Not necessarily shilling since I haven't tried it yet, but if any of you horrible faglords need something to do while waiting for nost, one of the upcoming Darkfall reboots, "Darkfall: New Dawn" is free until the 29th or something.
It's still early access so I wouldn't suggest more than that unless you were really into it.
For anyone that played original Darkfall (not unholy wars), the original DF got licensed out to two competing dev groups. One is pretty close to original Darkfall, called "Rise of Agon". This one, "New Dawn", is original Darkfall but with additional UO inspired elements, making it more of the sandbox the game was originally intended to be - that means local banking, city government stuff, trade routes, etc. So more sandbox, less gankbox, if that makes sense.
Just throwing it out there if anyone gives a fuck, which you probably do not. Again, i would not suggest spending money on it at this point, if ever.

Why do people even bother using damage meter addons if they aren't going to properly configure them? It's always that shitty one with the red background. Why do people on p. servers always lie about having played retail vanilla? They never go so far as to say they killed KT but ALWAYS mention that their retail guild at least killed a few bosses in naxx. Usually compounded by have some shit story (lie) about how the naxx guild drama tore their guild apart. But then when it comes to playing the game, they don't have any fucking idea about what was different in vanilla. I've never raided before in WoW but I want to dedicate myself to the new server. But obviously good guilds usually only invite people who can prove that they've accomplished things in the past. Just apply with your actual experience. Even experience from retail. Most people lie about their vanilla experience anyway. Just be honest and show that what you don't yet know, you're willing to learn. Let them know you'll be coming raid ready with consumables and the appropriate gear. Raid encounters can be taught to a new player very easily but discipline and commitment to your character and therefor your guild is priceless. Also, you don't need to apply to a top notch guild. You can play with a middle of the road guild to learn and if you find yourself outpacing them - apply to another guild. I honestly think it's more fun to be in a "learning" guild than an established one that will stomp out raids the first time they step foot in them. Growing as a guild is a nice experience.

You don't need two classes.
Literally all you need to join a fun and decent guild is to not be a douche. Be friendly, open to learning and cool with taking constructive criticism. Willingness to learn and improve is far more important, and most people lie about their vanilla experience (a lot, it's really weird).
There are some super tryhard guilds out there, but far more friendly and chill groups who just want to have fun and not spend all night wiping. Be yourself, make friends, have fun.

You can join a /vg/ guild if you'd like but it's not something i would suggest. Totally up to you, but /vg/ guilds have 10x the drama that "normie" guilds do along with 10x the amount of meme'ing and shitposting in guild chat.

Right now, using the elysium/nost discord or forums, is the best way to find a new group. There are tons of guilds looking for fresh people and very very few of them would look down on you for not having vanilla raiding experience.

Nostalrius is the only thing that keeps me going. I have scoliosis so my back is hurting a lot, crippling depression(I think of suicide daily), really bad anxiety issues when out in public, and am extremely bipolar. When the frogs shut down nostalrius it was like a part of me died, but now, that it is returning I have been brought back to life.

Experience will not matter as much as a willingness to learn. I'd rather have a new player in my guild who can absorb our current strats rather than that inevitable asshole who always complains because his old guild used to do the encounter differently. Vanilla WoW is enough of a time commitment that focusing on one character is plenty enough.

If you end up getting to the point where you're just raid logging, then I would recommend an alt.

I'm not planning on looking for a guild until I get into the game. I'll usually end up finding a few people I like that play well and I'll just hop into their guild. It's just always worked out before.
