blood, Bullets, Vials and Gems (tons of possible rare effects).
>>
>>161066026
Yeah we would need to do serious experiments to prove this that's why I told anon it was just my anecdotal experience but it's something we're not alone to have noticed
>>
>tfw amelia is actually almost challenging if you tackle her with a dinky +3 weapon and average stats
>>
>>161067578
No but seriously, Amelia's one of my favourite fights in the game.
>>
>>161067578
>>161067923
please tell me you're the amelia anon
>>
>>161068504
Nope, just some random faggot who will forever lament the fact that amelia will never do vocals in a black metal band
>>
>>161068504
Niether of them were me.

Video is coming guys. The Bl10 video will be seperate and uploaded in the next couple hours. Full guide and final leveled kill will be ready when it's ready, I just havnt had time.

I also made a new YouTube channel, because I didn't want anyone from 4chan seeing my random old stuff, or people from my random old stuff seeing this.

I hope Amelianon doesn't become my legacy. I'm not even obsessed with the boss itself, but rather its place in the game. Amelia is the guardian of Chunks, DLC, Depth 4-5 dungeons and so much more. So seeing everything possible before her was interesting.

I prefered Maths Anon, but the formulas are common knowledge now. So I'm not special. thank god, I hated typing out each time someone asked best gem setup
>>

Is the reiterpallasch worth it on a pure skl build until i get the rakuyo? Or should i just stick with the cane?

I played through this game recently with the sort of general gist of the story spoiled for me and it wasn't until the last couple days I looked around and read up on explanations for things floating around.

Something really strikingly was absent in the lore info I found: why exactly are the cords themselves specifically important? Obviously they're the flesh of a great one and all and have connections to them but I just feel like everyone takes these for granted at face value.

"Ah yes here is the cord of the eye in this place, this shows the character either attempted to elevate themselves or make contact or stole it or whatever'. But... what exactly about the cords specifically is important? You find Kos' corpse and the Orphan, you run into the wet nurse and invisible mergo.

So arguments about what counts as a great one aside. Why not just eat the whole damn thing? Are you eating the cords when you 'imbibe' them? So again, why not just set up a little table on the beach and roast yourself up some kos kutlets? If 3 little dried up nasty pieces of umbilical cord make you a great one then what would her entire waist do?

I do have my own rather simple thought but I want to hear from people who have been discussing this longer than me.
>>
>>161072138
Umbilical Cords connect to parenthood and all that stuff that's lore significant. Umbilical cords are what give people the life until you are ready to sustain yourself. Plus scientifically you have stem cells and such.
