The location is really pretty, you learn more about Avvar, spirits, and the last Inquisitor, as well as Orlais, since some stuff about Drakon is revealed too.

I honestly liked it a lot, there is a lot to explore and discover and I got the feeling most of the stuff about spirits they tell you in that DLC will be pretty relevant, considering what elves seemed to be. You even find information about the Forgotten Ones, the "rivals" of the Evanuris

For me the most irritating part is how she constantly questions magic and old shit in the world. Neither is the one I'm using right now but I still make Let's Plays with it. I can't go out and buy a $5,000 gaming machine like some privileged millennial pissbaby. I have to live within my means, and that means I have to make due with low-end equipment.

Besides, I do this because I have fun doing it and it's kind of cathartic for me. I don't even mind getting content ID claims like most people unless they block my content in some countries, like when I played Space Funeral.

Dragon Age: Origins is turning out to be an alright game, though the combat is a little boring and there are no characters I want to romance. I do want the Ultimate Edition so that I can get the holiday gift DLC and make everyone like me, but that's about it.

The thing is, they acknowledge that magic exists, is real, and influences basically every events of Inquisition or at least the majority of them.

Cassandra is a Seeker, Cullen is an ex-Templar, so they worked extremely close to magic and mages, know its risks, know how it works more or less and don't get scared when they can't understand something.

Bull is probably among those who best know how influential and dangerous magic can be, because the Qunari drill that thought into their people since from birth.

So he is bothered by spirits, demons, and spells, but fights against them without pretending they aren't there. And in the end, he even grows fond of Cole and respects him, acknowledging him as a person even if he's a spirit. Same counts for Vivienne, who is a mage and believes magic must be kept under control, but also used to help.

Sera doesn't fit any of that. She just shuts her eyes an covers her ears when magic is mentioned, pretends not to see the Breach in the sky, even the mention of spirits disgusts her, doesn't respect anyone's belief or religion, and lives an empty, ignorance life.

Mass Effect changed teams all the times and the new writers consequently added, modified, and cut stuff without having a clear idea of the story they wanted to tell. That's why the lore of Mass Effect is poor and messy compared to the one of Dragon Age.

The writers and most important people of Dragon Age have pretty much always been the same: Laidlaw, Kirby, Chee, Darrah, Weekes, Gaider started the project together almost ten years ago (Weekes worked on DA:O for a time, then was moved to the ME team, but he assisted with the creation of the series), so they have been shaping the lore since from the start.

Laidlaw said that the thing about Fen'Harel, the elven gods being cruel etc. was one of the first things they wrote down during the development of Origins.

It's really baffling to me that the ME leads are so arrogant they couldn't even get over themselves and work together to make the setting internally coherent; it's just such a cynical series in general, from the way companions like Thane and Jacob are treated, to Miranda's constant assertions that she's a strong independent perfect specimen of a woman while the camera pans to her ridiculous ass, to supplementary material so shit it was deemed noncanon. Definitely my least liked Bioware product, even DA2 had more heart in it

Holy shit, those are the right words to describe Mass Effect and the team in general. I always felt like the ME team was a freaking mess, from the way it handled stuff in the game from the way it acted with the fans.

Except for some stuff, it has never been able to build a strong, resilient lore and world and it treated the characters like shit, as you said. EA considers this series "the best child", but I feel like the real winner, despite everything, is Dragon Age here. At least the DA team is funny and actively shares stuff with the fans on Twitter.

Qunari are just scared shitless of the Fade and anything related to it. I don't remember their prophet Koslun ever saying the Fade and spirits are dangerous, his texts are pretty much teachings about life, philosophy, and purpose, but they just went with the idea that mages are "dangerous things" and nothing in the Fade can be trusted.

In Trespasser the Viddasala even writes that they are trying to strenghten the Veil, probably to block all magic from entering Thedas once and for all. I bet that's gonna be one of the possible choices in DA4, side with the Qunari and reinforce the barrier so that spirits won't cross it ever again and mages will stop being born.
