Does Civ VI support Steam Workshop yet?

I noticed there are files for World Builder but there isn't a Civ VI SDK in my Tools library. Has anyone found a way to make custom maps and share them yet?
>>
>>158162803
You can't just invest in AI, I mean you can invest in doing something about the shitty AI but they can't just hire more AI programmers.

They need to fully remake their infrastructure for planning AI opponents by including stuff like machine learning and taking data from other players which requires an always online kinda deal

This is BS
Razing a city should decrease war exhaustion

I agree though that they should start working on machine learning. Even on micro scale things like just combat or district planning it could improve things a lot.

They've spoken so little about the mod support, you'd think they'd have emphasized it more after they made it a selling point with XCOM 2. Hope it's not as bad as V.
>>
>>158163090
Paradox has no problem programming competent AI into CKII, HOI4, or EUIV.

Blizzard makes decent AI in Starcraft.

I've never thought I had an easy time of it in Ultimate General Gettysburg, and that gives you multiple AI personalities to choose from.

>>158163262
Even worse the AI often attacks in awful odds, rather than conserve units. I can understand barbarians walking into major defeats but proper civs just funnel units into a meatgrinder until you're knocking down city walls
>>
>>158163346
They don't. If you look at the AI code they basically have it set so that the AI decides to spend it's budget on supporting the maximum number of units it can support and puts upgrading them at the bottom if there's nothing else to spend gold on. Probably because they don't want players Levying full armies.

Guys, I'm real bad at civ vi.
What is a tall amount of cities? I either have so much clay I go mad and my districts suffer, or I'm boxed in like a fucking bird.
Am I really supposed to make a 'science' city/'theater' city/etc ?
Was trying to play on Epic speed a mistake? Every new city takes for-eeeever to get going.
>>
>>158162596
Same problem with the previous games, the first part with exploration and discovery is fun. Once the status quo is settled the game is pretty boring unless you go domination.

Yes you want to specialize cities. Assume you can get two districts in a city before building more becomes kind of irrelevant. Your top cities will likely reach 4-5 if you want them to.

Playing Civ4: Beyond the Sword (Unmodded) for the first time since 2010. In the game I'm playing, there are three continents but somehow everyone started on the same continent. This leaves the other two fresh for plundering the resources.

I had dinky little Arabia declare war on me twice when they had 1 city and then 3 cities, while I was at 4 and then 8, and at least one tech era ahead of them. I only had 4 units in my army but I smashed the Arabians because they would move troops into range of my army, get damaged by ranged attacks, and run away instead of fighting.

When I invaded their territory using Colonial War, they finally fought back, but by then they had no choice. I think someone fucked up, because when it was fighting back I at least took damage, and they attacked units in a what is theoretically a good match-up, such as cavalry attacking artillery, ranged attacking melee, etc but being 2-3 tech eras behind it was just watching Mamelukes charge Artillery Corps and Crossbowmen shooting Tanks and Mechanized Infantry.

I wish there was something you could put on top of jungle that doesn't remove it. As it is now I have all my tiles with stuff on them and then just a bunch of untouched jungle.

I would also like a way to improve forest or jungle tiles into a farm or mine or something directly, without having to waste a builder charge chopping it first.

I was thinking, what if they made a mod to make current political leaders/figures civs?

Donald Trump’s America

Unique Ability: Grab em by the pussy

Donald Trump’s composure and manly stature intimidate female civilisations. All female civilisations are 50% more likely to give in to unfavorable trade deals, demands, and peace negotiations.

“I’m a great negotiator”

This bonus also applies to any unmet civilisations.

“I don’t know who Putin is. He said one nice thing about me”

Unique Unit: Department of Deportation Death Squad

Replaces infantry. Same strength as infantry, but gains the single use ability to reduce the population of an owned city by 1 and remove all foreign religions from that city.

Unique Building: The Wall

Each city can build a wall which prevents foreign missionaries, prophets, archaologists and musicians from entering the cities borders.

Just finished my first game, 8 player continent map on prince. Got a domination victory on turn 357 as Teddy. The AI started off promising. I had some great strategic battles against barbs and my immediate neighbors. but late game was a bit disappointing. All the AI just spammed weak medieval units and My fully upgraded field cannon corps, infantry corps, and artillery just shred through them. They also never put up much of a Naval fight and I essentially owned both seas the entire mid-late game. I knew I had won the game around turn 270 but it was a slog to actually finish it off. The turns take forever when you get up around 250-300

Starting a new game on King now.

