When playing medic I exclusively use the Automatic 8 Factory/Remington Model 8 and the Luger because both were very successful firearms on the civilian market prior to WWI (Model 8 moreso in the US than Europe as FN only made around 5000 Model 8s) and pretend to be a normal old civilian fighting with what I have in my home country

I generally do this
90% of the time I just play as a rifleman with an infantry bolt-action and a sidearm that matches the team I'm on as closely as possible (or is something that an individual could feasibly have bought personally). Problem is that there is no US infantry rifle, just the 1903 snipers and the one with the Pederson device.
I've hardly played medic much, I only really use the Winchester when I do though for the reason that it's something that was actually produced and used. Will get the Model 8 next for the same reason

I just did the campaign where you're the British guy in the tank and for the parts where I'm not in the tank I used nothing but the C96 you start with, melee attacks, and the field guns only to take out enemy armor

I played the shit out of BC2 and absolutely loved it.

BF3 and BF4 both felt more like Call of Duty games than Battlefield games, and for that reason I hated them. It took A LOT of convincing for me to finally pick up BF1, but now that I have I'm really enjoying it. It feels much more like BC2 than BF3 or BF4 and I really, really enjoy that about this game.

A lot of it triggers my /k/ autism but it's easy to get past that because it's just a video game and a rather fun video game at that.

And nope, both the medal objectives and the medals themselves are actively tracked. e.g. for Support it was: suppressions, mortal kills, resupplies and kills/life (in that order). So my resupplies during the suppresions portion didn't count. If it were passively tracked it would have been fulfilled as fast as fuck.

People leaving games early should be penalized either in SPM/skill rating, marked on their player card as a frequent leaver, and publically shamed on the score screen so everyone knows.

My win rate is atrocious because I join games right before they end as little bitch boys take their ball and quit out because they can't handle the shame of losing by their own merit.

Gas Grenades are unbalanced. 2 grenades that last for fucking ever and the counter to them makes the weapons of 2 classes nearly useless, but the other 2 remain almost unaffected.

Players should get 1 grenade max. And I don't like the hipfire penalty with the mask. Some gamemodes are nearly unplayable because of all the gas spam. Like Rush, for instance, you're forced to run through a mile long cloud of gas unable to accurately shoot anyone.

If someone charges you you can hear them yelling from mile away and they take more damage while charging. Out of 1k+ times I already died in multiplayer only 4-5 deaths are from bayonets. And that's just because I've been scratching my balls and not paying attention to the game.

As for autos, it sounds like you haven't tried many or you suck with them. Plenty of people do very well with the automatico, and if dice buffed it with better accuracy and range then it would easily be the best weapon in the game. Why use a rifle when a fucking machine gun is as good at mid range? I agree with you on the elite class rubbish, but that's about it.

If I'm slightly damaged it seems to be a OHK and I hate the front facing little lock-on animation that plays. I'm shooting a mother fucker in the face with a goddamn rifle and suddenly I'm sucked towards him with a shovel in my neck.

It's the same knife bullshit from BF4 but with no counter to act as a deterrent for bringing a knife to a gunfight. Basically BF1 has turned into Halo. In close quarters you go for melee instead of the gun already in your hands because that makes sense.

Problem with Verdun and "historical" WW1 combat is that it all boils down to pixel hunter simulator. People won't human wave through no mans land because that gets you killed. You can't get points and level up if you are dead 99% of the time.

So people go prone and pixel hunt for most of the match. Also the weaponry promotes this style of play.

Trench warfare in video games sounds like a concept with some niche fun, but in practice, to get everyone to actually play along with the whole thing is to make an RP server, basically.
Same thing with ARMA. Even though that game is much closer to an actual simulator than something like Battlefield, you'll still need to set up a server with strict rules and only invite people you know will play along.
It can be a ton of fun, especially if it's with a community you know will play along, that you can trust, and can communicate with, but that's a huge barrier to get over if you want some mindless fun.
So basically, trench warfare for BF1 never.

There is already an example of this working. It's not a sure fire thing, but it would require teamwork and if you prompt teamwork it can work.

Assaults and Supports have gadgets that already easily take down armored doors. Certain weapons can take down barbed wire and wooden doors. However I like that metal doors are somewhat of an obstacle for attackers. Making them even more useless is a bad idea.
