Hey guys, finally finished with my first piece of drawfaggotry for /utg/!
I'd really appreciate critique from just about anybody. Yeah, I know it's shit, but WHY is it shit?
Shouldn't have taken three days, but I did zilch yesterday so all in all it took me four hours. I know that's criminally long for something as simple as this, but I AM an amateur
The only references I used were sprites from the game, if anyone's curious.
And before anybody asks, I don't ship Sansgore. He's just embarrassed about how much space he takes up when he's sitting at the bar and Sans gives no shits, as usual

I think you're off to a good start. You have a good grasp of anatomy and proportions.
Some things are a little awkward, like Alphys' head and tail or Asgore's hand, but it's understandable and honestly still not that bad.

But Undyne doesn't attack you for personal glory, she wants to give the soul to Asgore for the sake of monster freedom, something he personally trained her to do, and during repeat runs it's pretty clear that she's basically forcing herself to be hyped up about fighting the human because it's her job and duty.

If anything, her intentions are more pure than Asgore's, which can easily be interpreted as him lying to his people about his war of genocide thus making those deaths meaningless and only a matter of his own selfish inability to tell his people that he was wrong.

I got lazy with Alphys towards the end, despite her being my favorite. I realized I could flip her head around and make it look a lot better, but I press down way too hard when I draw in pencil so it'd show through, and I figured it wasn't worth the effort. My anatomy is really shit most of the time, so that means a lot to me. I'll keep practicing!

This is a pretty clearly wrong interpretations of his actions. You can stretch it that far yeah but its clear that he had more positive intentions then just trying to cover his own ass

I think Undyne should be higher on the good scale and I have no idea why he put her so low. I also don't think Papyrus should be lawful and I think Sans should be more neutral. I'd probably bump Asgore down a scale as well

Asgore's lying motivated the people to stay strong and healthy. Given how bad monsters have it with this i'd say the situation underground would be much worse had he not lied. Try not to press down with the pencil too much, unless you're basically done. You have the dark lines around the important characters and that's good, but save that part for the end, that way you can easily change things when you're still working on the picture.

Well, Asgore did kind of shove himself into a hell of a corner with his declaration of war thing.

On one hand, he had his people's best interest in mind, sure. But, on the other hand, he sat on his ass, hoping that no humans would ever fall for him to kill, so he would never, ever have to actually fulfill that promise. essentially keeping the monsters trapped in the Underground. If his purpose was to break the barrier, he could've done so ages ago, yet he didn't, so the end result is just him stalling for time with children's blood for god knows how long.

The guy essentially wanted to have his cake and eat it, too. Or have his kiddo and vore it, too.

That's not entirely true: in genocide Gerson mentions how he and Asgore talked and that Asgore didn't want to break the barrier out of fear that humans would just kill all monsters instead of sealing them again. Of course he assumes that Humans wont accept peace with monsters but given the reason they went to war originally its actually a pretty good line of thinking.

See this is where I have an issue with this because very thing else you said is pretty spot on. Yeah he stalled on the breaking of the barrier but he was very much out and about everyday talking to his people and trying his very best to keep sprites up and he did try and find other ways of breaking it. He was just too dumb to find a way to have hope and also call off the war.

I'm not saying your wrong because you aren't but I think it ignores some interesting parts of the character when you just act as if he literally did nothing but cower in his castle everyday and that his stuff had no actual effect for his people when the game tells you over and over that he wasn't doing that and that that wasn't the case.

Anyways I don't want to start some huge debate so i'm just going to shut up here because I suck at explaining what i'm trying to say and i'll just make a mess of it like last time

Well, consider that Undyne's lived in a society, led and controlled by Asgore, that has based itself on the idea that the humans are irredeemable, and have to be annihilated to the last man, woman and child. Because of the agenda pumped into her brain every day of her life, she's basically got a slightly skewed sense of right and wrong.

But you can't exactly say that her heart's not in the right place, can you? She loves her fellow monsters, probably more than Asgore ever did. That's what pushes her to fight you, and in the end, she realizes that she doesn't want to fight a child that won't fight back, and stops. Asgore still has to be beaten down to be stopped, and refuses to accept any outcome other than one where either he or the entire human race is dead until every monster comes up to him and tells him to stop.

