Hey all. Back with some exciting news. Received an email this morning from my source and apparently we'll get reveals on Gekkan by next month. I expect same leaks will be posted on 2ch sometime soon so I thought I'd share here as well. Next month we'll have the start of monthly reveals for the Deviant versions of the last 3 of the Fated Four. Mizutsune Deviant will be revealed December, Gammoth on January and Astalos on February. I heard playtesting's done with them so they're all set. BTW, no other new Deviants in the game except these 3 and Diablos.

>深海 タマミツネ (Deep Sea Mizutsune) - Mizutsune who adapted to living in the seas. Key difference is a new reliance on water beams although it moves as gracefully as ever. Bubbles it releases will also now inflict Waterblight alongside the Bubbles status!

>マウンテン神 ガムート (Mountain God Gammoth) - Gammoth with larger tusks and tougher plating on the forehead and feet. These Gammoth have adapted to living in the desert when food becomes scarce in their snowy mountains. It is described as much more aggressive and it will occasionally inflict Stench alongside Mud/Snow depending whether it's fought in the mountains or in the desert.

>ドラゴンスレイヤー ライゼクス (Dragon Slayer Astalos) - A much more intimidating version of Astalos that releases dragon energy alongside its signature thunder. This new energy strengthens/hardens fully charged parts effectively allowing the creature to become more of an apex predator.

Mm, that's a decent list as far as I'm concerned. Though if it's only Ala as the final boss, that's a bit sad, since that was an exciting reveal in X. Yama doesn't really fit that spot, unless they really overhaul him. It would be sick if that was the case. But as it is, IMO, he fits in like right before Amatsu on the endgame scale.

The meat eating is pretty worthless but having critical draw, focus, and HGE on one full set and not a clownsuit is nice for people that are willing to sacrifice a little strength for a consistent look. If Yama gets a Chameleos/Lavasioth tier rework, it could be a worthwhile final boss. Its previous problem was that it was too static with too many dead zones: allow its tentacles to all be able to act autonomously when not doing a big attack and you could have a monster that is as prepared against a single hunter as it is against a full group.

It wasn't supposed to, but it was anyway. Its attacks were extremely telegraphed and simplistic, it was a gigantic stationary target, it was very easy to stagger and almost none of its attacks were threatening. It had a lot of quirks, I personally loved the helicopter attack that gave you just enough time to sheathe slow weapons like HBG and crouch, but it was far too easy all around.

In its chest (heart?) is a literal naturally(?) occurring reactor, like Dire Miralis and Gogmazios. You can see it revving it up in the trailer before expelling the heat through its wings's fingers. The fingers are fully articulate, so it can point them in any direction including forward, and independently from each other. This gives it great maneuverability. Its very smooth profile, with all scales pointing to its tail, are to make it as aerodynamic as possible to let it cruise at the speeds its rocket wings allow it.

If you're hoping for an origin explanation you're deluded. They never do that for any Elder Dragons, and they don't really need them.

Unfortunately, I'm not the same person but I'm also backing up that MH5 will be in PS4. Actually as far as I know, everyone "in the know" which are people in Capcom and some developers are already aware of this but they're keeping it mum for a grand reveal. They're going to be advertising it as "MonHun comes back home". It won't be shown anytime soon though as Capcom is finetuning and adding finishing touches to XX. Work on it is starting though and details about it is non-existent at the moment.

MHXX will not be on Switch. It'll be the last MonHun 3DS game though. That is true, though it's probably more about why the weapon came into inception and became widely adopted. There are still some phenomena like LS spirit/aura and DB (Arch)Demon mode which don't really have as much of an explanation either and yet are bound to a single weapon type, by comparison the phials (and maybe the SnS blade oils) are simply a more science-y approach perhaps scavenged from information the lost civilization left behind that the Guild rediscovers or something. Is it all Nickelodeon science? Maybe, but seeing the tech level in the setting is enough for the Caravaneer's boat to become a flying vessel and that you're told to hunt a Stygian Zinogre to help work on the Demolisher cannon to fuck up Rusted Kushy's day I'm not going to get too worked up on phials and shield charging.

And then MHGen gives hunters a ton of magic power out of fucking nowhere in both arts and styles. At the very least the two of us can agree that MHGen is potentially putting the main games in a questionable direction.

That's wrong though. Both FU and 4U (and 3U) had high rank story content for village, but at 10* featured some G-Rank quests that were unrelated to the main plot. This is much the same as Dos, 4 and Tri (and Gen) had only low rank village, but at 6* they had some High-Rank quests that weren't related to the main plot.

No, he's talking out of his ass. If you take jap TAs as a standard, the only weapons that are consistently high-tiered are GS, SA, Striker Lance and HBG, and the only that are consistently low-tiered are HH and GL. All other weapons are situational, with them being either very good or very bad depending on the match-up. But the performance gap between weapons is closer in Gens, only Striker Lance is broken because of how easy it is to use, compared to how powerful it is.

Guild is shit, Striker is just a better guildstyle without the long third stab. Adept is good with a high mv counter after the perfect block, but also a third triple stab, no one uses aerial but it is interesting and niche.

I'm glad evade lancing is rendered irrelevant now, actually. One, it seemed stupid to me that you have this big heavy weapon that's the pinnacle of defense, and you're using it to hop around. Two, more emphasis on the power of guard lancing has made the lance become an S or A tier weapon, meaning more people'll finally use it.
