Prot Pallies are absolutely fine and are not lacking at all.
They just require an IQ over 60 to play (meaning not smashing every button all at once).

Holy Pallies are good, excellent tank healers, do insane (for a healer) burst DPS via Holy Shock; I've seen a few hit 300k at ilvl 845.

Ret Pallies are decent in terms of DPS, but are as boring as staring at a wall.

I'm demo - my aoe is really bad, unless the fight goes on for a long time, then i am not left behind that far (doom ticks)

But on single target i am not terrible anymore - 845 ilvl and pulling decent numbers, i hit 300k+ a couple of times with time warp on a few bosses where i didn't have to move.

It's still hard to keep up with my DH and Mage guildies - i usually go with them. The DH leaves us behind slightly, but i am neck in neck with the mage on single target. Can't compete on AOE though.

Hunter is decent performance wise, BM/MM. But it's also horrendously boring to play and look at. Some people like it but I just can't stare at the same animation over and over and be entertained, especially when the mechanics are so mind-numbingly boring

Nothing, nothing at all. In fact it's much better to level as Prot rather than Ret or Holy.

What I mean is, a lot of Ret players levelled as Prot for the first time but stuck with it and started dungeon spamming. The problem is, they are usually new to tanking and try to play the same way they did whilst leveling, in dungeons, which is essentially spamming all their buttons, having no active mitigation available, and doing nothing but auto attack whilst they wait for cooldowns to finish.

I've seen plenty of good Prot Pallies, but plenty of utter shitters who are new to the game playing them too.

Just pairing Blacksmithing or Jewelcrafting with Mining would be fine. Any of the traditional other pair like Herbalism/Alchemy is good too. That said go Engineering if you like the toys or transmogs. Just keep in mind it doesn't make that much that sells well.

If you want transmog gear go Ashran.

Ashran dominance is 1 guaranteed mark per quest clear + a crate that can also drop one. 200k kills also gives a crate that can drop a mark and is generally easier to farm than BG wins.

The downside is Ashran is even worse now than before and it can be difficult to get a full team for both factions.

Wyrmrest Accord for horde. You'll find the largest horde rp community there. Org is where you'll find the least amount of erp. SMC is where you'll find most of it.

Beware though, if you want to erp, you will find a difficult time as an undead or death knight. People on WRA are very much sold on the "sex with zombie" thing, and you won't get much in the way of erp.
