Can't give you a precise answer, but so far Gwent was fun for me. I just played with the first deck (Northern Realms: one of each weather card, the clear weather leader, minimum number of normal cards, etc.) and beat the shit out of everyone in Velen. The Baron was tough at first due to a lack of cards, but I just kept buying them from merchants (even duplicates, having several commander's horns helps at first) and beat him and then it was clean sailing.

But the most insulting thing of all is the last act of Witcher 3, I can live with Ciri not treating Yennefer like a mother because Witcher 3 Ciri is a retard, but fucking up the main theme of the series of Ciri NOT being a chosen one but only a vessel for the chosen one really showed me how stupid their writing team is.

I'm a big fan of the tabletop rpg as well and its actually the reason I got interested in the witcher in the first place, but I doubt they can fuck it up.

Nobody really cares about the story of the setting or what characters exist in it, as the saying goes it's always been style over substance - and it revels in it. So long as they get the aesthetic down, don't fuck up netdecking, and include lots of body augs then I think me and most other fans will be happy with the faithfulness of whatever they churn out.

I'm with you in the spirit but "Muh girl isn't the chosen one she's the chosen one's mom" isn't a theme of the series and never was. It's a world building detail that was just an excuse to drive the plot. They totally botched the main themes with most of the ending but not for that reason.

Style over substance is entirely possible in storytelling. Storytelling=story writing. CDPR excels at storytelling. Direction, atmosphere, graphics, dialogue, voice acting...none of these are story, but they are tools used to tell a (probably shallow) story, and CDPR uses them exceedingly well, nine times out of ten.

wew lad, spoilers here for the first game.

Just finished the first Witcher and chapter 4, 5 and the epilogue is some of the best gameplay I've ever played.

However that reveal at the very end with Jacques actually being Alvin tore me apart.

I really hated killing other Knights of the Order during the epilogue because of Jacques but in the end I understood what he was doing (so was everyone really)

The worst part is that it feels like Jacques was your son in a way, you helped raise him and I myself am proud of him, he made one of the best orders, had a plan for the future (which was fucked and I disagree turning humans into abominations) but I ultimately feel sorry for him, growing up from a young age with his parents dead, hangout out with Triss (or Shani) and Geralt and then he's forced to grow up himself with only your guidance.

In the end i'm glad I wen't with the Order, not only because fuck non-humans but in the end Jacques was praised for saving Vizima, he'll be remembered as a hero which is the best any man can achieve, even if that's not entirely
true.

Also Siegfried and Geralt are best bros.
