I really wish they didn't turn the IMC into cartoon villains. Would have been better if they ditched the super weapon crap and made either 2 campaigns, one from each side and the story ends with the two pilots and titans killing each other as the war rages on. Or one campaign and you get to pick a side at the beginning. The militia actually being portrayed as terrorists that are willing to bomb civilian targets so long as it damages the IMC military in some way. Then the IMC desperately trying to maintain the peace and protect the civilian populations forcing them into an increasingly draconian living where the colonies get turned into police states because the IMC is being stretched far too thin and is desperately awaiting reinforcements from core worlds.

Both sides with good intentions, the militia fighting for independence with any means necessary and creating a sort of free for all society, and the IMC trying to maintain order and unity and has more socialist/somewhat communist ideals while still allowing individual freedom.

Yes in gamer use. Hitscan means you're shooting laser guns effectively. The next game frame your bullet is at the destination. On the client side this means that when you click you get the hitmarker.

Technically it's just the computer not simulating a projectile using an object that flies but rather drawing a mathematical line throughout the space to see what is hit. It's far cheaper than projectiles overall.
Hitscan generally doesn't allow for projectile drop any path alteration or such things (gravity star would ignore the projectile). But things could be done to emulate projectiles better.

So technically people can be wrong about if something is hitscan or not but really all they mean is:
There's no bullet drop
Bullets travel instantly
Bullets go where you aim them

The problem with this is that in either Bounty Hunt or Attrition aka the two commonly most played modes, attempting to do this is a waste of your time. Tone just leaves to farm creeps for points, leaving you holding your dick. And if you DARE pursue Tone, she walls up and punishes you - and you can try and shield this, sure, but she just keeps leaving, shooting creeps in the meantime.

Wall is honestly why Tone is head and shoulders above the others in strength. Frankly the Titans' offensive kits are all around the same tier in relative usefulness, but the fucking one-way wall is so fucking strong for stonewalling anyone at a range longer than arm's length, which is 90% of fights. It's huge, lasts forever, and is fucking tough as nails, especially if you spec into it as you should. Its only real counterplay, charging through it, is often a lose-lose situation - you burn your active defense while Tone continues backing up, and then you probably overextend into one of Tone's teammates to gangbang you with no defenses up.

I play almost nothing but Tone and I think that wall's cooldown needs to be much longer than it currently is.

I play Overwatch too and Widow's grappling hook is just a straight forward pull: your previous velocity and acceleration vector is reset to just between you and where your grappling is attached.

In TF2, you can go full Spiderman swinging and hook it across multiple angles to pick up velocity in a crazy way. It's just really intuitive if you understand the geometry

I don't know about sustained DPS numbers, but my gripe with the Archer is that you have to expose yourself for a decent duration to get the lock, which is asking for trouble against undistracted Titans actively scanning for targets except in the specific case where you use the Cloak tactical to hide yourself for that time.

Meanwhile with the Charge Rifle you can either instantly poke once (with charge) or use charge hack for two-three quick pokes at slightly different positions before leaving the scene entirely to go farm some more/take a hardpoint, leaving the enemy Titan standing around dumbfounded and confused to waste their time looking for a pilot kill that you refuse to give them. It's not about the damage necessarily - it's about distracting and delaying enemy titans from farming themselves or otherwise pressuring your team.

There's actually a somewhat sane, if not ultimately optimal reason for this.

It's not that the player is necessarily trying to "shake the guy off". What he's doing is scanning his surroundings to see if there's a fast escape avenue, and if there is, to move away from it.

A "counter" to rodeoing that doesn't rely on your teammates paying attention (because let's fucking face it, you can't always count on that) is to simply move out in the open while being rodeoed. Since the rodeoing pilot can't move his camera to see exactly what's happening, the titan pilot will let the rodeoing aggressor successfully pop the battery out and then leave the rodeo-er in the dust with nowhere to run off to or hide. He'll quickly kill him, then reclaim his battery and carry on.

The problem with this is that frankly, the prize isn't getting away with the battery, or even the potential damage on the enemy titan for getting away with the battery. The real prize is the fucking HUGE amount of meter towards your next titanfall/boost activation you get for a successful battery pull, regardless if you instantly die afterwards. Sure in Attrition you might give up 5 points to the enemy for a kamikaze battery pull, but in Hardpoint or Bounty Hunt it's often worth it to go for a rodeo you probably won't get away from if the battery pull will let you pop maphax/titanfall when you respawn.
