8th MS team is pretty based. The giant robot combat is more tense and beliveable, the art style, while still anime, causes a less sever suspension of disbelife than the older Gundam series do.

The thing I remember most about the origial Mobile Suit gundam anime dubs was all the screaming and people repeating or screaming names. Those are two anime tropes I can't stand (especially in the kind of voice the guy who did Amuro in the dubs had). So I'm highly biased against it.
