The problem I have with Vel'Koz is that he's extremely safe while also pumping out shit tons of damage almost constantly from miles away. oh and he has an AoE TRUE DAMAGE ult.

He's counter able obviously, but his counters are so few that there's a very likely chance you will lose lane and most teamfights because people in soloq don't know how to play around him. He's just very rewarding for very little effort.

Just dodge the fucking bolts. The only truly "bullshit" thing about Vel'Koz is that if he lands E it's a guaranteed 100-0 since he can cast all 5 parts of his combo in its duration. But his E has the longest cooldown, the shortest range and the largest time delay of all his abilities, and since he's a combo mage his abilities are weak if he lands only one or two on you without proccing his passive so his E having that much power is justified.

Word of advice, AD runes are busted on Sion, makes his Q scary as fuck.
I'd still take Jarv over him simply because of his ability to tarzan onto the enemy backline (plus he has better Titty Hydra and Black Cleaver synergies). For the love of god don't take Jarv jungle tho even Sej is better at jungling.