This is more a multiplayer feature.

In cv5, when a player is close to space victory, all the other players gang up on him. The space victory player must then defend his city housing the spaceship parts while completing it. If the AI were decent, it would do this too.

Having multiple spaceports mitigates this. And if the AI were competent, they would also have multiple spaceports so a human player does not just nuke his one space city, like in civ 5.

Stellaris is like a weird mix of 4x with some super simple grand strategy elements. Nothing like HoI4 really.

Its also a lot less goal-oriented than most 4x. You kinda just do your own thing, explore, be a xenoslut/slaver, become fuckbuddies/toys with ancient empires, try to survive nearly impossible interdimensional horrors and shit.

Its main issue last I heard was mid-game content, which apparently a lot of the updates and the new DLC was designed to make better.
>>
>>158165904

It has nothing to do with HoI, EU or other grand strategy games.

CIV is more like a board game, kind of as a digital Catan board game.

It's more sandbox should be the proper term. There are very few actual victory conditions. The game keeps going mostly until you just get tired and feel you've won.

>>158166243
You can win by
>Owning more than half the galaxy
>Killing everyone else
>Owning more than half the galaxy with a Federation
Considering how long it takes to do any of those things (with all the other shit happening and especially with larger galaxy sizes) you do have to occupy your time in ways other than winning outright.
>>
>>158166243

I'm bad at describing things, but basically the you have a tiny stubnote about the 3 victory conditions in the back of your game log, and really, the conditions themselves are hard as balls to even achieve. It takes a lot of time and effort. And with the threat of vastly superior empires wanting to step on your nuts or eldritch horrors appearing in end game crisis events, it gets pretty tough.

I guess the best way to put it is that the game doesn't really "streamline" you into the victories like Civ does with culture and science etc.

>is there a lot of space ships you can make or build is combat cool?
There are four main combat classes that you can design and use different parts/weapons and shit, and there is/was a popular mod that added more classes. There are civilian classes but who cares.
The combat can be pretty at times. That's one of the things they took from mods and applied to the actual game itself.
There are in fact basically Tyranids, and also Eye of Terror/5th Dimension types and Rogue AI empires. And Leviathans adds in single, rogue units that roam around and fuck shit up.
Losing isn't too easy. Maybe if you fuck with the wrong Fallen Empire or sit around and let the 5th Dimension invaders or Rogue AIs get too strong.

I played civ5 fine but I literally feel like trash in civ6. I haven't played the tutorial or anything like that but it just feels like I do everything wrong. this is going to be the largest noob mistake for civ 6 because they really never suggest you to rush industrial districts at all while they are by far the most important thing in the game

Food is not really that useful because you will always be limited mainly by housing and amenities. Hills, rivers, and mountains are infinitely more important so starting placement is also that much more important.

Think of amenities like happiness in civ 5, except localized for each city rather than being applied empire-wide. If you don't have enough amenities for your citizens in a city then it will become unhappy and grow/produce more slowly. The entertainment district builds amenities and is vital once a city gets to about 10 population.

that Civilization VI feels both very slow and very fast. You’ll race through history, snatching up technologies and civics far ahead of the AI, but struggle to build an empire as your production queue bottles up with an Industrial District in one city, a wonder under way in another, and a third taking five or more turns to put out a Swordsman so that you can finally address the hordes of barbarians being spawned around you. Meanwhile, you have the technology to build Bank for gold, a Holy Site to keep your religion from being wiped out, and you still have two more settlers to send out to grab Amenities to keep your 15 citizens from rebelling.

Good structure. Good concepts. Some incredibly bad decisions in some design elements that can be fixed by mods or through patches if they concede to the public. The UI needs more detail both in the city and with unit responsiveness, they need to tone down early civ and barbarian aggression, probably undo the change to movement because its a slog now, and possibly make resources and districts interact positively rather than cancel out.

