Modded survival. Personally, I don't use damage adjustment mods or almost any weapon packs (I do have one I custom made for myself, but it only makes a heavy weapons version of the hunting rifle for my HW character).

There's a clinic, a tech lab where my character builds a shitton of robots and other advanced stuff, a little diner, and various houses for my settlers, but I still miss a few things like a proper warehouse to store all my shit, the armory, minuteman's HQ in Sanctuary, a bigger farm, and a nice market district.

Of course I did, and the fact that it comes as a one, single big sort-of-DLC, with no customization options or some sort of "menu" really bugged me down.
For example, my PC is pretty old,every now and then it crashes so it's a pain in the ass to start all over again. Yes, it's "my fault" but having a quicksave ON/OFF toggle would be useful.

What I mean is, playing survival mode makes impossible to follow a "personal path" during the game experience, since I'm forced to:
-not fast travel even if I'm going from Diamond City to Goodneighbor wearing a Power Armor (I mean what the fuck could happen)

-and a lot of other stuff that forces you to experience the game with a lot of limitations, rather than expanding the player's immersion in the Commonwealth.
Other things worked just fine, but all these "limitations" would better suit a game with way less RPG elements, not Fallout 4.

Fast travel is disabled to make farming resources slower and to put emphasis on being prepared for anything instead of having instant access to all your gear. Also it makes connecting settlements more important to share their resources.

While I have this problem as well and it sucks to lose progress for no good reason, quicksaving in survival would change risk management into trial and error with infinite attempts. A consumable item that allows you to quicksave when it's used would be ideal and there's probably mods that give you that.

Needs, weighed ammo and lowered carrying capacity exist for the sake of inventory management, which is now relevant because you can't fast travel. Damage is adjusted to make combat faster and healing speed is reduced to make heal tanking impractical. The disease system is pretty stupid, sleeping in a bed makes me sick more often than anything else.

It's not necessarily immersive, but I prefer to play on survival mainly due to adjustments to combat and inventory. Not quicksaving or fast travelling could be optional challenges for the players who want to play like that and there are mods to customize survival to your liking so it's not a real issue.

I know, because that wasn't the point of my observation.

The point is, since we all know how to play an RPG, and we all know there are some times when you want to smell the gunpowder from your screen and you go full survival and IMMERSHUN kicks in, but some other times maybe you want to toggle console commands and that a screenshot and, well you can't. Or you want to fast travel because there's a storm going on and you're just a few meters away from your home: and you can't.

I enjoy immersion and survival as the next guy, I love playing games like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and Skyrim with tons of mods that basically made everything a danger for my player and his survival in those lands a mere statistical issue.
I loved all the Souls game, but fuck this is Bethesda not FROM Software, and you can't apply a new game mechanic to a pre-existing map: beds are scarce and I can't be bothered to pull out my sleeping bag anytime I need to save.
And why the Commowealth is filled with Behemoths, Deathclaws with 1.5 spawn rate. Aren't these enemies supposed to be very, very strong but also very "rare" too?
Having all these limitations doesn't make the game harder (and since when every game has to be HARD to be a good game?), it makes it less enjoyable.

If you play on survival get Automatron asap, it adds lots of new random encounters that make Commonwealth a lot more dangerous. They're mostly robots so you can simply hack them if you got that perk, though. Wasteland workshop is also fun if you like defending settlements, you can use the cages to make it so they get attacked more often.

This is why I use place anywhere + the scrap all command. Scrap all command first, then if you take issue with something like junk on the floor, press insert and it'll allow you to move/delete the junk that was previously untouchable.
This way you scrap all of the legit stuff safely and go around only scrapping the crap that actually bothers you without fucking up LOD's and shit.

Well, for PC there are a lot of mods, I think some of them are available for XboxOne. I'm saying this because, having played the game vanilla on PS4 and then modding the shit out of it made FO4 a pretty different game.
So, you can "design" your game experience with a few mods, and you'll play the game you want. If you're into exploring and venturing the lands of the Commowealth, I can tell you settlements and all that micromanaging system isn't really the main part of this game, but yes the game sorta forces you to learn about settlers and how to provide food, water, defense etc. to your community.

What are people's hangups with FO3's writing again? I'm replaying it and so far all the things that people bitched about are explained in depth in the actual game (Megaton, BoS white knights, etc.). I'm not saying it's amazing or as interesting as NV, but it's certainly by no means bad.

I wasn't going to port the Avenger.

I was going to take the vanilla minigun, add more barrels to it. That was basically it. Well, and other things added of course, like the textures on the barrel, and more stabilizing rings, paint it Red, etc.

I want to double the firing speed and increase accuracy a little, and give it a tiny damage increase, so it will basically shoot 60 bullets / sec.

I fixxed it guys. Finally, only downside is until I fix the materials the original one will be smooth underneath where it should be ribbed.

Yes and no, when you initially draw the weapon there is an animation for chambering a round using the bolt which is on the right side. The reload however is fine as both weapons have a bolt release in the same spot. Just cut the draw animation.

Some projects can take as little as 30 minutes to an hour
Some projects (That I do anyway) can take as long as 70 hours of work. The Animu hairs, that was pretty damn close to that.

That said, I spend maybe 7 hours a week just doing whatever unless I am working on a big project, in which case it could be as much as 14 or 21 hours. I spent like 28 hours one week trying to finish up the animu hairs within the week.

Oblivion - > Skyrim pose
Then in OS
Load Skyrim - > FO4 Cbbe

It won't be as perfect as manually editing in Blender but it will likely still look close enough, you may have to tweak it a bit in OS. I'm not very good at explaining Blender, you only learn it after lots of practice...

