You don't really need to play Days, but you might miss out on some tiny funny dialogue from the org members, a certain scene that was cool, and Axel saying some asshole things.
But that's pretty much it. ReCoded is also pretty repetitive (I didn't actually finish it because I forgot about it.) but I think the movie covers all the important stuff.

I'm also gonna recommend trying GBA CoM for a broader experience.

I actually do a bit of damage, with Kairi and other buff medals. The problem is, that the enemies hit way too hard.

I survived the first round with Second Chance, killed the pumpkins and the some ghosts, survived the second round by a miracle where my Defense III boost activated for every hit, but my luck disappeared in the third round because these pumpkin soldiers are no joke.

There are nine enemies on the screen by the way, three jack o' lanterns, three wavering spooks and three pumpkin soldiers with all three attributes each.

I thought about using Poison+, Paralyze+ and Sleep+, but it's simply too many enemies with too many health bars, so that's no real option if I don't want to restart this game until the heat death of the universe.

It's what I did, many moons ago. Still one of my best medals, especially since I got her to six- and full Chips/Dales. Strong base stats, super useful special ability, and with a fully-leveled DBII she can dramatically increase your survivability. Her usefulness is mostly situational, but she remains one of the more popular shared medals in my party because of those situations.

The only two forms where grinding EXP is kind of unavoidable are Wisdom and Final anyway
Fastest way to do Valor and Final is the black Mushroom in Agrabah (nets you no EXP), for Master there is the death trick in the Cave of Remembrance (also no EXP)

With the exception of high jump and rarely master forms air dodge none of them are really needed except for in the cavern.
Plus even if you wanted to level you can easily level 3 of the forms in 5 minutes without gaining any exp. Then wisdom is easy to do in agrabah.

The JP version is more balanced.
Our HT Sora is ridiculously good. Probably one of the best green AoE medals in the game at this point.

Chances are you'll pull something that deals damage too. If you only had 6 Chips left it's better to the attack than Kairi. As the tap damage is irrelevant in most cases, and maximizing damage is better served on the non-buff medals.