Also, if Asgore feeling guilt for his actions makes him "good," then what about Alphys, who was completely paralyzed and ruined by guilt of the things she had done, and in several endings punishes herself for them?

That's a fair point. However as far as i'm aware literally no other monster besides Asgore shares this intense viewpoint. And Asgore doesn't even have it himself anymore

I recall a few monsters (like the one in grillby's) saying that undyne is a rude, loud, violent, bully. Also she only stops fighting you if you run into hotland not because you refused to fight her. I'd argue that Asgore "has to be beaten down to be stopped" because he feels that, after all the horrible things he's done, he doesn't deserve your mercy. This is further backed up by him literally killing himself to let you leave if you chose mercy and flowey is dead.

Undyne should be placed in good because literally all she wanted to do was help her people. Giving Asgore points for that and not Undyne is super weird imo. I do see where your coming from but I just don't think she belongs anywhere but good and I don't think she should be considered a less moral person than Asgore.

Alphys has both selfish and good reasons for what she did. The stuff you said isn't wrong, but she herself also says she is hiding the amalgamates because she thinks people will get hurt by seeing them. The situation in Hotland is underhanded, but it's also a method by which both you and Asgore could survive, and she pays pretty careful attention to not letting you actually get killed (like turning off the lasers if you get hurt too much, or ad hocing stuff with Mettaton if you fail the games). The alternative was either trying to kill you herself or letting you go fight Asgore, where one of you would die.

I don't think she's necessarily good, but she's not evil. She uses underhanded methods, but she cares a lot about not letting anyone get hurt.

Hello, reposting the next chapter of "Chara is a Drunken Bitch" from a couple days ago.

In this chapter, Sans does his stand up act at Grillby's. He jokes about being attracted to offensive caricatures of his people (skeletons) during Halloween, about visiting a human hospital for the first time and being shocked at all the x-rays hanging up everywhere, and mistaking a very serious human documentary for softcore skeleton porn, and getting caught jerking off by his girlfriend.

Meanwhile, Chara gets drunk, various minority members of the audience react to Sans's offensive humor, and Sans's girlfriend complements Frisk's skeletal structure.

Later, shots, karaoke, and wasted Undyne.

I meant during the date. Remember, at the end, she tries to fight you again, but eventually drops her weapon because she realizes that it's not right.

>It's not Alphys actions that made me put her as impure but rather her response to her own mistakes. She lied to everyone about their families simply so she wouldn't need to face the consequences. She also lies to the player and puts us in danger for her own little fantasy. (Mettaton's speech prior to the EX fight)

She lies to Frisk, yes, but never puts them in danger, until Mettaton takes over and tries to kill them for their soul.

Her plan wasn't just to make herself feel better, but to make Frisk like her enough to want to stay in the Underground. Mettaton says as much. If Frisk stays in the Underground, they won't confront Asgore, and nobody is going to have to die. However, because Alphys thinks that she's a failure, she doesn't think she has the charisma to pull that off: This is why she employs Mettaton and puts on this whole show where she'll get to be the big hero, who the human will then like and will totally want to hang out with.

You can also compare the reason she went into radio silence about the Amalgamates to the reason why Asgore doesn't just take the souls he has to go out and get the seventh one himself: She thinks that a "lie where everyone is happy" is better than a truth where nobody is. But then, she realizes the error of this, and personally goes out to try and fix things. Compare to Asgore, who kinda doesn't do anything.

So you have to go out of your way to kill innocents in order to trigger the stuff that shows she sucks. As i mentioned in >>159571502 Asgore's main reason was because of fear about another war raging and all monsters being destroyed. In real life most people tend to prefer the truth over nice sounding lies. The reason Asgore couldn't tell the people about this is because they'd give up hope and all turn into depressed suicidal people. Alphys doesn't have this excuse. She just hides the amalgamtes from the families because of fear of being criticized over her mistake. Overall all of her reasons fall back down to her. Where Asgore's reasons fall down to the well being of his people.

Alphys. I like her because I found her cute and interesting. I found the awkward nerd thing endearing. I like that she's compassionate and cares about people around her, but also makes lots of mistakes and selfish decisions due to misconceptions. I liked that she went to confront her problems herself after being reaffirmed by her friends, and that she didn't make any excuses about what she did when trying to make things right. She felt very realistic and well written, even if the very end of her character arc is not done very well.
