Continuing on, I think another thing that would change the tone radically for the better, is more inner working of the religions. You should get to explore the monastery and gaia and read their texts. Talk to more monks in the actual building instead of just people in the shop who inexplicably always wear the same outfit. Add more about neutral as well, even if its not explicitly called a neutral religion.

Two more is tayama talking to yamato takeru, and another scene of him talking to mastema. And one of kaga talking to yuriko.

To be fair, maybe that's what their original plan was closer to. Remake IV to feel more like a full game. Its sad that they could have changed so much by doing so little, but they couldn't be assed to write a few more scenes that wouldn't even take more assets to do most of. Also, they should have made tokyo look more lived in.

A lot of this significantly changes the tone of SMT4 and bogs it down with more cutscenes than it needed. It already had too many awful cutscenes for the awful plot it brought to the table though, and given a choice I would trade SMT4's cutscenes for yours any day of the week. Your tone is a helluva lot better too.

To make a counter-argument, I don't think the writers for SMT give one shit about pathos or narrative satisfaction or dramatic irony or paying off foreshadowing or recursion any of the cool stuff your plot invokes.

I'd rather it be a Soul Hackers-ish melange of cool crap so in the end it really does feel like you smash the heavens, smash hell, or both to bring the world back into something not utter trash. They bet a lot of the plot on the red pills carrying the story and it just created this incredibly corny dichotomy of either you want to suck people's brains or you want to demonize tokyo, no middle ground.

Everything in that segment was so random and pointless you could have changed any of it out with no difference. If they weren't going to make what you were doing matter, at least make some parts of the plot include other characters and what they were doing. I couldn't find anything about the difficulty differences outside a few vague gamefaqs threads, maybe I missed the discussion here.

Either way I'm sticking with it, I won't fucking give up no matter how much I hate the game by the end. I'm about to face King Frost, and I'm already overwhelmed by all the fusion options. If literally any option is considered acceptable as long as the person telling you to take it counts as "sufficiently human," then what's stopping us from summoning other obscure asian figures from history to defend our law and chaos endings just so long as we call them balanced, which we justify based on nothing. Because in judaism direclty referring to him out loud isn't allowed, and its been this way since forever. So that actually resulted in the fact that no one knows how to pronounce it anymore, since just the letters in hebrew isn't enough to know the pronunciation. This took on a mystical tone to some people, since its considered the unpronouncable word to some people. The game just lumped these things together to make him stand out by making his name literally unpronounceable. The weird thing for the players being that to us its not clear whether this is something in universe that actually happens when you try to directly refer to him, or just something that we hear.

I'm sure the majority of the general has found this out by now, but those weird "Flowers" consisting of the same material wraith barriers are made of can be destroyed by the jade dagger. Usually, they drop elemental attack stones, but they also drop other stuff like emeralds, garnets, and armor boost kits.

Just what do armor boost kits do? Increase the statistics gained from armor? Can you dump multiple boost kits onto one piece of armor? I'm stockpiling mine for the demonica armor, but I don't know if I need more than 3

I'm just playing through SMT4 for the first time, and I feel like I'm either playing it wrong or this game was balanced by crazy people.

It's like the optimal way to play is to just have the MC do all the damage, and have the rest of your demons be on buff/debuff/heal duty at all times. Demons just seem so useless. Magic centered demons die in 2 hits because they don't have any HP, and physical demons do jack shit because physical skills take MP now for some fucking reason which they don't have.

Not to mention the MC can just pump all his points into dx/ma and get the superior versions of all skills. It's like why even bother with demons? Just grind them for +8 skill and throw them away. Critical wave+8 can usually one shot an entire random group of demons no matter what level they are if your MC is pumped up enough.

Max Force: I started out by having the MC use Rakunda, and swapped out the starting three demons for their superior offensive alternatives (Ym, firebird, and Long). Then the rest is a blur. Do keep in mind that Concentrate consumes smirk, so use it before Smile Charge.

Just know that there are only so many ways you can do these missions, and if you keep trying, then eventually you'll suss out the means to complete 'em.

Near the end of the cosmic egg dungeon and after defeating the divine powers/collecting all the dildos. You have a choice of killing and usurping YHVH, or not doing that and just defeating him and bring peace. Choosing the former gets you to killing your friends and the latter a fight with Dagda. I played in March so I forgot when to save before the decision, I think after the Mitra fight there is a door you have to enter, save before entering that area, or just save before the Mitra fight.

Your choices don't matter except that one (and the ones that lead to the bad end law/chaos endings obv) If you have acted "hypocritically" throughout the game (acting edgy and go bonds route and vice versa) they get extra mad and mess with your stuff. Going massacre while acting nice Navarre destroys all your items (error I made in my last post) and going bonds when you acted mean Dagda deletes your demons (not the ones in your active party.)