Gun modding is about 1000% easier than rigging from what I have seen. Editing existing guns at least. I might try making some shit sometime down the line.

Here's my 12 barreled minigun I made as a test: I think I'm also going to double the length of the barrel, or make it 1.5 times as long for my AVENGER mod.

Also Super mutants tend to have nastier weapons, Raiders tend to have shit like Pipe crap. Might make sense for some Minutemen to have them because they took the Castle.

This is going to be my vision of the CZ57 Avenger. I might ask EX if he'd mind doing a little texture work on it, but I could try doing some stuff on my own as well. The Avenger's barrels all the way down were covered by rings filled with coolant and it had better barrels, so I want to completely get rid of that overheating effect that shows up basically the second you begin firing.

The coolant and better barrels, aside from overheating, also means it should have better range, accuracy, and firing rate as well. Possibly damage, too. I dunno how much more I should make it weigh. Some people may not like having an 80 pound gun, even if it is highly devastating.

You're either on an old pirated version with Survival before the patch, which was just "harder" than Hard (as in, decreasing player damage and increasing enemy damage), are actually confusing it with information about the old Survival you just pulled from google, or you're just shitposting.

Survival has a 2.0 multiplier for enemies, and a 1.5 multiplier for the player, which can be increased by an additional 50% with the Adrenaline perk - which is calculated after your other damage bonuses from perks (Gun Nut, Commando, etc.) are taken into account.
Hence bullet-sponge enemies are a non-issue on Survival.

No way m8. Contraptions had some of the best shit out of any of the workshop DLC's+Automatron. Namely, the factory pieces and logic gates. The glass walls & roofs which were actually not broken were pretty fucking neato too.
Automatron was okay enough as a quest, but unless you want to make robot provisioners/scrap collectors its shit for any settlement stuff.
Vault Tec DLC was cool in that you could build a vault, which I personally liked. I do think the location of the vault was a little shit though, and the main room space could've definitely been bigger - or building out into the caverns could've been more friendly. Shame about that in that regard.
Wasteland Workshop's ONLY redeeming feature was concrete building pieces and MAYBE the brahmin trap, for producing fertiliser.

I like it. There's already more than enough weapons to burn .308 and .50 ammo, not so much for .45-70. Plus, it's an unique, right? The type of ammo should be enough to make it stand out.

Now comparing the 2 ammo types (5.56 and 45-70), the latter has lower velocity, but carries more energy due to projectile weight, pic related (45-70 on the and 5.56 on the right). Personally if I were to edit the stats, I'd give higher damage to the 45-70 one, but as a trade off probably stronger recoil, or even the projectile speed cut to roughly half, like IRL (or even both), so it isn't just better all-around. If I'm not mistaken I saw a projectile speed value attached to weapon stats in fo4edit.

You get the small (150?) fusion generator and the bigger (500?) fusion generator, IIRC.
So yeah, it depends on what you'd rather. A generator that's huge, but produces a hell of a lot more power and doesn't require a perk to use, or a generator which is much more manageable in size, but reqs 4 in science.

If Fo4 modding is dying, it is due to one reason, and one reason alone.

That being, Bethesda already covered most every major mod from Fallout 3/NV that wasn't either a sex mod, or a quest mod.

Vanilla Fallout 4 had weapon/armor modification/made PA better/had buildable settlements(which also covered my home base mods)

Automatron was basically Robco certified as offical DLC

Wasteland Workshop had shit like tameable animals, and arenas

Contraption was craftable weapons/armor/ammo/clothes/food

Vault-Tec added a buildable vault home base, companion tracking, and lots of stat boost items

Basically, every large feature based mod for Fo3/NV was done ass offical DLC, leaving modders really only left with things like -weapons/armor/special snowflake companion mods
-Moar settlement item mods
-mods that tweak the offical DLC to include stuff they felt they missed

Really, theres not that much of a scope for modding in Fallout 4, because Bethesda did most of the bigger stuff as DLC.

I would say no. It's at a point where it isn't the big top game to mod for popularity so a lot of the skyrim modders went back to se and fallout modders stayed. It was hard as nails on the beginning, almost to the point of dropping this run into oblivion, but somehow I endured it. You know, the works: Afraid of almost everything as a raider giving you a weird look could mean a insta kill, losing hours of game in the process.

After level 30ish it all turned into a chorefest for me.

At the end, I just rushed my run to end it ASAP. It wasnt a good experience because bugthesda took many shit decisions. The save on sleep is awful: many times I was fully hydrated, ated only cooked stuff, were well rested, and after a non-melee fight with humans took a nap to save, BAM, infected, or fatigued or weakened. REEEEEEEEEEE


I tried a minuteman with all factions happy route, but it made painfully obvious how broken the conditions on certian factions quests are.

I put annotations on every single step in big letters. Its not fucking hard or needs me narrating the entire fucking thing.

Anyway, If its a human shape posed in FO4 pose already, load Cbbe body as reference, click "Copy bone weights" to all your mesh parts, and export. Done.

Most of that tutorial assumes you know nothing of how to apply textures and BGSMs, and re-positioning shit in OS itself.

I had this issue with Kos's meshes a LOT. He'll need to load them in OS, and export them again individually as Obj, then load them again...its weird but this makes the meshes work properly for FO4.

Now that I've thought about this for a while I'm pretty sure that is why his mesh won't work.

Make sure the OS and Cbbe reference are 100% the same pose and scale, or close to it at least
Export your Outfit as Obj from OS
Import it again, scale it to 10 or whatever so it matches the body again
Copy bone weights
If it uses the Cbbe skin in the mesh, *export with reference*
