The Last Surprise is terrible, vocals at least. The introduction instruments are incredible though, I expected something better to follow them up.

Basically just gives you the abilities they'd give you from the coop from the start of a new playthrough minus the increased fusion Exp. With the exception of the party members extra skills in party which you'll have to get again.

So if you get 123s then you can swap party members mid battle and get instant escape from the start of the next play, long before you meet her and start her coop and level through it again.

Alright, in case anyone's still confused about part of that discussion from the other day: there's two other scenes showing a phone call between the Special Investigations Department chief and Shidou (though we only hear one side of the conversation as usual), one on 9/9 after Yuki mentions the ranking for the next reformation target, and one after clearing Okumura Palace.

The 9/9 one is mostly them talking about the situation with the school principal (without mentioning him explicitly) since him covering up Kamoshida's actions was leaked in a magazine and his investigation into the PT came to a halt since (they settle on a "heart attack"/shellification for him to avoid the possibility of him betraying them). The chief starts saying that "as always, I'll leave the disposal to..." and Shidou interrupts him with an idea that apparently amounts to dealing with two things at once.

The one after Okumura Palace really sticks out in hindsight, though. Quick rushjob translation (if anyone wants the full untranslated text, just ask):

The "??????" description is for the ability Sae's co-op rank 10 grants, and it's called 真なる正義/"true justice." The item you get from her on the final day (her business card) also does nothing, unlike all of the other items you get on that day (which basically grant certain co-op bonuses in item form, so you can carry them over to NG+). They never confirm what her treasure really was either.

Anne's nostalgia comment, at least, has her outright saying that it feels like they all knew each other long ago. She attributes it to them being comrades with similar circumstances, but it's a really weird line.

There's optional encounters with Goro, usually with choices, that don't actually seem to do anything so far.

There's a weird phone call from Ryuji in December where he's all "if I reform Shidou..." and then cuts himself off and tells you to forget about it.

You can hear Lavenza talking to you (repeating her speech from the interrogation flash-forward at the start of the game) if you lie down on the bed in the Velvet Room, although it's garbled until you actually pass the interrogation.

As noted, he's the chief of the special investigations department, which makes him Goro's and Sae's superior. He's in league with Shidou, helping him with his plan to be elected as prime minister by pulling strings among the police and prosecutors as well as keeping an eye on other co-conspirators like the principal and Okumura. Most notably, he's generally the one sending Goro out to deal with people, and he's the one putting pressure on Sae about the Phantom Thief investigation.

I'm pretty sure he was killed off for the same reason as the principal and Okumura (Shidou's "nipping all seeds of doubt in the bud before they sprout" policy, since he's a liability due to knowing too much), but I'll reconfirm that once I'm past that part again. Overall, he's kind of a scumbag.

Shidou was implied to have figured out about the Palace long ago, through Futaba's mothers research. He just couldn't directly access it until Goro approached him. But he knew about it, and unlike everyone else he's actually aware of his shadow and what it's doing and can tell when it's fighting the Thieves, and when it's losing the fight.

I think Shidou was too connected to the Palace and Yaldaboth needed him removed for his own plan to work for whatever reason.
