Most characters get hooked into proper range for you to OHK them. Hanzo, Soldier, Ana, Mei, and Reaper do not.

Certain characters like Widow or Sym get hooked to proper range but are a bit hard to OHK so you're better off walking forward a bit more without holding down M1 just to guarantee the OHK. They're not going to be able to do anything to you in the split second you take to walk that little bit closer.

You can hook problem characters closer by doing turn hooks. How long you have to face away for depends on how far away they are from you when you hook them.

Three weeks, 67 fucking boxes, and $0 spent on this fucking gambling machine, I finally got Junkenstein's Monster
It was the last legendary I needed to complete the set

I had built up 4300 gold, and I was super torn between buying it or getting almost the entire roster of epics, which I have been completely screwed out of so far
Now I can spent all that fucking cash oon them, and have pretty much everything out of this event. I even have a couple days left to grind for another couple hundred gold in the hopes that I can get another epic and really round out the roster, but I'm so fucking satisfied that busting my ass at this game paid off

Level definitely makes a difference - the higher you go, though, the less so. The more you've played the more you're exposed to different strategies. You get more experience, can shut them down easier, can predict them.

Even something as simple as knowing where the health packs are comes with having played the game a lot. And if someone says hurr I'm level 20 and I already know where they all are etc, it might be true, but they're not burned into memory yet.

There's just so much stuff in this game you can only learn from experience. Where to check for bastion/reinhardt's as you come out of spawn. Waiting to see enemy lineups before pushing a choke in case they have a Mei.

Gold damage is only good when combined with gold elims, otherwise you're just feeding healer ults. If a junk has gold elims and silver or less damage, someone else is failing to get eliminations.
Also, while yes it is good to shoot rein's shields if possible it is better to try and fly above or behind him and hit him directly (providing this is doable) either the rein will turn letting him and everyone he was defending get hit from the front, or he won't allowing you to off him relatively quickly.

Levels Just mean more playtime, after about 30-50 it shouldn't matter too much (as long as it's not a major level difference of 300-400+) provided you have skill and experience with similar games and play styles. At level 70 I'd get put up against 1-3 stars, and i'd rarely encounter anyone who was vastly above my skill level. And once i'd reached 1 star i'd get put up against a silver/600+ from time to time.

I don't want to sound like I'm bitching, even though I probably am, but how is Roadhog's hook balanced? What is the counter balance to it? Unless you're a tank, he can one shot you every 6 seconds. Yeah, the hook isn't guaranteed to hit, but if you have a good Roadhog who can anticipate where you're going (If you're at a reasonable distance, with practice you can do this reliably, and the hook hitbox itself is pretty lenient), then you get a free kill.

What is there to balance that? Are you just supposed to not be anywhere near Roadhog ever? Genji Tracer Pharah, yeah they have good dodging abilities, but Soldier 76, Ana, Symmetra, Zenyatta, Lucio, Junkrat, they're all kind of fucked.

I don't know familia. Maybe I'm just bitching like I said, but I feel like you should at least get a chance to dodge his attack. Like Ana, you would think you'd be able to sleep him in time, or at least sleep him as you're dying to spite him, but her dart gun takes like half a second to go off. Lucio's knockback should be able to push him back and stop you, but no, you do not have enough time to push him away before he one shots you.

Generally there is no answer once you get hooked - the answer is don't get hooked. And there's lots of angry genjis and tracers out there that think they should be able to use their absurd mobility to escape afterwards, but that's not the way it's supposed to work.

Roadhog is supposed to counter flankers and get picks. This is a team game, but he is the king of 1v1 Mei is the Queen. To survive him you need to be playing with your team.

Stand behind the Reinhardt shield. Stay in line of sight of your Zarya. Play the sightlines. If you're a flanker only engage when his hook is on cooldown, or try to bait it.

Flankers v Roadhog is generally a duel about the hook. If he misses it he dies, if he hits it you die.
