Even though I greatly dislike PvP I am liking the BE arena so far. Being an indirect PVP makes it so battles are winnable even if you don't have the best (aka most whaled) team, but has the right strategy.

Ironically, characters that make it easy for you to cheese also make it easier for other dudes to win against your team. BC is frail as fuck, CoD is a zombie, etc. Now I know why Exdeath the king of the arena, he literally has no flaws there.

I also play JP, so from my experience it goes like this:

Avoid high end level ranks like the plague, since those are highly likely to be whales who WILL rape your ass. Always aim for the lowest level rank that still wields good points.

Personally, I never settle with something less than 1.00 rating.

Also, stack those fucking event materia asap. They're fucking top tier for future content and arena. I can't even stress how important those are.

Funny enough that in the Arena non-elemental weapons are the way to go since the top tanks(WoL and P.Cecil) have light resistance to almost negate if not outright negate Excalibur damage. So Save the Queen/Romandan Pistol has some use for Whales.

Being able to deal 7,992+ fixed AoE damage per turn is enough to break the game.

All you need is to keep the edgars alive for at most a single turn and you cannot lose. The AI can't kill them with the right setup, and a redundant edgar makes that even more likely.

Edgar is a bulky 4*, bulkier than many 5*s. With proper investment, you'd need at least three 999s to kill him. That's where minmax comes in, he can easily cross the 2700 HP threshold even with status immune gear.

Couple this with the fact that the AI will not target the same person that many times, and you cannot lose. It's 100% foolproof, especially with a redundant edgar.

Rydia is a commonly recommended unit and she's even squishier than edgar. He has enough HP to hit the critical thresholds needed to tank 4 hits and live, that's as good as most 5*s.

For the purposes of the arena, 2997 HP = 3995 HP. If your unit has less than 3996 after boosts, you may as well not bring them because they're just as frail as edgar. That's your logic here.

It's quantized by the damage cap. Discrete values inbetween these thresholds are less important.

Have fun fighting this all you like, that just makes it even easier for me to stay on top.

So at best, the AI can't outdamage what a cecil curaja can heal. It just fucking can't unless your units have low enough HP pools that they die before he can act.

When facing a team of multiple cecils, it can be almost impossible to take them all down, even with multihit attacks of your own. And that's with coordination on your end, so imagine what it's like when the AI just presses random buttons.

He can cover on the turn you kill him if you continue to attack after he's dead. There will be no damage taken to the unit his corpse defends, and it will get 50% mitigation.

Another neat trick with cecil is you can draw his attacks away with one unit and penetrate his defenses with another. So while he's defending someone else, you could clobber refia.

EVERY unit has their own caps on what you can enhance up to at each rarity.

So while Lightning can raise her attack by 30, Chizuru can go up 34. And someone like exdeath can only add 26 ATK. The average is 30, but it can be higher or lower.
