Nope, it's a new ability. Basically, once every minute, there's a chance for Chameleon deathclaws to trigger an invis buff that lasts for around 15 seconds. After which it goes on cooldown. Like a stealth boy, they can't be targeted in VATS, and it becomes scary as fuck fighting them because of the invis.

This is disabled if the deathclaw drops below 20% health. Note that if it's a legendary Chameleon, the particle effect will actually reveal the location. And same goes for any fire or bleed effect from weapons.

There's also some perks removed from the game I'll be adding in related to deathclaws. Originally they were supposed to gain damage resistance based on the number of enemies hitting them.

I lowered the damage per bullet though. The problem with miniguns is 90% of the shots miss at long range.

This way it increases the accuracy without giving every bullet splash damage.

That IS decreased spread.

The vanilla minigun is WIDLY inaccurate. From about 20 yards it has an 80 foot cone of bullet spread. That's ridiculous. Its only good at melee range almost. This webm here, now outdated, is how accurate the Tri-barrel is...look at how much spread even the best barrel gets. This was the webm where I tried a 32 shot effect but that caused audio to break.

When I say HD remaster, I only mean some assets, not every last asset. Skyrim's HD remaster wasn't a COMPLETE overhaul, just some of the stuff you'll notice more-so like the roads/paths, castles and other big things.

Well I can't say I saw /cfog/ dying coming.
It started off very well, but the last week or so has been like watching someone take their final breathes.

I'll admit I was one of the /fog/ naysayers. I didn't like the community of it (or of the TES general), but hopefully the sour elements have migrated elsewhere.

I don't think I'll ever like Fallout 4, but, in time, maybe I'll grow to like /fog/.

Pretty much means that states vote for the president and people vote for how they want their state to vote. Each state gets a number of votes, with 2 guaranteed ones and more based off of population with 1 additional vote being the minimum. I own several cowboy outfits, which I wear around town. I want to get used to wearing them before I move back to /cfog/, so I can fit in easier. I tip my cowboy hat to the Obsidian and Interplay fags and speak Canon as often as I can, but rarely does anyone manage to respond.

Thought I'd try Nuka World in Fallout 4 finally as I'm a bored pleb but the nigger crashes every time I try to start it and it's always at the exact same point. Ill be riding the train and the announcer says some shit about Fizz Top mountain, then the game freezes for a moment and instantly goes to desktop with no warning

I've tried this with all mods enabled and all mods disabled, reinstalled the game, tried with and without F4SE, updated and removed ENB, nothing fixes it. Anyone have a clue how to solve?

I'm not 100% positive since I've never done it before, but porting NV to FO4 should be about the same process for porting NV to Skyrim, you'll probably need the Skyrim version of OS. The newest version of OS for Fallout 4 has options show up for Skyrim, Fallout 3, NV, and Fallout 4, so maybe it could work, too.

I feel ashamed to even ask this here but where should I start looking for the cause of these doubled names? It only seems to happen for some weapons, and in xEdit the names are all as they should be. Is it something to do with VIS or DEF_UI? I installed them both as per instructions.

Both Lafferty and the Van Graffs have evidence behind lockpick checks, which can be taken up to Ranger Jackson to turn finish the associated quest non-violently. Considering the soldiers? Considering the Casino size? 10,000 is a conservative estimate.

Let's get down to it for a second and use something firm for our estimates. Caesar's legion is designed after a Roman legion. Let's assume he has around 10,000 men in his army across the river, because Roman Legions numbered 5,000 and always mobilized in pairs. The existence of the Legate supports this idea. Adding on Auxillary forces and slave labor, this is likely closer to 15,000 to 20,000 people in total at the Camp. Since the NCR and Caesar are evenly matched, you might say they have the same number of people, but NCR seems to kill legionaries at a greater rate, and 1 NCR soldier is likely worth several Legionaries. However, the NCR also has more land to control, farmers to protect, raiders to root out, etc. So Maybe somewhere between 20,000 to 30,000 NCR troops in the area in total.

Let's assume that each casino has a staff of, say, 300 people. 3 casinos, around 1,000 staff members. Then you count in visitors and Troops off duty and NCR migrants visiting and It's not unlikely for the Strip to get 10,000 visitors constantly. The number of residents is obviously different, but visitors aren't necessarily residents.

As for freeside, I always saw it less as squatters and more as a poor city plagued by income disparity, with the rich occupying the Strip. These aren't all homeless destitute, they're just not well off either.

The U.S. right now has a population of around 324 million people, and out of that we have 2 million people in the armed forces, both active and in reverse.

If the NCR has a similar ratio, we are talking about a force of around 6,000 people.

