So I decided to scrap littlemaidmob from the last thread and I think my server is gonna have way too many fucking mods.

Please rate. I'm not using FTB or anything because I can't be bothered to fuck around with more than just forge and I remember shit being awful with tekkit. Making sure the server has the appropriate configs is pretty much as simple as building the new one using my client's configs

I'd personally rather be rid of the Chocobos but people want their dumb shitter birds.

It adds giant fucking bugs and UFOs. A lot of the Fencer equipment is broken but the rest works well on multiplayer.

The code seems to be pretty much copypaste from Flansmod Mosbox content pack, too. Probably the same Japanese dude. It's not bad

Also yeah, Boats: Kick ass, tell time. Can't do automated tasks. Thaumcraft and Thaumic Tinkerer add levels of Golemancy/automation so I don't need to worry about it..

Also, it will spam very strong zombies and skeletons wearing mek gear, which is both overly strong, and very much inventory bloat.
Also make sure to disable baby skeletons in mek normal configs.

I'm also running Erebus, Extrautilities adds two, Fossils adds one, warpdrive adds two, Thaumcraft adds one, and Caveworld adds FIVE.

I've not really had performance issues outside of the caveworld one, and even then it's a fucking coding miracle that manages to have compatibility for anything I've ever added.

Flan's mod, use that as a base and add the various content packs, be aware they vary greatly in quality. I think I was using DC's gun pack a while ago because it had iron sights and 3D models. Look for something similar

I've been reading. Mod documentation is awful. It can be anything from halfhearted entries on the FTB wiki down to a single two-year-old screenshot. The worst is "just read the manual item in game :^)"
Mostly I end up playing the game with the mods to find out what they do which I guess is fine?

Mod documentation is awful for tech mods.
Magic mods always have ingame manuals, and besides a few thaumcraft addons made by tards, they're well written and comprehensive, no one really needs info for them.

Most tech mods these days describe what things do in a combination of NEI, and holding shift over said thing.

All tech mods have same root ideas, stemming from a mix of old IC2, buildcraft and redpower 2, and a little bit of equivalent exchange, IE tekkit classic.
If you actually want to learn how tech mods work, play tekkit classic.
Maybe watch some old jewtube vids on it if you're adhd and can only learn shit that way.
Otherwise just have a fiddle.

Joining hoboserb is also an option.

Is there a mod that removes the mercy invulnerability time on DoT effects like poison, wither and fire?

I removed Reliquary and added JustAnotherSpawner and In-game NBTEditor so I can start dicking with things as I please as an admin, including making my own cow-trap for people to be a dick.

I did the same thing to creepers and then went back to survival for fun to see how they'd explode, it didn't even cause as much land damage as I had hoped. I did get launched around the canyon like a pinball before I died, though.

Jeb is officially employed as the designer of all Minecraft versions, and that's currently his main job: as far as I know, every single gameplay-related change in Minecraft goes through him and/or is his idea.

Most of 1.8's rendering changes were done by MogMiner (with help of Dinnerbone and Grum, I suppose). The combat system was changed in 1.9, bringing a few major code changes to the way items and world interaction is handled. 1.9->1.10 and 1.10->1.11 indicate Mojang's move from large cumulative updates to smaller, more frequent ones - which is, in my opinion, positive to the community as a whole compared to the other option.

I hate to be that one person that always comes stumbling into a general screeching for help. But can I get some recommendations for modpacks/individual mods? I haven't played MC in a long time but I want to come back to it and want some content that'll take me more than a couple weeks to burn through, something with a load of depth I can just continue progressing with each time I come back to it. Automation is pretty neat, when people have huge things built that take something from the raw materials and take them all the way to some complex endpoint. Progressing to complex magical aspects sounds good too (although the last time I messed around with modpacks I ended up burning myself out with some dimensions mod or something, wandering through random worlds to find pages to make better random worlds or something. killed my desire to play it, but that was my own fault, so I'm not holding that against mods).

I've used Reika's mods before while hosting a server and it was a pretty miserable experience. Legacycraft wasn't worth the amount of lag the Dragon API added to the system,. Removing it made the tick time drop from 14 average to 7 with 3 people on, and the rubberbanding stopped all over. To make sure I got rid of it, I purged the configs and any other files as well, choosing to do a full rebuilds.

Any time I add a mod like that, I redo the worldgen, and the world was running a week. The build after lasted three weeks until someone found an exploit which let them cross 6000 metres almost instantaneously with physics and exploded the server. MCedit looked sorta hilarious after that one.

He's right that a big portion of the new and active mods are on 1.10, but 1.10 is still fucked with memory issues, and there are many mods that didn't move yet.
1.10 will only be worth playing once it's unfucked and all the mods are updated, which won't happen before people start moving to 1.11 or whatever, at which point they'll just forget 1.10, just like they did with 1.8 and 1.9.

Hermit is a good starter tbqh, I think I'd add a Biome mod, and some expansion mods (More Bees, etc.) and some exploration mods. Probably HC Ender Exp to make the end-game come later. For smelting, it's best to choose the Alloy Smelter since as a furnace it can smelt up to three stacks of material.

I disagree. The mill has no such requirement, and will run just fine without either, being equivalent to the Pulverizer without them. (Except when crushing Iron Ore, which gives both Tin and Nickel as byproducts in the mill, where the Pulverizer only gives you Nickel.)

The SAG Mill with just Flint will multiply your ores by 2.5 compared to the Pulverizer's 2. With Dark Steel, it goes up to 3. Byproducts, like the 10% gold when crushing copper ore, are increased even more. Flint isn't even hard to come by, since the SAG Mill itself will crush smooth stone into gravel and gravel into flint.

I saw a recipe that looked like it used the Scanner to upgrade my Nanojetpack to a Quantumjetpack, but all it gave me was a data stick with a recipe on it. I printed out the recipe into a book which is telling me I need to make another nanojetpack, plus all kinds of iridium and tungstensteel junk, and put each different item into the correct slot of the assembly line.

Travel anchors don't need to be aligned vertically. You're probably confusing them with Openblocks elevators.

Yep. You can teleport to another anchor in any direction just by looking at it and jumping. If you do align them vertically, that makes them act like elevators too!

And if you're carrying a staff of traveling, you can teleport to any anchor without having to stand on one.

What voltages are you using on your blast furnaces ? The difference of stepping up the voltage tier is enormous

For example smelting a steel ingot from iron at MV (128EU/t) voltage takes 25s and if you do that at HV (512EU/t) it takes 12.5s, EV takes 6.25s and so on.

I don't really think you need more blast furnaces, you just need to upgrade the voltage tier

Sure, but then it takes twice the power to do the same amount of work. If I upgraded them to HV, I'd need to build more generators.
