It's supposed to establish lane dominance and draw lots of pressure, especially from the jungle, to relieve pressure from the team elsewhere on the map. It's probably less effective in low elo because people tend to wander aimlessly or congregate to the person who gets ganked way too late instead of taking advantage of a free map. Ie, if the jungle keeps going top to deal with a pushed Nasus, his southside jungle and dragon should be cleared every time, bot/mid should be ganked and pushed, etc, but most people in gold and lower are too retarded to do that.

What? All of these are extremely simple. Learning 3^3 spell combinations and being able to execute the combos between them, as well as knowing which situation calls for which spell in combat is much harder than all the things you listed combined.

Riot has taken a stance against mechanics such as the ones listed because their effects aren't immediately apparent and yet continues to produce them.

Something like Morg Q or Kat Q or Cass W doesn't need you to read up on how it works. They're abilities that look like they do damage and then they do damage. They don't have any special gimmicks that the game doesn't make clear when you get hit by them, and arguably more importantly they don't have any special gimmicks that would make you interact with them in a way you wouldn't normally think to.

If a person who has never played League before sees Kindred, most of their abilities are pretty self explanatory. But what about when that person fights Kindred until they're both low health and then Kindred ults. Kindred just placed a big flashy ult on the ground and both of you are low health, normally someone seeing that would be thinking "I should run away because this is dangerous" when it is in fact the exact opposite.
That's burden of knowledge.

Nobody (at least nobody I've heard) is on Riot's side about this. Everyone who's played the game knows what Kindred's ult does. But that's their stance and that's the point that was being made initially.

He can do ten things, and those ten things should be self explanatory in and of themselves. Knowing all ten of his combinations may be advantageous, but it isn't inherently required for interacting with him. You see a meteor? You try and not get hit by the meteor. You see his character model surge with particles? You know he's temporarily empowered. You see a big AoE tornado? Don't get hit by the AoE tornado. Understanding his combinations makes his attacks slightly more telegraphed, but it isn't a requirement for interacting with his abilities, because each individual ability is one self explanatory and two has enough build up that seeing which reagents he has up isn't necessary to play against him, the majority of them are just big AoE fuck off attacks. Especially late game where he can shit multiple abilities out back to back and he doesn't telegraph his next ult via his reagents at you.

Personally I think the idea of drawing a line on burden of knowledge at all in a competitive game is fucking stupid. People who play the game are expected to know in order to be able to play it. Just make sure explanations for things that might be unclear are available (they are as every ability is described and demonstrated on a champ's profile in client) and there's no problem.
Every piece of information is burden of knowledge in a competitive game because ideally you're expected to know literally everything to play to your best ability.

Not being able to see your opponent's ability levels is particularly silly when you consider that you can tell how most abilities are being leveled just by watching you opponent use them. Seeing what skills people take at level 2 could potentially make some lanes obnoxious though
