I dont think I've ever seen this argument being brought up, but I think one of the main shortcomings of the magic system in DaS3 is the like of spices. Like, yes, they served an extremely niche purpose in two, but I feel like Memezaki missed a real opportunity to make them truly shine now that we have catalysts with alternative scalings like Archdeacon's Great Staff, Crystal Chime, Man-Grub Staff etc.

It's smaller weapons like katanas and rapiers that don't work with it. It's caused by the female idle animation which is different from the male idle animation. There's some kind of an animation reset when the female animation starts. The effect is the same if you would walk around during the dupe, changing the animation prevents the dupe from happening. Here you can see both animations, the Flamberge has the male animation and the Iaito has the female animation. If you're two handing you always get the male animation. I tried with different weapons on PS3 but still couldn't make it work.

I don't know man. I never had problems with Abyss watchers. It was pretty easy for me.

Frieda has that execution move with a sound mark that I'm not sure how to properly dodge.
She also uses that shockwave like a crippled prince with a sword that I cannot dodge for some weird reason. It always hits me despite my attempts to roll left / right before that.
I can dodge her combos but it's hard to find a window to attack.
Cinder has deadly combos too but is more predictable, I can say for sure when it's safe to attack him. After his long range jump for instance.

You're completely missing the point with this, Ds1 is overall slower and clunkier, more methodic if you will and the enemies' capabilities reflect that. In Ds2/DS3 you're given this mess of unfinished ideas with some half assed BB influence where the player baseline is tuned to DS1 capabilities but enemies are tuned as if they were meant for bloodborne. As a result they have to make rolling completely fucking broken and estus essentially instant, it's a mess.

It can be ok. It's got some high stat requirements for a build where presumably you'd be trying to shave off as many points in physical stats as possible. Then it also has split damage which can be good can be bad but mostly personal preference

What does that even imply? That bloodborne is much faster? Cause it's not. The R1s of a longsword - your most basic bitch weapon - are actually even a tiny bit faster than untricked Saw Cleaver R1s. The speed of rolls and dashes is actually not that different as well, the main difference is that there are less wakeup frames on BB dashes, so you can get into action a bit faster, but that is by far not enough to make a drastic difference. The shift towards more agressive bosses with more complex and elaborate movesets (and each boss having a separate 2nd stage) is a massive fucking plus compared to DaS1 where the only bosses that move faster than a slug are probably arty and gwyn.