After just finishing an 11 hour game on king I would say it feels better than current civ-5 (Especially when they get the world congress in holy Christ. Both because I want to share hot tips with other civs since that was cool, and because I want the important "Gossip" to show up somewhere other than the worthless spam you get every turn. "Germany is planning to attack you" is more important than "Germany upgraded one knight to have +7 attack") but isn't blowing my socks off.

It has the potential to be the best civ after patches and expansions though. 4 and 5 were both notably improved with expansions so if that holds true for 6 it could be magical.

One surprise disappointment for me was the soundtrack. Even though I like the music it feels like there's too little of it. And I hate to say it, especially because I hate comfyposting, but civbe is more comfy. The music, the sound effects, and even the retarded indian chick were more calming than civ6. It's a minor complaint but it stuck in my craw a bit.

I've had a wild ride on that one. At first I thought "Oh cool, limited unit stacking is back!".
Then I learned you only get +10 strength from a corps and +7 from an army while keeping the same HP and thought it was irredeemable trash that wastes production.
Then I learned you can just straight up make corps and armies from cities with encampments for a production discount, plus if you add existing units into a stack then the highest level one is the main body and has all the levels, and I was marginally back on board.

So, one another playthrough, this time as Germans at King lvl. Ez as usual. Full of bugs.

>added as many players as possible. Btw if you change mapsize up, you need to remove ai to add more ai. Bugged UI. Adding more ai helped with barbs, they were not that annoying as all map was settled.

> Nukes are bugged. Silos always nuke previous target even if you show next. Sometimes you can't shoot at all or it says it will end up with war with yourself. Nuke subs works fine.
> Space race is insane hard to do. I had maxed production German hansa cities and even so i could easly go for any other victory faster. I finish my space project when i was Future tech: 6 milion.
> AI agendas are bugged and designed bad. German agenda is the worst, as you are doing auto-quests for city states without any control and he will hate you. Quests are for example "build galley". Teddy hates you even if you go to war as his ally. Norway was happy about my fleet when i had literally 0 navy and without access to sea. Grecce transexual person was saying i am not doing any war when whole world was denoucing me for being warmonger. Chinaman was just salty as always. Those agendas need to rework.
>when i was doing nuclear holocaust razing cities beacause you cannot auto them and i didnt want to have pop-ups, barbs were back in open spaces, spawning with AT units. Regular players had crossbows, so it was fun when AT and ironclad barbarians were ruling the wastelands world Fallout style.

Game have huge potential, but need a lot of patches. I think multiplayer can be fun.

YOU FOOL, it's not really worth it. Has an even more disappointing victory than a Firaxis game unless they've magically improved it in the patches and I never heard.

That's the victory screen. You don't even get a cutscene or a celebratory toot toot toot fanfare. Won one game at launch on ironman and then haven't played it since, the disappointment was so crushing.

I don't like districts. What do they add to the game? A bunch of very high production cost prerequisites for every city before it can start being useful that barely do anything on their own. Newly founded cities already took so long to get going, now they've got half a dozen wonder-tier projects to chew through before they can build markets and workshops, and you can't even buy your way through it unless you're so rich that you've already won the game.
Not to mention they ruin the scale of the game. Rome fit on a single tile because the world map was literal in this case. Now this is either a really really tiny planet, or Rome's industrial center is half a country away from it's government center.
And it's not like they DO anything besides let you build shit. If you could train units or build buildings AT them, make them little mini-cities or sub-sectors of the larger city, but no that would be ridiculous. When they build a new house in New York every other project in the city comes to a screeching halt, everyone knows that.

Kinda agree with the bitching here. They tried to lift districts from Endless Legend, but they didn't do a good job of it. In Endless Legend shit was simple (District is district, no other flavors) but the strategy to city construction was if you wanted to go for maximum yields and synergy by building your city districts into a diamond shape, or if you wanted to string them out so you could work resource tiles and crap.

Civ 6 seems like it's mostly just to focus your cities, except in the case of campuses for basically everyone and theater districts if you're going for culture. Ends up being fiddly without as much potential minute to minute strategy as EL's implementation which was simpler and better.

Campus gets a bonus from being next to the city center, I believe. Best spot just for campus would be one tile to the right of the warrior since that would let you plop a campus next to 2 mountain tiles and the city center and still in range to fuck that fox.

