The only thing PLD has going for it is mitigation, and even THAT is screwy because any boss that uses magic attacks gets to ignore a lot of PLD's defenses.

Further, even if PLD's mitigation was improved so bosses with attacks that can't be blocked or parried didn't fuck them, they'd STILL be shit on because they deal no damage. You don't NEED a great tank to clear content, you only need a tank that can survive long enough for the healers to do their job.

And since healing is so fucking easy, the only real danger is that the healers might take a moment too long to switch out of their DPS stance.

There's a serious balance issue in the world of tanks and healing right now, but just 'fixing PLD' isn't really addressing the issue. The issue is that the classes that should be the worst at actual tanking (that is to say, the tanks who deal the most damage) are not only outdamaging PLD but also outtanking them as well. Scholars can spend 90% of the fight DPSing and only occasionally chuck out an Indom. Eos does the rest. Astrologians are now better than WHM in every way.

While by taking away all their accuracy SE sent a clear fucking message to healers that they should know their place and just sit in the corner being a curebot, they made raid DPS checks tighter than ever and healing easier than ever.

Round up your pull with Flash, drop CoS once you have them and use tab cycling to hold them. The goal is to use Flash as little as possible, ideally once every 5 or 6 GCDs. Flash does no damage, it's the single worst PvE ability in the game; it's even worse than PvP shit like feint. Using it is like kissing your cat's asshole with tongue, avoid it.

Under no circumstances should you be Flash spamming so much that you actually use Riot Blade to recover MP rather than to put Goring on a boss. You'd have to be the epitome of shit if your PLD AoE rotation is Flash > Flash > Flash > Flash > Riot Blade > repeat.

Why do you think Flash is some kind of lightbulb? Its implied that its holy in nature even before you get Paladin, and holy magic can and should do damage, albeit less than Holy itself. Unlike that guy however, I think Flash should cause damage over time instead of direct damage like Unleash, further compounding the emphasis Paladin has on maintaining DoTs. Its like holy fire damage.

Teach me your secrets. I have picked up and dropped DRK like 5 times during the 50-60 process. I feel like im made of glass even with cooldowns. Their AoE is so clunky with DA and im just playing piano with the ogcds and it all feels so pointless compared to just playing WAR. Is the trick really all focused around huge mobs with DA+AD? Hell, even on bosses I feel like I hold aggro less than the other two tanks by far and have to spend more time in Grit than ever. I just dont fucking get it.

I've had shit experiences with DF PLDs (not the other tanks, just PLDs) losing enmity to me as either BLM, SMN or WHM on another data center on large pulls. If Shroud is still on cooldown, I usually rip half the mobs off of the tank and they only get enmity back because I have to heal myself. On BLM and SMN it's usually just the result of me outgearing them.

I don't mean to seem like I'm disagreeing, but at the same time, you need to be fair. DRK's self-healing is incredible, but Cure II is usually pretty potent (and unnecessary in trash pulls, Divine Sealed Regen is over 2k a tick, Holy mitigates a ton so Regen just does its thing without a care and Asylum is pretty good per tick, too, on the larger pulls)

Tetra is usually the only heal I actually need to use within a pull, and that's enough by itself backed with regen that I can just Cleric again. DRK's self-healing usually means I don't actually need to Tetra, though
