Huh, went 6-2 or something vs shamans with disco zoo, well that was a fast road to rank 5. I think it might be the shaman players at those ranks prematurely aoe-ing and getting outvalued, had 2 games go to a topdeck war when they ran out of cards, mostly just lost to godawful draws.

Had to switch to zoo when I ran into fucking eater of secrets warrior while playing secret face hunter and next to no shamans at all.

I'd cut both animal companion for 1 more secret (snake or snipe if you can't afford it) and either another 1 drop or 2nd horse rider. I experimented with a tiger instead of 2nd unleash because I kept getting 2 unleash dead hands fucking often, wasn't bad.

A lot of idiots think of themselves as gatekeeper to 5, so once reaching 5, the lose purposely to get to rank 4 with max stars and try their best to fuck over anyone who's 1 star away from 5.
Also a lot of people who are already at 5 but aren't interested in reaching legend play their non-tryhard decks so it's somewhat easier on rank 5. It's basically an oasis with tons of shit before and after it.

People like CCGs, and this is the only high-quality digital one available.
Nobody thinks HS is a deep, well-balanced game.
At the end of the day, it's a video game made for quick entertainment value, and only the tournament competitors (and Reynad) take it seriously.
Games like the one you posted (SV) might be better card games, but they're drastically inferior video games.

Oh and there's also playerbase. HS is a popular, socially acceptable multiplayer game that people play and chat about with their friends.

SV is the flavor of the month because of streamers and recent steam release.

As for the others:
ESL is just a quick cash-in that bethesda obviously didn't invest much into.
Faeria and Duelyst went out on a limb with new formats. Good tries, but they just didn't catch on.
Eternal is digital magic #984 and has little to distinguish itself from the previous miserable failures beyond a higher budget and better visual design.

Gwent is interesting but very few people have received beta keys (i didn't either), and even fewer people have spent the $100s necessary to experience much of the content.
It's also not very optimized for spectating.
Nox & others tried streaming it but they ran into both problems.

I went to make a Tempo Mage deck there as I've never played Mage as a class and always thought it was missing from my lineup (I play tournaments from time to time).
Crafted Antonidas and a few rares and epics only to realise I don't have Flamewaker so its all totally pointless.
I'm not spending a bunch of gold/cash for one card that's rotating in a few months anyway. Fuck this.

Meta seems to be a lot more relaxed in wild, but maybe that's just me not being 5+

It really depends, but overall it's easier due to a lot less players so the competition is not as good as in Standard.

But I've had months where I hit legend earlier in Standard than Wild since I start meeting people with unique decks I can't play properly against in Wild.
