I've been thinking that it's about time to retire vita-chan lately, and I feel pretty...melancholy, I guess? It honestly reminds me of my Dreamcast days - I absolutely loved being part of a small enthusiast community for a niche console, participating in community events, trying out new games I never would have before just because they were on the system (and loving them), building a collection of rare physical games/LEs, and even being part of all the drama and shitstorms.

Yeah, I think I'm done though. I may pop in from time to time just to see how everyone reacts to the few releases left that I'll be picking up, but this is probably my goodbye.

It's been really fun, and I honestly do hope that if Sony ever releases another handheld that I'll get to talk to y'all again - even if we don't know it due to the whole anonymity thing.

I appreciate y'all for the last four years I've had with you. I hope you have a nice day, and find many hundreds - if not thousands - of hours of fun with your own Vita-chan. Ciao.

Haven't played Tokyo Abyss, but that and Demon Gaze probably has better plot than DT2. But for everything else I would say DT2.

It's pretty rare, in my experience, for publishers to take preorders more than about six months before release. In NISA's case, if Yomawari is anything to go by, it's more like three-to-four months. Four months from now would be late February.

Also, since the game has been planned for international release ever since it was announced, localization has been going on in parallel with development. Usually when that happens, we can expect the localized version a week or two behind the Japanese release (rarely more than a month, at any rate).

"Early 2017" would seem to imply sometime before April, anyway.

OTOH, we're obviously not going to get it before Japan does, and probably not on the same day.

So probably something like early March.

My advice would be that the giant monster doesn't actually follow you, so just move out of it's path. Keep in mind the skinny shadow men can see, react to sound, and movement, as well as traverse through barriers and other things. They're easy to avoid and shake off but if you don't pay attention you'll get ripped apart.

I just found out a couple of interesting things about the Exuberance skill.
Supposedly this skill increases you damage when your HP is at max.

But I also found out there is a hidden bonus with the Red HP bar.

What if I like both at once?

Played the first three hours of WoFF, and despite the graphics looking really poor at some places, the game itself is tons of fun. The characters and overall story are a bit Saturday morning cartoon tier, but the actual gameplay is reeeaally good.

Too bad the physical version didn't come with the Vita theme, and it's not even available outside the digital Day One version. Would really love to have it one way or another.

Also, I thought the English voices were on the cartridge, but it turns out they were also a separate download along with the Japanese ones. Maybe they were just for the cutscenes since there was a separate option for those voices and it was set on off by default? But really glad to see that you don't have to download both voice packs in a same, large package, I could save half a gigabyte by not downloading the EN voice pack at all.

Honestly, I haven't tried the SUP Mitama but Sacrifice doesn't sound all that good if you consider that you need another human partner to use since Horõ never uses it, and that means less compound damage despite the Exuberance bonus. Unless, of course, all other 3 party members make use of it and we know that the AI isn't the brightest.

Knowledge (Leech) and Knowledge (Absorb) is helpful for keeping health at max.

Or maybe the standard Speed Mitama which uses Agility to keep HP at max. In combination with Knowledge Leech too.

That's actually a damn good idea. I found the DEF skills to be rather disappointing but the shield bar pretty much saved me many times.

The problem is that for you to really use Knowledge Leech to its fullest you need to keep changing weapons to adapt to the Oni you're facing. It's not exactly hard but can be kinda tedious, specially for missions with two or more Onis.

Not that I've noticed. I've used Rifle for half of the story and I never noticed any difference in damage according to range. And the great thing is, since the Rifle has several bullet types with different range options, you can adapt that to always keep the other party members inside Zeal/Altruism range.

I think I've found a specific good Rifle for Healing Zeal + Abbsorb/Leech build.

Priceless Rifle: 673 Damage, 616 Earth Damage, 120 Precision.

The 616 elemental Damage can fit into the Absorrb/Leach part of the build.
The 120 Precision can be further boosted by Zeal+(Ardor/Accuracy/Amplify), which in return will also boost the entire party even more.

So we have HE/Focus leeching, and Precision boosting for the team, then maybe combine with a few Devastation and Exuberance skills.

There's four of them I think. Reload speed up, bullets+2, movement speed up during aiming and the miasmal node damage plus. Honestly, the one you should get is the miasmal node damage booster if you're gonna focus on using Snipe bullets and reload speed booster if you're gonna use any other type of bullets.

I just got a really good idea for some power play.

I noticed the NPCs like Nagi are very diligent at activating Zeal for the team.
So when I get enough time, I can re-import my character from Vanilla, and transform it into a different saveslot.

Then I could configure a kickass Zeal build into that character. So we basically get an NPC which we configured ourselves.

MGS is great, just a shame there's no peace walker like in the PS3 version, though at least you can buy the PSP version.

There's a couple of small clunky things like the knife being locked to the back touchpad meaning you need to be careful not to flick it when interrogating if you don't want a dead soldier on your hands, otherwise they both run really well and were a blast to play.

It's a Vanilla Platinum save, so the character starts at Phase 8-9 or so.

