Ordinarily 10k gets you 40 pulls, which sounds crazy at first.
But your odds of getting three 5* units in 40 pulls comes out to 0.04%.
Hell, your odds of getting at least ONE 5* unit are still less than 50-50 (they're just 44.44%).

When you consider the fact that only a small fraction of our current 5* pool is literal trash, it's a good deal. The materia seals the deal on making it worthwhile.

It's hard to objectively compare banners though, because we've had some pretty trashy ones and some pretty great ones (the FB banner right now). I can still try:

Assuming you only pull on a 30% cumulative banner with no 3*->4* units (the most common banner type so far) we can instead say that your odds of getting a prestigious member of Lani's Super Friends is only 58.24%.

That gives you a 41.76% chance of pulling a "good" unit on each pull. In 40 pulls, you have basically 99.999999999999% for this to happen at least 3 times, with the caveat that most of those will be on-banner units.

Your odds of rolling a 4* or 5* base go up by a hilarious 2.88% on an 11-pull, regardless of how many units we have.
On Luneth's banner, this percentage increase actually GOES DOWN by a small amount, meaning it's even less worth it to do an 11-pull.

Vaan is useful only for full break and focus - if you run 3 Chorizos focus becomes useless, and Vaan doesn't have enough MAG to be an effective mage.

CoD and Garland are better physical units anyway because of the Man-Eater passive - which you can stack with the upcoming Diablos esper and in the future with the Thorn Mace for CoD. And the future 6* CoD second Man-eater passive.

Kekfka is a great mage, best ST damage in GL, future proof. Even gets a mage version of Man-eater in his 6* form.
Lenna best healer until donut Tilith hits GL, and even then, Cheer + Curaja will still be fucking solid.
Leo is a great tank, has bladeblitz and built in provoke.
Tellah is a great all-around mage with Raise to boot.
I personally don't like her, but dualcast Krile can rack up elemental chains in tandem with Kefka, Tellah and even Vivi - even more so if you boost damage with Vaan's focus.

Don't fucking fall for that deadbeat meme of multiple Chorizo.

Well it should be pretty obvious.

Get 4 Edgars and a Kefka, and bring a Vaan friend for focus and Full Break.

I think you can cap out the chain at 3x edgars though, so bringing 2 kefkas, 3 edgars, and a vaan friend would work

Have Vaan Focus and FB the enemy.

Give your edgars coral swords and have them use chainsaw at the right time. This will build both the elemental chain and the physical chain to their cap at 3x damage.

Then time it so that Hyperdrive(s) hit at the exact time this chain ends. You'll do three times the normal damage, which kills most bosses outright at that level.

I didn't get Zidanes. I like the elements and AE interrupt, and I like the Dual-Mug, which also helps sub in for breaks. Most of all though it provides a good amount of damage, uses and utility on a character that I can load up with whatever the hell I need at any given time. Be it Multibreak, an extra team buff, my honed Thief's Revenge that I have no real recipient for. etcetera.

My only regret is that it somehow isn't Machina Maw.

Yes. So we get 90 Lapis per day from both the daily and the PvP arena. And the Arena counts as the Colosseum so that helps with the daily as well.

Now if only they doubled the daily to 100 Lapis per day since now we are starting to get the flood of the 5* base characters. Getting 3000 Lapis free per month would help. Also change it where days after 28 that you log in also gives lapis too would help out as well.
