Well... yes. I just did a trial run that had to rely on dodging 50% Hit rates and I was able to clear the left side... using all of my units. By the time they all got to the right side, clearing the initial set of Master Ninjas, Ryoma already started moving. He only did 6 damage, 11 with Rend Heaven, and I have 52 HP.

Yup. With Shurikenbreaker, Niles can actually reliably dodge and defeat Master Ninjas. Their hit rates reach as low as 0%, with maybe 15% being the highest. He's the only one in my army who can safely and reliably approach and defeat the Master Ninjas. I didn't realize that the two Automatons near Saizo also had Lunge, so I had to just take a risk and have Kaze fight the two Master Ninjas and the Swordmaster there, and if he didn't dodge the 50% Hit rate of the Swordmaster he would have died. I can either... rely on that happening again, or I could buy more Freeze staffs.

The right side was just as dangerous, though again, Niles was basically my savior. At least until Niles got hit (their hit rates may be really low, but I might still fall for the "something has a chance of happening and it happens" meme) and then a Master of Arms took him out.

But yeah, I don't take too much damage from Ryoma, but that's just in the chamber. I would sincerely hope that after going through the ordeal of fighting Saizo and Kagero that I can quickly take out Ryoma and put an end to this chapter already.

I think, it's more that they were planning on making Olivia Chrom's canon bride and wrote the supports and maps around that. The Lucina/Inigo/Chrom interaction was crazy on-point, and it makes sense in a meta way too to have the canon wife be the most difficult to get and the canon son have the hardest paralogue.

But then they realised she comes too late, the casual audience wouldn't appreciate the extra difficulty, and a romance with a Pegasus Knight would look cooler in cutscenes, but they didn't adjust the supports and the maps.

Story and gameplay can go hand and hand depending on what kind of game you're playing. Think about FE. Say, FE4. Why are you going around country to country? For whose sake are you doing that? Why do you get a brand new team after a certain point in the game? Without a story, you would have no clue about what's going on in a game. It would be much harder to get invested in the story and units you control, as well as some of the mechanics of the actual game. Can you honestly say you would understand holy blood without a story to go along with it?

Video games have always been a mixed medium to immerse the player. Even the most primitive of games have had a story in some shape or form. Saying that story is entirely irrelevant and only gameplay matters make zero fucking sense, especially in an RPG.

I had Awakening as my first FE and I hated it.

I emulated Ike's games next, enjoyed them a lot.

Because of that I decided to get Conquest, and loved it.

I didn't bother with Birthright because I was told it was Awakening 2.0, I bought Revelation instead to get the whole story, I really really really really really despised that game, in every single way.

I played Rekka no Ken next, the game was extremely easy outside of one optional chapter with lots of pirates, and the very poor difficulty made me drop the game after a while. I remember the last chapter I played was when some edgy guy teleports behind my army and kidnaps Ninian. I don't know if the game gets better from there, I've been thinking of giving it another chance lately, but I always change my mind and replay Conquest instead.


What other FE game would you suggest me next based on all this? What do you think I would enjoy?

You should have atleast one or two units with tomebreaker or high enough res to attack them, believe me the worst room is going to be the one on the bottom with a dozen generals and beserkers who do 40 to 50 damage on average and that's not even counting crits. They have a respectable defense, but you should be able to kill them all with an average army. My first try ever I tried to tank it with Tomebreaker Maids/Butlers and high resistance ranged units like Adventurers and Ninjas and it still didn't work that well. I later found out you can actually just kill them all. It's a bit trickier in Lunatic because of Infinite Staves but definitely a much much better option.

I played Conquest a lot, and honestly this chapter, and a lot of horror stories behind it, are really a bit too much. I find it to be a very fun chapter, though I still haven't found a reliable way to beat the Faceless/Golems room. But it's not too much of a big deal, because I found a couple of interesting ways to easily clear the General/Berserker room with no risks.
