So I installed RxTools on a 3ds last year, played some games, life happened and I havent touched the thing since like february. I quickly went through the last thread and from what I understand RxT is an outdated piece of garbage and I should use a9lh.

Thing is, I do want to keep the saves and dont really want to fuck up (please keep in mind I am a literal retard). And yes, I know this https://plailect.github.io/Guide/ says that I keep the saves and that's great, I just have a few questions before I embark on this journey

I know its literally a guide for installing over an existing cfw, but right off the bat it's asking me to boot decrypt9 from a browser link. Since I used Gateway for RxTools, should I use one of the other links provided or is the Gateway one fine?

Do I need to remove the rxtools files or can I just leave them for now? For instance, both decrypt9 and rxtools had a launcher.dat, I feel this is obvious but should I just replace the old with the new?

Is this region free or will I still have to use NTR to bypass that?

I met a guy like you when I was doing PSP modding and homebrew. I traded him teaching him to program for one of the wii's he didn't care for that was a little heavily worn.

I still use it to play old Nintendo stuff. It's nice, every other weekend I break it out and play OoT or Mario Kart 64 with the kids.

He was interested in learning C++ which seemed to make sense, but as we got started he was super busy with life issues and the choice was between having to almost never get a lesson in (skype was his preferred platform) or switch to a derp-easy language, and then once he was making basic programs and understood the concept of programming itself, teach him C++.

So it took about 3-4 days to get him the basics of programming so he could do it himself from there, but he was a nice guy, hurt and not many people really helped him out so I stuck around for about 6 months. After he could make programs in Java (like I said, he could have jumped off on his own with a book after 3-4 days) I took a week to teach him more core programming concepts so he wouldn't be lost when we got into C++ and pointers, templates, etc.

What was cool was about a month later he could make pretty competently his own little mods with C++, and we became pretty good buds. He'd pop on and tell me what was going on, ask about my wife/kids, and I'd give him a challenge or two (continuation of teaching him, just instead of direct lessons then it was "make this using this concept") and I'd stick around incase he had questions but usually he'd slam it out.

He was one of those forever here kind of guys too, and was a bit stuck in life but I think just having a dude pal, plus I'm forever stuck in the "big brother" to everyone role because of my personal issues, helped him get a grip.

Now he's working for a the public sector as a programmer making a salary, doing indie game dev on the side.

Altogether I ended up teaching him: Java, C++, C, C# (which was more just pointing him to a reference book and explaining why they made certain things different), and more recently ASP.NET which is what got him the job.

Music is kind of in the middle. Many people rip and share MP3s without thinking twice, but some still see it as "wrong" or whatever moral fags delude themselves into thinking. Yet there's an increasing number of popular artists who stick the middle finger to music labels and publish their own works for free. Because ultimately, musicians create music because they want their shit heard.

As technology progresses, it's only a matter of time until games and videos reach this point. People just have this fallacy of thinking that the larger a file is, the more valuable it is, therefore it's more "wrong" to pirate larger items such as movies and games, while not giving a shit about copying text or artwork.

Games and saves stay on your card, only Henkaku needs to be reinstalled whenever you restart the system.
Unless you want to develop CFW for vita, you don't need to care about TaiHENkaku yet.

I never realised how much of a fuck about working with decrypted titlekeys was, already have them encrypted and fed into cdn-fx but the .cia it's shat out for ice station is not only 44MB in size but the job was apparently 2 parts, one of which failed, it won't tell me which.
Nice and verbose error messages there then, useful.
I'm sure the games not worth it anyway but this was an experiment.
