22) Development Plan 13 – Watchtower

Tanamo suggests building something from which you can get a clear view of the entire island, since everything else is mostly done and it can be a really romantic place, and Scathach agrees that it’d be useful, romanticness aside. She says that the logical choice would be building a tower, the only question being which type.

Tamamo suggests a five-floor pagoda made of wood since there’s plenty of material and it feels elegant. Mary and Anne say that the first tower to be built in the island ought to be Lighthouse, so you ought to respect the order of priority, and Mordred jumps up as usual to say that their suggestions aren’t cool enough.

Kiyohime’s dragged you off for a pleasant walk just to two of you, saying that she wants a chance to just talk. She suggests discussing such light-hearted topics as your life plans or a place to settle down and make memories, but you clumsily deflect it by reaching for basically any topic but those.

She explains that she studied how to use a Naginata for self-defence, as was traditional for noblewomen, though she admits it’s slightly anachronistic since the weapon had been invented only recently during her time. Also, she hoped you’d feel excited by seeing her in a different form.

>Protagonist: “Yes. (That killing intent sure makes me palpitate.)”


You go on walking until to reach a peaceful area of the river stream and Kiyohime suggests going for a swim. You ask her if she’s good at it and she hesitates, but she’s suddenly startled as you notice a Demon Boar on the other side of the river. The boar doesn’t notice you and starts to make its way back to its nest, but you decide to chase it.

>Protagonist: “We can’t let it go, for the piglets’ sake!”
>Kiyohime: “You’re so kind Master… as I’d expect.”

After dispatching the boar, she says you should leave the rest to the others and asks you if you want to go back to swim, though you complain about being tired.

>Kiyohime: “Ah, I see. But do not worry. I… in our last moments, I thought of Anchin-sama, at the bottom of the river. Cold. Quiet. The water enveloping Anchin-sama like my flames and thoughts. Myself, and Anchin-sama within me. Together by ourselves. At the bottom of the river…”

Tamamo says that she’s only familiar with Japanese castles, but that the larger they are, the more people are needed to maintain them, so rather than homes, they end up feeling like places where lots of people gather. Arturia agrees, saying that a smaller castle makes those gathered inside feel closer together.

Everyone gathers around the newly-built ship as Scathach completes it, conveniently off-screen to save on CG costs. Marie and Anne approve, saying that you won’t know exactly how it handles until you’re en route but that you can leave the navigating to them. Kiyohime acts as if you were going on a cruise and is very excited about doing “that” at the bow of the ship, which I take to mean she’s seen Titanic just like Artemis, and Mordred wishes you could add some steel plating or spikes to make it look cooler.

>Tamamo: “The fun vacation is over, isn’t it? Oh well, the image of myself fin a swimsuit has been burned on Master’s retinas. The Tamamo Subliminal Killing Strike will trigger once we go back to Chaldea and you won’t be able to calm down without seeing me in my swimsuit.”

Martha says the piglets have come to say goodbye, and Marie wonder if you can’t take them with you. She asks Scathach, but she replies that it’s not possible, since the bunch of rune spells she used to plan for the ship’s operations are fixed already and you can’t bring more people on board.

You fight the Boar for a while, yet it just keeps fighting back, and even Martha’s monster-killing skills can’t seem to exhaust it, which makes Scathach mumble vaguely about what this thing may be.

Mashu alerts you as she realizes the Boar is staring at your ship, and it shoots off towards it, planning to ram it. None of you can make it in time, but it suddenly slams against something on its way.

>Mashu: “The piglets are… forming a wall!”

They all got sent flying, but they managed to shift the boar’s trajectory and save the ship. The boar tries again, but the piglets reform their barricade and stop it each time, giving you enough time to catch up. You shout at the piglets that it’s enough, but they refuse to stand down.

>Marie: “No matter how many of you there are, you can’t win against’ that huge Demon Boar. You should know this, and yet you defended our ship… [Smiling] Silly boys, if the ship were destroyed, we could make another. Mister Large Pig, we’re sorry, but this is not your territory. You finally manage to defeat the Demon Boar, and both Arturia and Scathach confirm that it’s dead. Marie and the piglets start celebrating, and Fou acts sort of sulkily, which Mashu takes to mean that he’s saying “that’s my spot”, so she assures him that you’ll be looking at him when celebrating victory.

With the sun setting, you finally prepare to leave. Tamamo says that the island seemed really difficult to live in before, but now it feels says to leave it, to which you agree. Mashu tells Marie that it’s time to go, so she tells the piglets not to cry. Marie tells the piglets that they can do whatever they want with the stuff you built, whether it’s destroying your crops or cultivating new ones. You then set sail at last, wishing for the piglets’ happiness while they tearfully wave goodbye.

Marie wonders whether the ship will do fine, and Scathach assures her that the rune protections she put on it are perfect. Mary and Anne ask her if she dares doubt their sailing skill, thought they as Scathach where they should be heading.

Martha says that anywhere is fine so long as you can contact Chaldea, and Mashu says that she’ll try immediately. Mordred comments on how everyone seem sin a hurry, and Tamamo says that she’s been taking a leisurely vacation so far, so she’ll keep acting stylishly relaxed on the ship.

Cu grumbles a bit about the girls still using their swimsuits on the ship, saying that they can’t read the mood.

>Cu: “Us being jus supporting cast hasn’t changed, hasn’t it? Fine, we’ll just sit quietly in the corner.”

Kojirou suggests they go play hanafuda on their cabin.

Cu says it might be best they don’t leave their cabins until they arrive to Chaldea to avoid dying, and that they’ll just take it as it goes.

Mashu says Tamamo has the right idea about taking it easy and asks you if you have any ideas about what to do while on the ship. You can suggest fishing, or say that you want to try some pirating, which causes Mary and Anne to start chanting about how they’ll teach you all about it while dragging you off, while Mashu chases after them telling to at least leave one of them manning the rudder.

I used a far from optimal team and I cleared it without using command seals. Bringing Jack for buff removal will probably help make the dodges less annoying though.

Someone asked me yesterday whether Tamamo or Waver went well with a Bride and Kuro team.

Tamamo doesn't really bring much to the team apart from her arts buff and Waver really just lets you steamroll things like in whatever teams you want to run Waver in, but I've found that Andersen goes really well with the composition.

While Kuro has an arts focus, she can also generate stars really well. Andersen synergises perfectly with this. His QAAAB deck ups your chances of arts chains, human observation and innocent monster ups crit potential and his NP provides star gen up which I haven't been able to take advantage of in quick crit teams cause of Andersen's arts deck.
All this paired with Bride and Kuro's own star gen buff lets you deal good crit damage and have high NP uptime.
