I've found writing to be like eating steak fries. When you get a hot one in your mouth, you roll it around a little before you swallow. I feel this story is dripping with your sweat and saliva.

Going by the body inside Freddy, and how Baby's programmed to open up and pull in kids I think the robots are less for murdering people directly, and more for reanimation. I have a hard time believing that whatever motivation drives William to kill children would be fine with having his robots kill kids instead of himself killing them. And it's also established that Afton Robotics is a reasonable distance away from Circus Baby's Pizzeria, so it's impractical for William to drive to Circus Baby and open up the robots to kill the children directly.

If you consider the possibility that the technicians on Night 5 are hanging from endoskeletons/Ennard, and look at how flexible the tentacle-endoskeletons are, it might be that the flexibility is supposed to constrict people's movements and muffle their shouts to avoid detection. That also aligns with their desire to hide inside you, just like how people have been hidden inside them.

I'm referring to the character design, sorry. I should've been more specific.

We've had multiple games where the character design is based off of a "ruined" robot with the endoskeleton being visible.

SL's a mix of the first game's uncanny valley, and a more amorphous design for the insides. The tentacles have a fairly diverse range of possibilities, especially now that Scott's not afraid to animate his characters a little more. A shift from the Terminators towards "The Thing", where there's something rippling underneath could be pretty cool.
