Learn how to move around as a lancer. Using sidesteps and hops are crucial to keep next to a monster, and knowing when to sheathe is also important.
As they keep nerfing shelling, poking ends up being more important. Shelling is used mainly for extending combos.
Recommended skills are general offensive skills + razor sharp + artillery (if you can, doesn't have that much priority unless you're focusing on shells).
Adept style is considered the overall best since it gains a lot with the adept guard, but there's some bad matches to it. Striker is a close second, if you git gud with hops and positioning, and it's closer to vanilla gunlancing.

The only real problem is you control the face buttons and the second analog stick with the same thumb. It is a problem having to go back and forth, but it becomes unbearable once you start gunning.

Even when I'm emulating I have to assign the PSP D-Pad to both the directionals and the second analog stick, since there's sometimes I want to control the camera while attacking and it isn't possible without the original config.

I'm just saying, that since /nintyg/ has been shit for at least the last 2 years that the NX does not visually look that good. The instant multiplayer looks cool but the triggers look like they're placed pretty poorly and it doesn't seem as compact and portable as the even the XL models of the DSi and 3DS
