My artist has been busy as fuck (there's only two cgs left to be done, though) and I've been banging my head against the wall with voice acting. I also went to a videogame event in my country, and the guy in charge of the creative industries fund basically said that as long as the game doesn't suck, we'll have an spot in the Tokyo Game Show next year (along with other mexican devs).

The upside to the whole delay is that I got a new, better paid job in the meantime, so the game ended up having a rather larger voice acting budget as a result. Right now I'm crunching numbers to see if I can get my dream cast on board.

Decided to play an actual EVN, so I downloaded Lost Girl's [Diary] because it looked less shitty than the other free ones.

It's a bit clunky, but the artist did a nice job on the expressive sprites for these "meet-heads".

Apparently the dating sim section had people lining up to do exactly that. Since the fund pays for everything except for plane tickets, I'd most likely translate the game to japanese by then.

Well, for one, one of the bigger national publishers was supposed to pick the game up - the pitch actually won the first prize at last year's national developers competition. But then neither me nor the guy who won second place heard anything from the publisher... not even a rejection letter. Apparently the organizers of the competition were furious about this, since one of the judges told me that if they came offering to publish me now, I should tell them to go to hell.

The competition itself was kind of unsavory, since most of the comments from other devs were rather patronizing about the fact that it was a visual novel (which I was expecting) and me being one of the few women there (which I wasn't). The judges themselves were far nicer, and their comments were pretty much concerns about how to market the game.

Overall, none of the people are actually rude, but whenever we meet at events and the like the conversation is almost never about the game and more about me "being a WOMAN who's making a GAY game about MONSTERS".

I understand it can't all be business, but for every conversation I have about the process of devving/what we've done since we last met, I have about three about "what's like being a woman in the scene".

I doubt they're at such an age where they'd have to completely give up on a skill. Pretty sure nobody just wakes up one day and can start pumping out endless masterpieces. It would seem to me that they just need to learn how to utilize their time and effort properly.

I'm no writer, but the biggest issue, in my opinion, is it feels like you have an idea in your head that simply doesn't come across properly to the readers. I thought that idea was pretty interesting, but there's nowhere near enough of a reason to care about the characters or anything that happens. Hell, it's hard to want to keep reading just after the first few sentences because of how it feels like it just kind of assumes you know what's going on and why you should care before these time skips. This is especially difficult for a story I imagine is supposed to to be rather emotional.
One could argue that's simply a result of the length, but I felt some very poor pacing and a bit of awkward structure and wording worked against you just as much.

Also, I felt it would have a pretty decent twist if it wasn't announced that Eno was having a relationship with a spirit right off the bat. Make the reader think it's a normal girl. You're certainly far enough removed from the main character to be able bait them into believing that.

If a real writer wants to tell me I'm full of shit, feel free.

I don't know how much you offered but licensing isn't exactly cheap. Also, most SC/bandcamp musicians aren't professional or active. A big problem with picking literal whos is the assumption they can process the information correctly when they have no experience dealing with projects.
