if you're a reinhardt and you can charge a roadhog, check to make absolutely certain that either A) he's at less than half health, B) he only has one or fewer shots left in his gun, and or C) he doesn't have his ult
if he has more than half health he'll just press e and heal back all the damage you dealt and then kill you
if he has two or more shots loaded he can left click you when you get near him during your charge, then after you've pinned him his screen will be guaranteed set up for a perfect meatshot headshot and those two shots combined are a guaranteed kill doing more than enough to kill a full health reinhardt
if you charge at him and he has his ult, he'll press q and either push you way the fuck away or just outright kill you, and if you hit him before he presses it he'll just press it after he's not stunned then push you away or kill you
also left and right clicking him is more or less out of the question, he does so much damage and you so little that he can easily kill you if it's one on one every single time then heal up all the damage you did to him in a second
plus his hook will throw a wrench into any plan you have of fighting him because at anytime he can choose to stun you and pull you to him, even if you're right next to him or charging at him
reinhardt is really good against roadhog with a team since you can block his hook from grabbing your teammates as well as let your team move up and unload on his fat ass and out damage his heal

Our team had a reaper and roadhog.

I don't think he ever lived for more than 10 seconds after engaging our team. First round ends, and guess who's calling his team noobs? Yup, it's the winston main!

it's actually infuriating. competitive is such a joke and blizzard knows it. that's why they released Ana (a skill demanding HEALER) mid-season, and that's why they're releasing Sombra in the middle of season 4 or 5. But the game fucking NEEDS characters like that or shitty players will get carried to the top and good players will be perpetually punished. That's why OW competitive is a joke. People don't actually want good players in their matches, because god forbid they have to face one of them and out play them. It's safer to just have Mcree spam in the direction of enemies while Zen does the same with discord. Or to press Q and hope for an epin PotG team wipe, instead of one that takes actual game sense and lightning fast reflexes to achieve without dying instantly.

People often complain about unconventional picks but it doesn't matter a whole lot unless your opponents are doing a very specific cheesy build that requires counter-picking.

I always see lots of complaints about choosing Symmetra, Torbjorn and Bastion on koth maps but have won plenty of games with one of them on the team. I once won a game on Lijiang Tower with a team of 6 Symmetras.

His shift is piss-easy to use, so use it to get out after you got in.
Find some cool teleport spots. E.g. you can teleport through hanamura A choke, into the house on the right, or the stairs on the left.
Priority targets are tanks.