But given how low that seems I would be willing to give them 10,000-15,000 soldiers total.

That's not too low of an estimate. I'd put the NCR at around 1-3 Million by NV, due to the expansion it seems to have undergone. Remember, the NCR doesn't necessarily breed its citizens, it annexes them. That's why the military is so stretched.

The US is a bad example because it's a nation in relative peace. In wartime it's not uncommon to see 5-10% of the population in the military. Assuming the NCR is pursuing aggressive expansion, which they are, that's anywhere from 100,000 to 200,000 people in their army, I'd say. If they're stretched thin and can only afford a small amount of people to the most valuable southwest object, Vegas, while defending their own borders and settlements, I'd say a 30,000 number in Vegas is fairly accurate.

Dead Money was great. The narrative is fun, the backstory was interesting, and the challenge was unique. The setting might not be too pretty, but the survival aspect was totally welcome. Holorifle remains my favorite weapon in a fallout game. The ending was god-tier too.

Lonesome Road had some inconsistencies, but the atmosphere really feels like, well, a Lonesome journey. The levels were fun and vertically designed.

HH was meh but the weapons were cool, I guess? And the Survivor's stuff makes it FAR more fascinating than Nuka.

Honest Hearts was like Point Lookout without any of the fun in terms of environmental design, which the most panzy ass character ever(Daniel), and some of the most heavy handed and forced "MUH MESSAGE!" narrative design Obsidian has done.

And Lonesome Road was a linear slog less enjoyable then even OA, where you get your ear talked off by the biggest idiot in the wasteland.

Nothing about any of those DLC was enjoyable.

And both the BoS and Enclave crossed the whole nation on foot in less then a year.

Its not THAT dangerous, and while there is no single trade route cross country, there are tons of intersecting trade routes.

A theme isn't necessarily a moral. Hell, all the DLC's deliver on that. In the case of NV's DLC, it's just a simple question. "To what extent should our decisions be based in History" or "Is the old world worth bringing back." That's not a message, it's a simple dilemma, and we see arguments for and against it in the game and DLCs.

I mean, I have nothing against building a raider army either, but the fact that you have to raid your own settlements because there's two in game cities is really fucking dumb. It seems like the game gives you a lot of STUFF to do, but no reason to actually do any of it. The only reason you build settlements is for the sake of doing so. Not only does settlement building not affect the main quests or the rest of the game, it doesn't even feel rewarding.

Imagine if for the main quests, you had to conquer a certain number of locations for your faction to consolidate power. That would make much more sense. Or if each settlement had a "boss" that had to be convinced with a speech check. Or if there were existing settlements that you can choose to oust. WHY DID YOU FUCK THIS UP BETHESDA. Literally where do we ever see this. In the institute endings it's literally all about going back to the past, or at least an idealized version of it. If the idea is so boring and generic as "Keep moving forward" you can argue that for any game that uses a linear conception of time.

Then FO4 doesn't have any of that. In NV doing quests and shit for factions affects your ending, convincing them rather than fighting them, accessing more tools or options, changing hostility and enemy NPCs, or having new allies in battle. With nothing left of his past, he is forced to side with one of the main factions, and help build a better future for the Commonwealth, and thus himself.

Again, these can be accomplished with a very bare town. There's no reason to go above and beyond, or to keep happiness particularly high.

Yes, the story is trash, the "good" option feels like Bethesda suddenly remembered that people like player choice so they added it without actually putting any work into it, the setting is essentially a really poorly done version of New Vegas, and playing it in survival mode means having to ride that fucking tram a dozen times between the Commonwealth and Nuka World.

The only redeeming parts of the DLC are the creatures (other than the Gatorclaw) and the Handmade Assault Rifle.

It felt like Bethesda was trying to approximate New Vegas only they failed spectacularly.

I liked Lonesome Road I don't know what you're all talking shit about.

It was linear but really all I care about is that a DLC give me an experience I won't get in the base game, and that's what Lonesome Road was.

Honest Hearts was probably the worst in that respect because it really was something that struck me as "could have been in the base game but they ran out of time/money."

Like, I got all mods I could find before + Settlement Keywords but it ended up a huge mess where I had to struggle against the interface for every single building block.


I have Settlement Keywords, Homemaker, Alternate Settlements, NXPro Farming, OCDecorator, Crafting Workbenches and Northland Diggers, plus a few extra misc ones not worth mentioning.