If we're going to make a custom NPC, it should probably be a Crit. based build with Heroe's Rally so it can pump out as much Zeal/Vitality/Panacea or Altruism/Difusion/Sacrifice as possible.
That means we need a good Crit weapon. So we need to bump the character up to phase 15 for Divine Fox weapon.

I have 2 Vitas, so you can pretty much just host a game, and then I'll join with 2 characters. The NPC one can just wait at that beginning zone, no enemies ever spawn there. So it should be easy enough even if we're only 2 players.

And it's a good investment, because I can configure the NCP to exactly the way you want it. Right from Mitama combination, to Armor, to Weapon, I can also give him Two specific Mitama skills from the onsen bath, and I can give him a Mitama skill from the Shrine.
It should probably be something like Greed, which can give you even more money in the long run, or Haku Enthusiast, Heroe's Guidance, or something like that. It's up to you.

But not right now though, I need to do some other stuff.

That kind of sucks. Perhaps it's better to give the Support mitama a Melee weapon then, the A.I. might work better this way.

Generally I think the a.i. improved MASSIVELY over the vanilla game though.
In the vanilla game, the Sickle&Scythe a.i. didn't fly so much. In Kiwami Hatsuho pretty much flies all over the place.
I also noticed huge improvement in SPC mitama a.i. from when I play with Reki, the NPC knows immediately when the Oni is making a large scale Attack, so Reki is really good at using Warp to get out of harms way, I also noticed she is using Warp when I'm at 0 HP, she combines Runing Towards me with Warp to reach me faster.
That's pretty awesome.

In this case with SPC Mitama, I highly recommend the Chain ability, so she can execute any skill without lag.

If it's for NPc, this might be a strong ability as well.

I haven't tested it yet, but there is something called Paradox+ (Restrain). Which I'm not sure what is, but if it's the same as that DCT trap which can Stun an Oni, it would be incredible for an NPC to have.

Also don't forget about Luck builds, I think I want one of those. When the NPC use Revival, it's awesome for the whole team.

It's a real shame. The game is really polished and good for co-op in my opinion.

I think people tried the vanilla game and got turned off to the series. The vanilla game is a bit rough on the edges, and not as polished as Kiwami.

Heck, I just realized, is anyone on vitagen even getting SAO:HR? I got Hollow Fragment way back in the day and while it was sort of clunky, the amount of content in it was fucking insane, so I ended up buying Lost Song on the recent sale and...It's not good. You're right that it doesn't completely disable the Limb like Freedom Wars can do.

But it still has an effect. For example in the Chthonian hits the ground with a healthy arm, he will do a huge spash damage with fire and lava to the ground.
If you have that arm disabled, he can slam with his ghost arm, but it won't have any AoE, so he's significantly weakened.

Mitama in Kiwami is fun as fuck, since they are reconfigurable, without the need to reset them. Me an another Anon have been circlejerking about the Mitamas the whole thread.

also we don't have a lot of enemy variety, let's give a fuckton of different weapons but make most of them actually be shit
the only thing they got right was the character customization and even then a lot of the clothes are just too out there

I don't care if you're shitting on the plot because yeah it's really just a clusterfuck but the overall atmosphere of FW is excellent and so is the general design direction. The gameplay aspect just suffered from being a completely new IP. Most series's first game is kinda bad, specially so in the hunting game genre since it's plagued with upgraded versions.

Dual Knives are awesome. It's one of the weapons I used when I was forced to solo in parts of the game.

When you're in the air, there is a lot of Oni spells which doesn't work on you at all. And that increased my survivability along with Agility Dual.

I think that Snail Oni does some spells on the ground around her like Ice and the red black aura which puts you to sleep. I might remember it wrong, but you completely avoid those by being in the air. (Or maybe it was the Agility which helped me.)

That's because you worked your way up to be privileged at the top of the system. If you didn't notice, you had to work for the privileges of having the factories as they unlocked.

It's a perfectly fine setting in my opinion. It's in the beginning of the game your accessory rapes you through lack of privilege.

Yeah, I used DK at the beginning but got they only really shine when you get your hands on a nice critical build, something that only happens by mid or end game. Until then, the speed and mobility is probably only second to the Flail and Sickle.

In the beginning I used Knife with ATK mitama. When Might and Carnage activated, the Dual Knives became rape machine.

It was during the demo of the vanilla game, Knfie and Attack Mitama killed the Manhunter really, really fast.

I assume the game wants to imply that not a whole lot of people make it past their first few missions given they involve sending out someone with no knowledge of the world outside their cell other than propaganda with a gun and a sword to fight a giant robot, but then that just reinforces the plot that you, the player, are special because you're a natural at it and you're going through the ranks like nobody's business and then you reach a level where you're carrying veteran prisoners who've been going out there forever

I think it's because most people used SPD, since it helps against the Focus drain when you're airborne.

But in the beginning the Oni were weak enough that you could wreck them severely after a few rounds of might and carnage.
