they're about consistently keeping up atonement on necessary targets to heal through atonement
they're more proactive healers than reactive since they can't really spot heal because of shadow mend's debuff

there's less than 10% chance to get the actual buffs you need to do good damage, no, to make the spec functional.

at the start of the fight they're pretty lenient with rolls, you basically get 3 or 4 for free. but if you don't get them you gotta blow your cooldowns (the cooldowns you have to use with your two good buffs to get to the next step, so basically you've already fucked up)

so now you blew your cooldowns to get the two buffs but now you can't do anything with those buffs because they rely on the cooldowns. so you're 20 million damage down by now and you have nothing left to give except a basic as fuck rotation

but what happens when you get the good buffs, or god forbid the less than 1% chance to get all 6? well you blow your cooldowns for 42 seconds and start again. congratulations you kept up dps with an equal geared unholy dk
