In theory the tanks only have ridiculous close range damage. In practice most fights are just close range cluster fucks because if they weren't the tanks would feel useless once a shield is broken or on CD.


By all means, I think having a tank class was a mistake due to the implications of what a tank can and should be able to do.
Or they could make tanks work dota-clone style, giving them loads of stuns, more ways to fuck enemy positioning, and generally abilities that force you to deal with them if you don't want to be made easy pickings for the assassins behind him.

Your DPS shouldn't generally be on-point anyway; that is a tank's job. So bitching about having a "teammate that won't get on objectives" is wrong.

And snipers are particularly suited to Attack because Attack is about securing pick-offs and then capitalizing. That is very different from the Defense mentality, which is to just do consistent DPS and deter enemies from pushing.

A Defense hanzo getting 1 head shot is less impactful than an Attack hanzo getting 1 head shot that leads to a taken objective. If the Attacking team wipes, they just respawn. If the Defending team wipes, they all respawn after losing the objective. That's why pros pick hanzo more on Attack than Defense.
