Some of my favorite h-games have had bad art anon, there's a reason why we play game rather than read doujins is there not. How I see it there are 3 main factors that make a game, and if the game fails in one but excels in the others it can be pretty enjoyable. You have the art, the scenes (eg fetishes, how they're presented, build up etc) and most importantly the integration of h and game. The game with the worst art that I still considerably enjoyed has got to be RJ178162. It's surprisingly fun, quite a lot of scenes with a good variety and decent corruption, also something like 9 different ends.

Still, the fact that there haven't been any updates for half a year is really weird. It wouldn't be that surprising for a newbie to just give up on his project and move on, but hanataka has released games in the past, not to mention he was updating his blog regularly until a while ago. You'd expect someone like that to at least properly announce that the game is cancelled rather than to just disappear. The theory about him dying is a possibility, but it could also be that he's sick/injured or perhaps arrested.

Personally I'm hoping that the Japs manage to track him down somehow and confirm what's going on, if only to put an end to the uncertainty. In the Western world when someone seemingly vanishes from the Internet people usually manage to find his email address, accounts on other forums, social media presence, chat rooms he frequented, etc. to shed some light on the matter. I don't know if it's like that in Japan but I would assume so. At least the people in the comments seem pretty curious about all this.

I think CGs in these kinds of small budget games are overrated. If I want CG I'll just load up a VN and get much better art than in 99% of H-RPGs with voice acting and sound effects to boot. Sometimes there's even animation. The only reason why you would want to play a H-RPG over a VN is if you want to have some gameplay elements mixed in with the smut and I think that works much better if it happens to the character directly, without transitioning to a CG. A good example would be that fairly recent 2D platformer where a boy is hunting monster girls. You mess up and things instantly start happening and when they're over everything just continues from where it left off. Compare Chrono Trigger to SNES Final Fantasies for a similar situation in normal retro-RPGs.

That said, just like with CGs a lot of the appeal comes down to the quality of the artwork. As much as I like the freedom and all the different things that can happen to you in VH I feel like graphics are a little too crude. It helps if there's other things going on as well, for example if you look at something like NTRPG2 you have sound effects, moans and alternate animation speeds to try and get the most out of the basic sprite animations. If you think you can replicate that I'd say go for it. If all else fails you could also just commission art but most people aren't willing to invest money into this kind of stuff, even though they could probably just earn back that money working overtime for the length of time it would take to do it by themselves.

There was that streaming software people use to avoid injecting Fullscreen++ script into RPG Maker games, you could try one of them.
The closest to a universal solution I can think of is a VM with the game inside being in a fullscreen mode.
Also, 16:10 monitors aren't that bad for 4:3 content. HS for example works much better in 1600x1200 than its native 1080p (on a 1920x1200 screen)

Since RPG Makers have to be extracted for translation anyway, you just open the extracted (presumably translated) game in VX/Ace, insert that Fullscreen++ script somewhere above main and save the project. Next time you start the game, F5/F6 will toggle scaling and fullscreen modes.

The script doesn't interfere with that. There will be a conflict if the game took F5/F6 for its own needs already, but it's a pretty rare occurrence.
Also, you'll need Game.rvproj2 (for Ace) or its alternative for VX to open the extracted game in Ace/VX. Falo's "All Decrypter" (should be in the OP) used to extract RPG Maker games can generate them for you, as do VX\Ace when they create a new project.

He already went missing for a year once when he announced the school setting ntrpg3, so I don't think anything bad happened. He deleted comments from his blog in August, this basically confirmed he was alive and lurking his own blog during that time.

According to hanataka, ntrpg and ntrpg2 took him 2 and 4 months respectively to make. Half of that time in each game was making maps and sprites and the other half was making events. He started working on ntrpg3 in november and by april he only had the prologue done. So he's definitely working at a much slower pace probably cause of real life stuff.

I think he realized that at that rate there is no way he could finish by september so he put updates on hold until the game is mostly complete, so he doesn't rush it like he did with ntrpg2. That's just my theory though.

I didn't make a timeline, but I know I've translated the loli brothel in May, 2014. As a rule of thumb, if the game's release date makes it look like a fossil, there's a chance it was made in RPGM 2000/2003.

I think it's called Dungeon Party.

The animation in it is pretty nice, and the overall style is good.
But I can't figure out how to save.
If i go in to the options menu and leave, the game crashes, and when I try to save in the save menu it just gives the "No" sound.

Also, I tried previously (not with the current one I'm using so it's not the issue's source) to use Enigma on it and it extracted everything but the game in the new default folder wouldn't play.
Am I missing a step or doing it wrong? Seems to happen to half the games I try to unpack.

It's weird though. It doesn't work when packed, only when unpacked.
Seems it couldn't find or make it's own save folder in the packed version or something.

to save you have to manually create a folder named "www" and in that folder you create a save folder.
the dev fucked something upso the game cant make those folders by itself.
