Nah, 3.PF is awful, but it is what I'm more familiar with. I've played a bit of 5e but never been a Druid nor even had one in the party, so I'm not really sure what works and what doesn't.
As other people have mentioned, Geronimo is more of a buffer and a skirmisher, but I don't think the old 3.5 CoDzilla type of build works in 5e. Or is even possible.
Making him a Ranger with a vendetta against Orcs or something might work, in place of the real Geronimo's vendetta against Mexicans.

Ok, here's the thing about gbf. The weapon pool for any element is going to be mostly magna; a semi-raid battle you get to do a couple times a day. And from those battle you may or may not get drops that allows you to challenge mega magna 3 times a day where the actual weapons has just about 1% chance of dropping. There's also many different types of weapons from the drop list and about half of them are completely useless.
You'll be doing that for about 4 month if you are ftp or lesser whale and you'll need ass loads of other weapons to feed to the drops to raise the weapon skill lvls so it's not shit. You'll also need to get multiple copies to max them out, which would take 28 copies of the said weapon to be able to actually make the pool decent.
And that's just the weapon pool, the gacha is grossly bloated and the only reliable way to get you core team is from surprise ticket that allow you to pick a character from a pre-set pool; a rather good but still a limited pool which contains most of you breed and butter of the 5 elements. The surprise ticket are also cash limited.
So basically you'll need to sink a year into it before you have the luxury of doing the numbers. Which is also the time when you are bored out of you fucking mind.

People overrate the grind needed and they aren't efficient enough to make the most out of the game. I spend, on average, 400-600 AP per day, which basically covers enough for a hosting 3-5 raids (2-3 regular, 2 HL) and beating other people's raids every 2 hours. That's about 90 minutes of play, tops.
I'm casual. I've never dedicated that much effort to Granblue. Within 9 months, I'm stronger than most around these parts, if coming MVP or at least MVP2 in thread raids and often do the same in "High Level" raids against Japanese whales, if that means anything. I also run a team with 2 ''''core'''' SSRs and 3 waifu choices.
The thing about Granblue is that it attracts numbers autismos that like to theorycraft and min-max everything, without playing the game. They watch videos of other people racking up big damage on YouTube and try to emulate that, but mobages being what they are with RNG, you're never guaranteed to get to that level. So they get upset when they don't 'achieve'.
The good thing is that you can get strong from being F2P. with its relatively generous gacha rates, some people in my guild have dozens of SSRs without paying a dime. The bad thing is that it requires more investment than typical mobage. It's not a huge amount, but you certainly have to treat it more like a proper game than a mobage.
That's once nice thing about FGO, is the lack of a live element means that you can easily take it at your own pace. FGO's gameplay isn't the greatest, but there's no rush or need to feel constantly at it. I've maybe put in an average of 30-45 minutes every other day into it for this event. It's been a really good break from GBF.

I think another big problem with GBF is that people feel like they HAVE to put in hardcore amounts of time. It's like with the recent event and trying to get the loot bunny. There were people that were rank 0-90 thinking they HAD to grind for hours on end for the thing as if it were a necessity to progress when there are people that are rank 150+ without one because they fell for memes.
