Not really, I play mine a lot and the majority of my damage usually comes from raw shell damage in a mix of HE and AP, with fires just making up a minority, unless I get really good RNG.
Not sure how useful it actually will end up being but I'll probably try it out.

Belfast is like Flint, but with the tools to 100% cancel out DDs. I can't tell if they were trying to provide a paid alternative to people who don't want to rank out 3 times, or just shortsighted. It suffers in losing torps, but you can play around that and most are too dumb to charge your smoke anyway. The AA difference is meaningless in this meta. After 50+ games in it, its greatest weakness is that it decelerates and reverses slowly. It doesn't get the special Brit AP either, but the krupp values are absurd and it can easily do 5k+ per salvo on broadsiding battleships at under 10km. It was advertised as a DD killer, but it can absolutely melt BBs too. It's frail, but just don't expose your broadside or go visible unless you're smoking up/have cover/don't feel like you'll get shot back at. Played right, it can lock down a flank almost singlehandedly. Smoke near island cover and about 10km away from enemies and nothing can touch you. And don't go hunting after DDs unless they come too close or are un-escorted.

Bottom line is, I don't consider myself a cruiser player. I have zero interest in playing the RN CL line. Belfast is one of the most fun ships I've played. If you have any experience enjoying the sneaky smokey firesetting playstyle of gunbote DDs, get it. If I had to give it a motto, it's "never a fair fight". Stick to that and it's free wins. It would not surprise me if it never goes on sale again.

You must accept in your heart that independence is shit unless AS and that Ryujo is better. Ranger USN is when it starts to get better. Always use Strike, dont bother AS. Fighters cant sink DDs hounding you. Also always manual drop unless its your "final wishes" (your last attack move before you die). Start with Dive Bomberss first before going Toro Bombers, DBs damages AA emplacements meaning the torp bombers are less likely to die faster.

Always conserve and be patient when you are in the low tiers (bombing against tier 7 and 8). Have a good sense of "bomber conservation" when against a high tier game. Always go for DDs first and be wary of defending cruisers or fighters that can annihilate your bombers. I call it your "opening salvo", which is torp bombers going for that one shot kill on DDs, first blood almost always guarantee a win unless your team is potatoes (sucks). Learn to use your fighters as decoy or to kill other fighters. Learn to gauge your fellow CV (dual cv/cancer) matches, if they are shit, you might be fucked. also tier 6 and 7 is when most carrier snipes occur (when they send yheir bombers across the map to kill you) so ask for cruiser escort or have fighters ready to strafe. learn to space out attacks (space out means damage to inflict fire/flooding and then sending your 2nd wave of bombers to fire or flood them again). Learn to get your bombers out as soon as you see them use their AA consumables (CAs or sometimes DDs on higher tiers). Avoid good AA, BBs. Like the North Carolina. Always keep your CV moving with the fleet. Learn to use waypoint, unless you get beached easily. Also learn how to strafe good. I once strafed 17 lexington bombers with 1 shokaku fighter squadron. Lastly, learn to bomb under smoke, sometimes noob DDs think they are invincible under smoke. if you can connect dots, you can guess their ship position by connecting fore and aft gun shots and then see if they are moving forwards or reverse.

How can you be okay with that? You realize there is nothing a DD can do against a 3 way cross drop from a hak yes? I suppose he could stay with the fleet but then that means he just let enemy DD take all 3 caps. Not to mention there is no consequence to sending high tier planes into heavy AA considering they can tank it long enough to drop ordinance. It doesnt matter if you end up losing the entire squadron when you have a hundred or more planes ready to sortie.

A good DD can dance from torps, use smoke etc. Also,your st the mercy of your teams fighters. if u get 1 shot by a tb, its u cant dance or he can torp. the worst is when u get killed by 3 7-plane dive bombers. regarding unlikited sorties, its not unlimited, if u risk too many planes and lose a lot early, you will be a cruise ship towards the end of the battle especially when BBs have weakened AA.

Most comfortable cruiser I've ever seen. AP is fun, and makes you Not Fire Cancer. Torps are anemic, but it's fun firing off one at a BB just to keep them honest, then waiting to pickle off the other two.

The guns though, and ability to actually fight front-line thanks to Smoke... amazing. Ripped 30k off an Amagi the other day from these accurate little buggers.

American Cruisers literally do nothing better, except that questionable AA advantage. They would all benefit from gaining Smoke as a substitute for AA.

You move faster and get more hangar space so squad losses hurt less but you will encounter more people who will take evasive action against your planes or be speced for AA
