Hey guys,
I hadn't played since vanilla, but last Christmas I got the Taken king expansion and finally got around to playing through it. It was pretty fun, I really enjoyed how they changed strikes and simply the sheer amount of content. However, be honest, is rise of iron worth it? I don't have the most free time in the world, but I enjoy playing when I can. I don't want to get Rise of Iron and then have Destiny 2 drop on me before I can finish it.
Also, I primarily do solo pve stuff, but I was pretty good at the PvP when I actually played. I wasn't interested since there wasn't a ranking system, but trials of Osiris seems kind of neat.
Tl;dr does Rise of Iron have enough content that playing through solo pve feels good, and is there actually a reward for being good in multiplayer? Should I bother buying it? Thanks!

It's easier. I had 7 HM and 6 NM KF completions in all of y2 (mainly I didn't want to run it, but often would stop at oryx because it punished a single fuckup so badly) and already have for WotM 17 NM and 3 HM completions. It does require a lot more teamwork, but it's more forgiving.

A couple of those are intended to be PVE perks.
Yes, they are bad, but there needs to be bad stuff in with the good or there's no point in having a perk system at all. If everything was good, you might as well just be able to pick what perks you want on your gun once it's in your hands.

For pvp I want my sniper to have hidden hand and quickdraw, for pve I would prefer triple tap and firefly. These are balanced perks for very different scenarios
For handcannons, in pvp I want rangefinder and luck in the chamber or hidden hand, for pve I want triple tap and rangefinder or firefly
The problem is I have to shard a million guns with exhumed and surrounded because they don't balance perks, or the perk are far too situational and niche to bother using

Rerolling was absolutely a problem. Being able to brute force a perfect weapon in a relatively short period of time resulted in the Crucible becoming inundated with overpwered guns and subsequently caused balance changes across the board moving into TTK. Rerolling existed for as long as gaming, the problem wasn't the feature, the problem was its implementation.
In Destiny, you had a constant cost of reroll for all weapons with easily obtainable resources that can be gained consistently and reliably.
Ofcourse that was the problem.
In literally every other game, you would pick one perk to reroll, and that would lock you out of being able to reroll any other node on the weapon, and the more you reroll, the higher the cost for reroll, with more powerful abilities being weighed differently so that they are harder to hit.
That way you could only get a god roll from a near-god roll, and still needed luck for the perk you want to roll before the cost of rerolling that specific weapon became too exorbitant to continue.
