Easily.
4 is good considering it's a new team, but it's still very obvious it was made by a new team.
Epic is very good at maximizing their content on release.
TO meanwhile probably tried, but the campaign is way too short, there's a lack of multiplayer maps at launch, the versus character roster is lacking, and somehow Horde feels less content rich even though you have more freedom in it.

Reminds me of Forza 5 coming off of 4. A good game especially considering it was on a new platform, but overall not a step up. It wasn't until F6 that we returned to greatness.

I've finished the game now. While it's not as good as Gears 1, 2 or 3 it's still very much worth playing and a good extension of the trilogy. The story implications from the ending are massive and really open it up for another sequel.

Originally I was expecting it to be like Halo 5 where the story is hot garbage but the multiplayer is the best the series has been. I was right about multiplayer. After Mike Mahardy posted his Gears 4 review saying the story was bad I was suddenly more excited for it since his opinions are almost always wrong. I was right about this too.

This multi is fun as fuck, the retro is godly. Got a clutch in my first match on gridlock of all places.
The enforcer seems a bit too good though, everyone's running gnashers and I decided to give it a whirl and it basically downs people instantly in close, really good in KotH.

This is TC first Gears. MP isnt perfect but its better than 1 and 2 and with some tweeks it can easily come close to 3's perfection. Plus 60fps and dedicated servers already bring it up to a whole other level.

It really depends on how good the enemy team is compared to yours.

If you're on a team full of scrubs, and the enemy team is working together very well and using gnashers, you will probably not do well with a lancer.

However, if the enemy team is either moderate or low skill level, spamming the lancer/chainsw is actually fun as hell.

But if you want to be successful with the lancer, you really have to understand the maps and know how to keep enemies at a good distance (medium-range really, long-range is impossible with lancer and if you get to close you'll get gnashered), and it's also good to stick with teammates so you can just lancer people they get into gnasher battles in.

But goddamn is chainsawing people fun.

Forgot to add, Gears 4 has the same kind of ranked versus that Halo 5 does, you play a certain amount of matches and then you get placed in a tier (bronze, silver, gold, etc.) so *in theory* you should consistently get into matches with evenly skilled opponents. If so thank goodness, not sure why i'm wigging out, i have Gears of war 4, it's just i didn't realize the collectors edition would have come with the digital code.
