Forest could have gotten ZERO (0) cards this expansion, and it would still have been tier 1. The broken deck core of Fairy Circle, May, Guidance, Roach, Ancient Elf, and synergy with Altered Fate, will forever ensure a cancer tier 1 deck. Even if they fucking GUT Altered Fate, it would still be tier on the back of Roach alone, they'd just play Silver Bolt as a win con instead.

Control doesn't run Sages, Otohime sees play in a lot of lists. 1 drops and Sage are the main difference between the 2. If you run 1 drops and Sages, even if you have an Olivia finisher or an Alex tech, you're still midrange.

Drain works when defending, Vengeance at 14. Vengeance at 14 alone would be enough, but Blood has the worst core set of any class. Literally 75% of the class' cards are unplayable trash, so they need an expansion of nothing, but phasing out the trash like cobra/butcher/veng devil etc... with actual play versions like they did with Aria and Haven, but not to the same level of power creep.

the fact that you're using a budget list might hurt your consistency against Elana because your key cards are your removal officers that normally Avant Blader can pull reliably (Tsubaki and Ruthless Assassin). A lot of the times I can even play Avant Blader on 8 with complete confidence that I will draw Ruthless to kill their Lucifer for example.

if you want a list of important cards against them, in order of importance:

Ruthless Assassin
Tsubaki
Olivia
Alexander

Otohime is sorta okay against them as well, but she won't make or break your game. She's just a nice way to counter their themis is all.

If you find yourself struggling still, sub 1 Olivia with 1 Leonidas. Leonidas completely and utterly crushes any other slow deck in the game, he's the hardest win condition possible. But in the current meta, that basically means he's only good against Elana Haven and other Control Swords, so I don't really like him.

alright, well this is just my opinion but for cheap changes:

-1 Angelic Barrage

-1 Novice Trooper
-1 Wind God
-1 Execution

+1 Whole-Souled Swing
+1 Unica
+2 Navy Lieutenant

I can see humpty being a weird replacement for Alexander but he's only really decent against aggressive decks, so I wouldn't run 2 especially if you're trying to be stronger against Elana

Angelic Barrage is bad for Control Sword imo. You already beat midrange forest, and it doesn't help your near autoloss against ptp. You really don't want to draw this shit in other matchups either for the most part like storm haven or god forbid elana.

Novice trooper is okay but I think 3 is overdoing it since you use it for board control a lot of the times, whole souled swing is just better in that case.

Wind god doesn't fit in the deck and is a weak body, ditch it. I'd even rather run sage (but don't run sage)

I prefer Ruthless Assassin over Execute by far because it can be tutored out by Avant Blader and 3 Ruthless makes it more likely for Avant to pull it vs some other officer, especially since you have more officers by having Novice Troopers, but that's just my preference, you can keep 2x Execution if you like blowing up Elana amulets.

I added 2x Navy Lieutenant for a couple of reasons. First, being that he's not an officer, so he doesn't make your pulls inconsistent from Avant Blader. Second, you lack Frontguards, which are probably the most stalwart wards in your deck, so he can sorta replace that. Third, he's another activator (and a cheap one) for Ruthless Assassin so that's always a good thing.

If you are willing to craft Leonidas, I think it would improve the Elana matchup by a lot and you would probably swap Gabriel out for it. I honestly suggest you do that, to be honest, since 1x Olivia is really inconsistent. I would also swap Lucifer for a 3rd Alwida eventually as well. When you get Frontguards, you can swap Navy Lieutenants out for them.

The first season suffers in the accuracy department due to the fact the anime actually came first.

So they were literally just writing bullshit when cards were involved because there wasn't any actual card game they had to follow the rules of. So you get stuff like I catapult my flying dragon warrior into your floating castle's floatation ring thereby crushing all your monsters trapped by swords of binding light.

Then the anime actually became popular and making an actual card game became a good idea.
