While a few buttons can't really make engaging combat, too many buttons won't either because it'll be a pain to keep track of.

Everyone's aware that the game's combat isn't engaging.
There's enough buttons to keep track of, but some jobs have just too many unnecessary ones (looking at you, Thunder I-III, Malefic I-II, Stone II-III and why can't these be 1 skill that gets stronger from receiving a trait you get at a higher level?) but with tweaking, the combat would be easier to handle while being fun. I don't have any faith in SE pulling this off however.

The only thing I like about that zone is Moraby Bay.
I'm not really fond of the zones in this game. ARR ones are beautiful but tiny, and the HW ones are a mess and look like it came from the PS2 but I'd say I hate Coerthas, especially Western Highlands (even though the music there is good).

Tl;dr: Had a lot of impressive looks, features, combat had depth but was bogged down by some absolutely terrible things like awful interface, experience point PENALTIES, and many other various inconveniences. While 2.0 team did good to remove a lot of the bad shit that plagued the game, they unfortunately also left behind a lot of the positives and unique things 1.0 had.
