In a 2v2, Smoke is inherently defensive, and unless your Kutuzov is out there actively scouting, the team will be entirely dependent on Bismarck's seaplane for spotting. MK + Bisko is pretty much dependent on an enemy willing to engage in a brawl at close ranges and which is unwilling or unable to break off.

The setup of 1BB 1CA is actually really interesting, because at T8 all three BBs and Atago, MK, and Chapayev are all pretty viable in combination. Going for Atago for the view range or Chapayev for the stealth firing could both be just as, if not more viable than MK's defensive smokes.

The US DDs are really fun, and generally a good line. The CAs are pretty mediocre.
AP is useful situationally in cruisers and even DDs, like when enemy cruisers are presenting broadside, especially at closer ranges.

US DD are made to contest cap by killing all other DDs in close quarters and then spam BBs with HE from long range also high tiers get good torps so they are very fun and competitive but I don't recommend USN cruisers they got powercrepped by the new lines ,you should use AP on all types of ships (even DDs can get good damage shooting at superstructure) but only when the ship you're shooting at is broadside ,smokes are used either as escape or as an ofensive tool smoke up somewhere close enough to the enemy so they can't just escape your range but not so close you can get radared/rushed and shoot at everyone because you are pretty much immune to anything but torps.

USN BBs are flexible in their roles, they may not have the range of the of the IJN or the brawling capabilities of German BBs, but they're good for multiple roles in a single game. They can kite German BBs from a range where German shell dispersion is worse or get close to IJN BBs just enough to equalize their range advantage.
