First off, you need to have a discrete GPU for the PC that will emulate the 6th gen systems. I only suggested getting one that isn't completely outpaced by the CPU so you can also have a sensible gaming PC. So your analogy only works if you were already going to get some sort of "deck add on set", some how makes the "performance" of your deck remarkably better and the addition cost of that with the %50 savings comes out to about $100.
Oh, and you'd also have to just be talking to an anonymous poster on an image board, and not a salesperson.
So yeah, still not a remotely similar situation.

I've been using an OG Xbox for emulation purposes.

I'm looking into how to get the best video quality out of the original Xbox, and I see it had component cables. The problem is, my receiver doesn't accept component for 480p/720p/1080i or whatever the Xbox could do.

Any recommendations on how to convert the OG Xbox into HDMI?

My guess is that people want a small and relatively inexpensive box to run emulators on. Facts being what they are though, ARM devices just aren't powerful enough to run reasonably accurate emulators. So the best that can be done for such a device is something like a NUC, Brix or similar PC.

Almost anything you can currently buy will add lag even a framemeister but there's one single device that currently does lagless 480p conponent to 720p/1080p HDMI and that's the OSSC, only problems is it costs 200 bucks.

If you want something cheaper find a lenkeng box that does what you want, shouldn't be higher than 60 bucks but the quality is bad and it will add some lag, anything else in the same price range is worse and anything that's actually good is several times pricier.

I agree, dolphin's gui is functional but it's not really perfect either.

I dislike having to click ~16 times to bind a gamepad, it's idiotic. Even ZSNES does this better than dolphin (all of this becomes irrelevant if you use bt passthrough or whatever).

I also dislike having to exit fullscreen to change settings, and I'm not sure if that has changed but many of those don't apply on the fly.

I think both paradigms have pros and cons. Dolphin is by no means perfect.

RetroArch as flawed as you people make it to be is a game changer once you get used to it and stop fixating on the small problems, and it's been improving steadily. The biggest issue i see with it is the main developer being narrow minded and not focused in fixing stuff before moving to the next target.

Since you have everything in each tab fitting on one screen you can just jumble it up any way you like and people can still see it all with one look. No scrolling down longass lists of options looking for one. It's easy enough to tell whether it'd be under video/audio/saving/etc tabs of course.

The toolbar menu options would just be a bunch of the average quickstuff emus typically have like options to load roms/isos, load states, save states, cheats, FF, etc and one big settings options that leads to that.