I know evil is petty and it feels good to stick it to someone, but at some point it just stops feeling fun, and for me that was around the second settlement.
When I bring my mighty raider strike force down on Old Man Rodgers to steal his two bottles of water and a cabbage I can't feel satisfied with it because there's really no challenge in it.
I don't even get that sadistic human enjoyment of stomping something smaller than me (like a cockroach or a spider), because an underdevelopment Commonwealth is just SO below that level. It's like trying to get enjoyment out of breathing because of all the bacteria you kill just because a guy really doesn't like it. It gets boring after a while, and the dude's bitching isn't gonna be enough for long.

Outside of that Ghoul Farm, and maybe the robot farm, the Commonwealth just feels like... nothing.

It feels emptier than fucking Fallout 3, and DC got nuked so hard that if it was an underage hooker it would have been lost its and the next 25 generations of her family's virginity. Boston barely got one yet there's no rebuilding of civilization here. DC had the constant Mutant threat which stopped any proper city development which created the Raider threat in a vicious cycle, Las Vegas did a great job at rebuilding itself even before the NCR hit town (House's defense grid nonwithstanding, the lore says at least 7 nukes still hit Nevada), but Boston is just... meh. Institute I guess?

Can you even raid the big stuff, like Diamond City and Goodneighbour?

Doylistically, I'd like to have some good/cool shit to raid after finishing Nuka World without having to spend hours crafting my own settlements.

Settlements could grow to a certain point then get attacked by synths or raiders or muties or whatever then get taken down a few notches, rise and repeat until you set up some proper settlements.

Before the NCR and House they had at least viable towns in Primm, Goodsprings, Jacobstown (but that doesn't count), Boulder City, what now is Camp Searchlight, Novac and Nipton.

All house did when the NCR was at the door was renovate the Strip, assert an actual power structure, and use the internal generator of The Lucky 38 to get supply power to the Strip. He did a lot true, but Pre-House/NCR the Nevada was doing a lot better than Washington was right after Broken Steel (they obviously gotten better seeing the Brotherhood can afford that fucking expedition).

If you get close they just suddenly turn red and start shooting. -They let anyone just walk up to their base, despite the fact you could be an NCR ranger in plain clothes here to scout the place for a possible attack

The idea that you can be so hated by a faction that they know to attack you on sight, and can then just turn around and get them all to forget who you are simply by wearing stock body armor, is akin to Hitler hiding out in the American ranks, while doing nothing to disguise himself besides put on a typical American solider uniform.

THIS is exactly why New Vegas was fucking broken.

Don't do disguise mechanics unless you can go full on Hitman level, and actually make it work in a way that makes sense.

Avllone has made it pretty clear the likelihood of anyone other then Beth doing a Fallout game is basically zero at this point.

Obsidian already fumbled NV too much, and, as Avellone pointed out, BEthesda has a habit of buying developers they like/who they think have talent, and yet they have made no move to buy Obsidian, despite the fact Feargus, Obsidian's CEO, has said he is open to being bought.

The only people besides Bethesda Game Studio who are likely to make another Fallout game is that other Bethesda studio they opened in like Canada or w/e

My personal little headcannon for my PC was that the initial daring optimism of "I WILL FIND MY SON!" was almost immediately cut down by just how fucked things are in the commonwealth.

This is helped by the fact that I'm playing survival with the immersive combat mod that gives you an initial boost with a small pre-war basement of supplies, but takes away the late-game vanilla godhood that weapons and perks offer. I've been to Diamond city twice, and while the trip's been easier each time, I always wind up limping home with my share of bruises, but also a fair bit of swag. Explosives are far more deadly now, so Super Mutant Quarterbacks are a serious fucking threat now instead of a laughable embarrassment. It doesn't matter how far away I am, I've never successfully shot the nuke and NOT died from the blast wave.

I've been loving it so far.

This. In a rational world, where your child was just taken then sure, it makes sense to be devoted to finding your lost child. However, with how obvious the plot twist is, and how fucked up the world is, it's very easy to imagine the PC becoming absorbed in basic survival and the slow realization that your child is probably dead, far out of reach, or if you're smart, much older than your and probably with a life of their own with no room for you.

Not to say that searching is somehow irrational, like >>160774309 is, lizard-brained little armchair psychologist that he is. It's just that in my mind, the need for personal safety, shelter, and basic human necessities in a world filled with unimaginable dangers would slowly kill the bravado of "I must find my son!" as you're forced to focus on your immediate needs.

My desire to work through the main quest was almost immediately shot down by the sheer ordeal of moving through the commonwealth without the ability to save or fast travel, wondering at every moment what threat might come along to fuck my day up.

It what's gotten me to finally dive into Settlement with real enthusiasm. The world is so fucking deadly that I'm focusing more on creating safe, livable waypoints to support my travels than the travels themselves.
