At first I was happy that Morgana is the healer but I just realized that if you want to fight as efficiently as possible, having a healer on your team isn't very efficient because items can do the same thing. It's better to have party members that can buff and debuff.

I hope Morgana gets something really useful later...even just one move that cant be covered by items would be good.

Actually, most Persona games have items that give the Ma- buff items, right? I hope theyre in P5 and that theyre easily farmable so I can just let Morgana use those.

The entire game system was tailor made for Persona 3 - the theme of death; the Arcana, the theming, the music is all made specifically to be used in Persona 3 to strengthen its themes and drive them home. Even the mechanic at the end of "will you live in fear of death or wipe your memory to die happy" is a genius, tense, simple but powerful mechanic that instills the theme of the game in you. And yes, non-controllable AI, a deliberate subversion of JRPG standards to strengthen the individuality of each party member.

Persona 4, whilst not a bad game, uses re-used assets including literal areas and monsters; they couldn't even be bothered to re-draw the Arcana cards to fit the game better. It doesn't do anything mechanically as well as Persona 3 in any respect. Yes you can control your characters but that doesn't make sense - you're playing the leader of a group, not a psychic. They even dropped the three types of physical damage, watering down the battle system for no reason. It doesn't work because "Truth", whilst a good theme, is not an Arcana in Tarot. "Death" is, and that's why Persona 3 embodies its themes; it owns them.

P5 is the culmination of everything bad about P4 while being even worse and introducing its own myriad of problems.

I personally think it's the best yet. UI is beyond gorgeous, story dungeons are no longer random, demon negotiation is back, every dungeon boss gets a backstory like P4 but are mostly monsters and shitheads like P3, dungeon traversal is actually kinda fun (unlike 90% of RPGs), you no longer have to worry about accidentally switching to the wrong persona, and they throw in a lot of fun SMT references and themes.