One by the foxes. Keep in mind cities can work tiles 3 tiles out, so if you founded on the tile one to the right of that warrior you'd have 2 wheat, 4 stone, 2 fish, and fox in potential range. The marble couldn't be worked but the city's borders could eventually reach it so you could theoretically get it as a luxury at some point.

>>158174836
That's true anyway? You just need the encampment building to reduce the requirement to 1 copy.

I just won with a culture victory and I don't even fully fucking understand culture's influence on it. Tourism is seemingly the main part but culture does ?something?. They seemingly did away with tourism and anti-tourism like 5 so not sure what's going on.

Of those two I would say Kongo. The great people are a major boon to culture and tourism, just make sure you go wide enough to have a fuckload of culture districts so you can house all your great works. You'll run out of room FAST.
>>
>>158175623

In V you could usually take the most useful religion being spread to you (or make your own) to purchase awesome happiness/culture buildings or science buildings with faith.

In VI you're limited to great people, but it costs an arm and an ass and increases exponentially.

Me again, I had salt, like an idiot. Retested using silver, which I for sure didn't have. Got better, but still odd results.

-5 Cities, 1 copy of gypsum (+ 1's of others), Luxury happiness 4,6,6,4, and 4

Claim another gypsum resource

-5 Cities, 2 copies of gypsum (+ 1's of others), Luxury happiness 4,6,6,4, and 4

Think I'm right and trade extra gypsum to Russia for silver, which I definitely didn't currently have.

-5 Cities, 1 copy of gypsum (+ 1's of others now also including silver), Luxury happiness 5,7,7, 4, and 4

In conclusion: 3 cites gained an amenity when I got a new unique luxury resource rather than the expected 4. Maybe there are some limitations based on population? Regardless, this suggests that a duplicate luxury has no effect other than to be used as trade.

The only case where I can see this being wrong is that only 3 cites gained an amenity, rather than 4. If in fact the number of amenities a city can use is capped somehow, then this test could be faulty. I'll see if I can determine the reason why only 3 amenities were provided and will get back to you all.

You'll want to rush to 4 at the absolute minimum, since that's how many cities get juiced up by a single copy of a luxury. As for how fast, you'll want to knock out some basic units first since ancient era is thunderdome with barbarians and no warmonger penalty, but I'd put a fairly high priority on it. Haven't played enough to give any better tips for when to expand than that.

I'm >>158170993 that shithead up here, and won that culture game on king with 4 cities and wonderwhoring like a motherfucker to leverage France's abilities. >>158176350

For anyone who cares, I got concrete proof finally. For those interested in the oddity from last time, my city state allies were doing something, not sure what. But after declaring war on all of them I was able to test in a vacuum.

-Traded away all my luxuries save gypsum. 4 of 5 cities showing 1 amenity, the final one has zero.

-Get a second gypsum, no change in amenities.

-Trade extra gypsum for silver. cities now are showing 2,2,2,1, and 1 for amenities.

This concludes my testing and shows that:

1. Duplicate luxuries are trade fodder.
and
2. Each unique luxury only provides 4 amenities for cities the game automatically chooses.

Also, I was so far ahead in culture ( +80 / turn at some point where the closest AI was at 18 ), and unlocking so many policies but with so few slots to use them, or too short of a time between each new policies that it would be pointless to use them.

I'm not pro at the game but this felt really messy.

I also had so many great writers and artists, I dont understand the point of spamming of them ( maybe there isnt, I'm just bad ) because it was impossible to keeping up with the buildings production to house them, especially when so many are wonders.

It's fine if you get lots of opportunities to swap civics because you can use them while they are useful and swap them out when they're not, there aren't actually a lot of policies you just want to swap in and leave in all the time

I swung it with France and it was fairly easy. You just have to wonderwhore like mad. Also did it tall (Only 4 cities) since that let me build all the cities up with fucktons of districts and wonders. Couldn't tell you if they're easiest since the game's too new, but it was pretty easy. Ropiest part was surviving the grabass of the ancient era. Was surprise attacked by both Germany and Brazil, but after the eras progressed everyone got more civilized and I made both of them my allies.

>tile upgrade

you are chopping you stupid fuck

tile upgrades come later down the process

the first few turns of the game you chop workers into workers into settlers and maybe a scout or two but the point is that the entire game revolves around chopping now because a chopper will literally fuck your shit up because its so god damn effective

60 gold return after 2 chops is fucking massive

>>158178860

its not a glitch its just efficiency - you make early worker and then chop out another one and the process spirals from there to whatever you need

what this leads to is you being able to settle a fuckload of cities before turn 20 even hits and youve done it in an incredibly efficient manner - early pop does not matter because you are going to stall at 6 regardless (early on) AND there is literally no downside to spamming good cities

if you want to see it done well you can watch a streamer called anzleon, who is basically the best civ player there is (almost 7k hours in civ5, etc)

No, especially if you're going for science. Space projects take a ton of production to make, if someone sabatoges your factory when you're doing a project, that's valuable time gone. They could also sabatoge your production.

Its also helpful in war, because enemies can recruit literal terrorists in your neighborhoods. I haven't been able to try this in game though because of a glitch that makes AIs not build neighborhoods.

the issue right now is balance obviously

chopping is broken, being able to sell units for shitloads of gold - such as using a worker to 2/3 and then selling for 60 gold

or the biggest meme of ALL

scythia makes horse unit = she gets two horse units = you delete your free horse unit = you just made a horse and made 100 gold = memes

and other stuff like that

civ5 is nice and polished - civ6 will probably get there too eventually but right now balance wise its kind of a shitshow

you can still have fun with it though if you just play against the AI and like roleplay memes and such

Nothing is stopping you from randoming, Venice is just a horrid starting point, talking from first hand experience. It plays nothing like any other civ in the game. You can autolose because of poor starting location, or autowin because of a good one. You put focus on way different things than you do in any other civ.

It needs a bit of knowledge to make it work, but on the other hand the strengths are so abusable you can beat Deity when normally struggling at Emperor with correct map settings.

>>158181026
I don't know, for now game needs patches to fix the obvious things, then the prime issues afterwards. It's not gonna be as deep in terms of gameplay as BNW V until an expansion pack or two, that's for sure. But it's not a blunder like release V was, either.

It gets even better. The 50hp works in Theological Combat too. I had one apostle with the +20 Theo strength promotion and I used him and maybe 4 inquisitors to defend my religion in my empire. Never got converted, Phillips meme hoards of apostles went into the meatgrinder and died. If one of my inquisitors were ever about to die, I could just attack one of his missionaries with my apostle and then go in for the kill with the damaged unit. so I think I found out the problem with AI, as far as their military upgrades are concerned

This is all just speculation but I started playing with abundant resources and they seem to be upgrading and producing military units properly now. I believe that what was happening is that they either didn't prioritize getting iron/oil before when setting up cities and therefore if they didn't just stumble upon one then they didn't ever have it. On top of that, it feels like they prioritize tech that is boosted, therefore they always just keep choosing something else other than swordsmen because they never get iron which means they are SUPER far behind on military upgrades.

I had a star eater and a space dragon in my territory for ages.
Just came across the old dreadnought as well.

I lost the game going for the star eater, it killed half my fleet for 10% of its hp(insane range, got a third of them before I was applying any dps). I retreated and it followed.
Which lead to an avalanche of empires I'd pissed off coming for me with knives.

Actually excited to play again, with real late game difficulty now.
Gonna wait for the first hotfix though, because it'll probably bring in the cheevos they forgot to add on patch release.

Wealthy Democrats have been trying to ban ALL guns, not just automatic shit, since the Clinton administration. The main gripe for gun owners is that the Democrats painted every gun as being a cop killing, child killing, semi automatic full burst death machine. If they had reasonable arguments they would garner more support, but all they do is lie about guns being bad despite living in gated communities with armed guards to keep thugs out.

It fits perfectly into their globalization agenda in that if a country is disarmed, they cannot violently protest (and violent protests are the only way to really change anything).

New to Civ, a friend gifted me 6 so we could play together with some of our tabletop crew. I played through the tutorial and I have a basic understanding of the game, but I've got a few questions.

Are there recommended settings for the game, as far as visual/HUD changes or even keybindings? It's probably not significant but if there's anything I can tweak for a more comfy experience I'd like to know. And as far as civs go, I've read through the available characters and I'm not entirely certain which ones are good for which win conditions, or which civs are just good/bad in general.
